Roasts in this appliance are fabulous!

by
5 out of 5

Last night I decided to cook a 1.3kg roast in this appliance, and it was incredible! I reheated it to 200 degrees and once the temp was reached, I put the roast on the non stick pan on top of the low rack, and set the time for 40 minutes. I did have to cut into the roast before serving to see if it had been cooked through, (i had no idea how long it should be in for!) ... all up It was cooked for around an hour and I put some water to cover the pan in the last half of the cooking. I sliced it up and it was so moist and tender, and I think adding the water stopped it from drying out too much (Ive never added water before!). With the roast served, gravy made (with the oil added to that from the pan too) and the veggies steamed, we had a tender and beautiful roast beef for dinner! This appliance has certainly taken over my stand oven in the kitchen which takes forever to reach the set temperature! I also love how bright the internal light is so I can see how its cooking during the cook cycle! A great appliance!

This appliance is truly unbeatable!

by

Last night we decided to cook up some honey soy spare ribs with some steamed veggies, and this great Neochef makes it just so easy! Its not only great cooking meals, but cleaning it is so easy and fast! Everytime I cook meat in the Neochef oven, it is cooked perfectly through and so moist and juicy! Last nights meal creation was the 1st time I have cooked this dish in the oven and we were so impressed! I'm loving sharing my meal creations on this site, because each time I have used it I have been so satisfied with the results. You can view it cooking really well and the chime once done is great. Even extending the cooking time is simple! This Neochef is something I would never be without!

An outstanding kitchen appliance!

by
5 out of 5

I purchased the LG NeoChef 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven about 2 months ago after reviewing the product for a few weeks prior, and I am sooo impressed with the results! My current standing Oven in my kitchen is so old and the temperature never reaches the setting I choose, so cooking roasts is near impossible... BUT with the Neochef, I can! I have been loving my roast pork and crackling, usually I make it on a weekly basis because the results are outstanding. I end up a moist, beautiful roast, perfectly cooked, and crackling! I set it up on the high tray after I oil and salt it and pat dry, with the oven preheated to 200 degrees. I then cook my roast for around an hour, maybe 10 minutes more depending on the size of it. The results are always perfect, and the meat is so tender. This roast pork dish is without doubt my favourite at the moment, and the Neochef is so easy to use. I am so impressed with this appliance- its replaced my big oven, fryer and my steamer.. all in one!

NeoChef Play Dough

5 out of 5

Yep, you can make playdough in the microwave! Here is a link to a recipe on KidSpot - I have also used their photo, as my son is older, and play dough is not required. Just thought I would share this, as I think it is awesome. Good luck making it, and cannot wait to see your photos! by
5 out of 5

I cooked up a storm in the Neochef microwave today!! I followed the instructions and actually cooked a whole sweet potato from scratch! it toiok some getting used to with the settings and a little bit of fiddling as it was my first time but it really did workl! and the sweet potato smelt delicious! Be sure to cover the vegetables properly or they might burst. The cooling action that the microwave completes on its own helped alot, no smoke! Thanks LG!

Instructions easy to read

by
5 out of 5

I've read all through the instruction booklet and found it so easy to navigate and there's some great recipes! It's now been a month since I've had the microwave and am so happy with the results. There are different categories for the booklet and the recipes were easy to follow. I really like how the troubleshooting is easy top go through as you are directly put through customer service diagnostics so they literally can figure out what is wrong with your microwave if there is an issue!

An overall winner

by
5 out of 5

Ive had this for a month now- and honestly, its amazing. We just moved houses, and my god it looks fantastic in the new kitchen. I havent even had a chance to try its easy clean feature, as its never boiled over. Food is always hot and it is insanely easy to use. Im in love with the knob timer and the fact that I can easily lessen the cooking time without stopping the cook feature. We have cooked so many different meals, and reheated frozen food- it always cooks evenly and doesnt burn food or do that chewy thing around the edges that microwaves normally do. It also takes so much less time to cook than my old microwave. Im never going back to a 'normal' microwave- this thing is amazing

Vegetable Casserole reheated easily!

by
5 out of 5

Reheated some vegetable Casserole on the manual setting today. I wanted to see of the reheat function made much of a difference. I loved that you have the option of manual or the auto reheat function. The vegetable came out nice and warm and the broth came out looking just as it did when I first cooked it. Made is fast and easy for me to use.

Love, Love, Love my microwave!

by
5 out of 5

I just used the slow cooking function again on my microwave and it made things so easy! This time I just wanted to slow cook some BBQ lamb chops to make them more tender and nice for a stir fry. The microwave took less time than I expected - normally I would do it for 8 hours but this time I only slow cooked for about 6 hours on the low setting and they turned out beautifully - just as good as my slow cooking appliance! The meat was just falling off the bone and delicious. It helped me to create a really delicious sweet and sour lamb and veg stir fry and it worked perfectly with my Tupperware Ultrapro. So happy!

I love my microwave. It has revolutionised my cooking. This tuna casserole from the manual is an example of how easy it is to cook in the microwave. My house smells delicious whilst it is cooking, and it is as easy as press sensor cook twice, to select the casserole function, and then press start. Hello delicious!

I am currently cooking a tuna casserole from the LG NeoChef manual. It only had four ingredients.... Boiled pasta, cream of mushroom soup, tuna and milk. I have posted the recipe in the recipe section of this website, as it is so good I want to share it. It uses the sensor cook functionality and is super easy to make, and cook! Highly recommend buying this microwave and giving this yummy recipe a go. I will serve with a microwave steamed green. YUMMY!

Most Used Appliance in the house

by
5 out of 5

The LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven is now the most used appliance in my house. Everyone loves the cooking programs especially the healthy fry option. I love the ability to increase or decrease the amount of time while cooking. Everything we have cooked has been fantastic, especially the meat. Cooked nice and crisp on the outside but still moist and tender on the inside. It is so easy to use that even my husband loves it. With so many options I am sure we are going to be discovering so many more reasons to love it.

Revamping stovetop recipes

by
5 out of 5

I have started to revamp my recipes using my LG NeoChef microwave. This dhal recipe was first. Red lentils go amazingly soft in the mircrowave! I actually started off with less liquid, as there is not much evaporation in the NeoChef. The rest of the ingredients cook up well too this way. I did however cook the tarka on the stovetop, as the crunch of the curry leaves, and popped mustard seeds add a great contrast to the soft dhal. Oh, I did roast the cauli too, as you need that roasty flavour in the dhal. The cooking time was about a quarter of the time on the stovetop, using the casserole funtionality.

Yummy Goodness!

by
5 out of 5

My son and I use this microwave all the time. Very impressed with its functionality. Nick has a form of autism, and I try to help him be independent. He didn't have a meal planned, so I said, we have mince in the freezer, veges already grated and diced, what can we do. Nick chose to defrost the mince, and then cook it with the veg, add a jar of sauce, and made a really awesome Spag Bog, I did the pasta.... Not quite up to multi tasking yet LOL. Defrost in microwave, browning on cooktop, reheating leftovers... microwave!

I have posted quite a few posts about features of the LG NeoChef, and also some recipes. I have just found this one, with my son's help in the book that came with the microwave, and it will be our dinner Monday or Possibly Thursday night (too many visitors). We love tuna bakes, and this one using a tin of soup sounds interesting, and different to our usual bakes. ... My son will make it, and I will video it, so look out Mums, it will be on line soon!

Reheat Functionality Rocks!

by
5 out of 5

This LG NeoChef microwave reheats awesomely. It is our most used function. The food heats evenly, and you can manage the reheating process by weight, and also by time. I have a naughty food item under the paper towel - a sausage roll. It turned out warm all the way through, no cold bits, and the pastry was edible too. Highly recommend this microwave on the reheat function alone!

The perfect cupcake

by
5 out of 5

Wow, even I was able to make the perfect cupcake. Cooked to perfection, crunchy top and light and fluffy in the middle. The automated program was perfect. I also made another batch using standard oven settings, ie preheat oven to required temperature, insert cupcakes and cook. They didn't turn out as nice, seem to cook too fast and cracked on the top while the middle was still a little runny. I no longer gringe when my daughter asks to make cakes, I no don't have to use my horrible oven anymore, unless of course I am using the LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven to cook something else. There always seems to be a something to cook. This is a fantastic machine and I tell everyone who will listen to me, I love it. I have my confidence back.

My new favorite appliance

by
5 out of 5

The LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 39L really is a fabulous appliance. I put my dough in it today and proved it on the proving mode and cooked buns in it today on the oven mode, and once again they turned out amazing, my gorgeous little girl and I made cupcakes in it and they turned out amazing. The only thing I can think that could be a little different would be that the minute dial takes a little time to turn and turn to get to a time like 40minutes but apart from that I really can not fault this machine! it really is prefect. I haven't tried yoghurt in it yet but I imagine that It would work out just as well. I cooked an apple pie in it that we ate last night and it was cooked beautifully, the pastry was divine and it was cooked evenly. I cooked the apple mixture on the microwave mode then cooked the pastry and then the completed pie on the fan forced oven mode and it turned out better that it would of in my normal big kitchen oven., I think that because it has only a small space that it doesn't dry the food out as much and can focus on cooking just what is in there instead of heating up a big oven space. this LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 39L is by fr the best appliance in my kitchen, and it looks really good sitting on my bench... well done LG and a big thank you. I love LG and by the looks of things this will not change anytime soon!

Sendarional sensor cooking!

by
5 out of 5

I'm totally loving the sensor function of our NeoChef! So far I've. mostly used it for frozen veggies at dinner time and I know that regardless if I put more/less in from the previous night, I don't have to guess the time it'll take to cook properly. The microwave thinks and works for me! It even gives me a little chime when there's a minute to go so that I can get things organized to plate up! Sensor-ational!!

Keeper

by

I have been trialing and testing recipes in the LG NeoChef Inverter Oven for the last month and I'm certain this is the best microwave I have ever owned, cooks recipes and meals in a fast time, heats up quickly, I use the reheating setting everyday, reminds me all the time when finished, the defrost setting is awesome and I was surprised when I tested the duration of defrosting lamb chops the other day it was super quick in less than 6 mins it was ready to pop onto the cooking pan and I found like most other microwaves it didn't cook the meat, it was still fresh looking. YES! So I'm very happy this is. I believe the microwave gets dirty more often with finger prints but I just wipe down. The inside of the microwave is grey in color I like the darker colour inside as it looks cleaner than white. The microwave is a great size for families and can fit two bowls inside without getting caught going around. Happy Smiles! Thanks LG and MOUTH OF MUMS for allowing me to review I had a great time reviewing this microwave and look forward to more opportunities. Had so much fun.

Im getting rid of some of my kitchen appliances thanks to my LG microwave oven.

by
5 out of 5

I have put my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 39L to the test over the past 3-4 weeks and have come to the conclusion that I do not need some of my other bulky appliances that I usually use! Yes that means that I am throwing out some of my old faithful machines! This LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 39L slow cooks just as well as my slow cooker, dehydrates just as well as my trusty big old dehydrator... I loved dehydrating my own fruit especially bananas for a healthy on the go snack or to store and add to biscuits and healthy snack bars, Hubby loved beef jerky and dehydrating this in the microwave is just as wonderful as using a good quality dehydrator, this microwave makes it so easy... you choose dehydrate on the touch panel in the slow cook section, you can choose your own fan forced low heat and the time you want it on for, it takes just as long as a good quality dehydrator.. AMAZING. Fried chips etc are cooked with perfection reducing the amount of oil left for us to ingest! Everything is soo simple that I have to pinch myself every now and then to make sure that I'm not dreaming. So after I get rid of my bulky dehydrator, my bulky slow cooker, and my dirty oil ridden deep fryer I just about have a whole cupboard left empty! Oh and heaps less washing up! I even cooked a Pavlova in it and it turned out perfect! I live in QLD and cooking on a summer day is NOT something I want to do but the heat coming off the microwave is a small fraction compared to my big kitchen oven , don't get me wrong...it does get very hot on the outside of the microwave when you are using the oven mode and its way too hot to touch but the amount of heat filling up my old Queenslander house is minimal in comparison and we have actually been able to eat cooked food without sweltering because of it. I recommend purchasing a LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 39L , It is good quality and does everything it says it will do and more with simple easy steps achieving its usual never faltering perfection! Thank you LG! xo

Manual Microwave Cooking

by
5 out of 5

Is it wrong to not want to cook when the family is away? I did a shop today, and bought home a vegetarian frozen meal for one from Aldi - vegetable cannelloni. I whacked it in the LG NeoChef microwave, and press plus seven times... Then start. The smell permeating my home was delicious. The taste once cooked, incredibly delicious! Using manual cooking was what we all did back in the day - it is good to know it is still an easy and timely cooking method

Nick is stoked with the world of possibilities NeoChef has opened up to him. I don't like frozen convenience meals, but my son does. He loves this Aldi Lasagne, and it heats up really evenly in this microwave oven. He even knows to take a photo, so I can write a review. With the simple press of a few buttons, and a few minutes wait, he has a meal!

Used my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven for blueberry muffins! From the user guide I found the settings required and quickly understood how to set it up to cook, the only downfall was instructions said to place on tray in muffins cases, as this was a runny mix they didn’t hold, I was able to save them by using a normal muffin tray instead, seemed to work fine once running and they cooked well this way.

Everyone should have a LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven

by
5 out of 5

I really like LG products and this LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 37L is no different. They are cost effective and reliable. My previous microwave was an LG that I had had for 11.4years and it was great. It never missed a beat, it did everything it had promised! I had to retire it as after all those years it had a chip in the enamel which caused it to spark/zap. every meal was prepared one way or another in it ie: defrosting and cooking, etc., but to be honest this LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 37L is by far a MILLION times better! I will NEVER EVER live without one of these! If it where bigger I would seriously consider retiring and removing my big normal oven! there seems to be no real restrictions when it comes to creating food in it unless you need a stove top for some particular reason, but most things can be adapted. We have installed solar hot water and solar power panels as becoming power efficient is important to us , so when we purchase anything at all we take this into consideration along with being conscientious of the water we use and a microwave helps with that as cooking in a microwave not only saves power but also the amount of water you use, quite frankly if I could only use this LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven and get rid of everything else I would. It ticks all the boxes and delivers everything it promises and more! As of now I have just about retired my big oven, although I couldn't fit our Christmas turkey in it but if I could of I would of as everything I have cooked in it comes out perfect. That perfect juiciness we are all after in our big old ovens seems to be the normal achievement it this amazing kitchen appliance! My normal big oven grill has NOT been used since I started using my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven. I cooked some sticky smokey BBQ chicken wings that I created and they were devine! They defrosted evenly, and then Cooked evenly, juicy, browned, yet sticky > Basting them was a dream, just open the downward opening door, slide out the crisper/baking tray and baste and return. Just as you would in your big old oven but with SOOOO much more ease! my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven is placed on my bench top so there is no bending or stretching, you can see exactly what is going on in the oven thanks to the fantastic lighting in it. Its as easy as grabbing something out of your cupboard! Its very quiet when its running, at least half as much noise as my old microwave used to make whilst running , and the only smell I can smell is my food cooking. Cleaning up afterwards was as simple as just wiping over the microwave/oven and the accessories where just as easy no matter what is cooked inside of it, the simplicity is constant. I can not believe just how simple everything is when it comes to anything I do with it... LG is a brand that I am happy with so trying other LG products is exciting and gives me pleasure , I wake up of a morning and can not wait to start planning what I am cooking for the day in my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven 37L because it brings me joy and excitement and having everything turn out so perfectly makes my family love good, clean, healthy food so much more. who needs to buy take out when you can create the best food around in your own kitchen...

Ive found my new love!

by
5 out of 5

well what an amazing week. My LG NeoChef™ 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven has been an absolute god send. I really don't know how I would have ever got through Christmas and new year without it. I have basically cooked 90% of everything I have plated up in it. the amount of power and water I have used during this time in comparison to what I would usually use over this period has been reduced ALOT and the amount of washing up has been minimal as well. the more I use it the more I feel that I cant live without it. I have used it to melt chocolate for rum and raison truffles , copha for white Christmas, cooked a beautiful white chocolate cranberry and pistachio pudding in it , cupcakes, melted butter ,baked vegies, roasted meat and much more, and everything we have cooked in it has turned out to be moist and lushious, no over drying or burning, everything cooks evenly more evenly than I have ever known a microwave or oven to cook! we even cooked some pork crackle in it and it crackled really well although I think because it cant go any higher than 200c that it was a little tough but maybe if I had of used the grill for some of it then the toughness may not have been an issue... something to play around with anyway! LG NeoChef™ 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven is absolutely super easy to clean and I really adore the nice little chime it has when it has finished instead of a high pitched beep. It looks fabulous and stylish in my kitchen. Ohh how my life has really become sooo much easier since I have owned it! Thank you LG.... AMAZING!

Warming up milk

by
5 out of 5

At first when I heated up the coffee I thought there wouldn't be any way that the microwave would be able to warm milk without basically burning it or making it too cold. Something that commonly happens in any other microwave. However, I was wrong it did it! I can easily make bottles for my son with warm milk before bed without the stress of too hot or too cold! I love the quietness of the microwave too! It was on while my son was asleep and didn't wake him unlike the rattling sound my previous microwave made. I look forward to defrosting some meat tomorrow.

Favourite appliance ever!

by
5 out of 5

I'll start by saying I am an appliance addict. My love for cooking has meant that I had to have every appliance under the sun. The LG NeoChef Convection Oven is officially my favourite appliance!!! The main reason being that it is so easy to use and it is so versatile. My favourite component of the NeoChef is the list of prompts just on the inside of the door. You don't have to refer to the manual every time you want to try a different cooking function. Instead you can refer to the menu on the inside and make the decision whether you want to steam veggies, roast potatoes, defrost a meal etc. And the prompts are easy to follow as well. I have had convection ovens before with a similar feature but could never follow the prompts and it would result in a failed meal. Well done LG!

Cooks to perfection

I have been using the LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven for a couple of weeks now and get more excited every time I use it. From baking the perfect loaf of bread for our Christmas lunch, my daughters birthday cake to a super easy Snitzel and pasta for my fussy family or even oven chips with squid for a fuss free weekend lunch I have been impressed and so has my family. It is super simple to put some fish fingers and oven fries in push a couple of buttons and just sit back and ...... be a busy mum while Neo takes care of lunch. The programs are easy to use and very adaptable to other foods. My biggest problem is wanting to cook more than one thing at a time.

The inverter defrost is a feature which defrosts my food for me. Especially convenient as I forgot to take my Shepherds Pie out of the freezer. I was going to try and cook it in the oven, but thought I would try the LG NeoChef defrost function. Super easy, four steps to perfectly thawed food. I then used the reheat casserole function to cook the pie. I then just put the pie in the oven/grill as we like a super crusty cheesy top. Yet another time safer, efficient way of cooking with LG

Week 2 of my review of the LG NeoChef microwave (a bit late as I've been so busy over the Christmas period). I am still so impressed with this microwave. It softens butter to perfection, there are no parts that are still hard and none that have melted. This allowed me to make reindeer cupcake (pictured) perfectly! Heating and defrosting food takes half the time in this microwave compared to my old one and is evenly heated or defrosted through every time! I have used the grill function to make toasted sandwiches and to cook hash browns and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

***LG Microwave Convection Oven Heaven ***

by
5 out of 5

Hi Guys, Sorry for the delay in posting my first review but I had a little hiccip - My LG Microwave convection oven arrived damaged. Part of the bottom of the box was damaged in the delivery process resulting in one of its legs being bent and the base near it was dinted in a little. I contacted Mouths of Mums and almost instantly they contacted me and said that LG had arranged for a replacement to be sent out. LG must have had it on the delivery transport the same day as it arrived super quick. I was very happy at just how caring the delivery transport was with it the second time round. So I've had the excitement of receiving my brand new LG Microwave convection oven twice and I've really loved it. Unpackaging it was awesome, it looks so elegant and shiney , I just wanted to cuddle up to it. Sorry Hubby! Now it was time to read the users manual as I've only ever owned a plain old microwave and had absolutely no idea just how to use a LG microwave convection oven. My excitement was bubbling up . Quite frankly I detest instruction manuals as I have had a few that didn't deliver a clear message and some that go on and on, and then boredom creeps in, down goes the manual and I usually just wing it from there, never actually completing the manual, but with this LG microwave convection oven users manual I found it to be precise and to the point with the exception of a typo I found stating "File a microwave safe container with 300mls water..." I was quite amused with this concept of "where exactly and how could I possibly File this container!" Hahahaha. Of course I knew exactly what I was meant to do- Just having a little bit of fun. All in All the manual was easy to understand and not boringly lengthy so therefore as manuals go, it was a pleasure to read. I loved the accessories we received placed perfectly inside the LG microwave convection oven leaving nothing extra to have to buy to be able to use it as its intended... It came with a low and high rack, steamer water bowl/crisping tray, steam plate, steam cover, a hexagonal rotating ring, a glass tray( a traditional microwave glass plate) and a removeable shaft to hold the glass tray in place. I think I was so worried about doing something wrong that I started overthinking the whole process of - when you use it on the microwave mode, you cant have the metal items in there, and when you have it on convection oven mode you can have them in there but you are not aloud microwave safe items ie: plastic, paper towel etc. So then I was wondering if I have to take out the stuff that is traditionally for a microwave, that being the glass tray, rotating ring etc because I wanted to cook some frozen meat pies and needed the convection oven and I didn't want to ruin my new stuff. On the front of the tempered glass door is a removeable sticker with a customer care phone number that I phoned as I couldn't find anything in the manual to ease my concerns. The customer care guy was great, he didn't seem to know the answer straight away as it was probably not a normal question, but in saying that the advice he gave me was correct and now I know to leave the microwave plate etc in the microwave even when the convection oven is in use. My meat pies cooked on the convection oven mode where I chose my own temperature and chose the time to cook it for. It turned out to be just as long as my regular stove, but the power usage was LESS(I know this because I have an inside power usage reader installed so I can keep an eye on what is using power at the time and over time) and the result was ASTONISHING! Frozen meat pie crust has been my biggest challenge for ages. My regular oven makes the crust sooooo hard and undesirable that I have been putting them in a covered tray to try and keep the crust soft. BUT in the LG microwave convection oven the crust was crispy , flaky, tender, and the meat was heated evenly, no burnt bits. OMG, THEY WHERE PERFECT! I will NEVER EVER cook a frozen meat pie any other way ever again!

Too excited to talk properly

by
5 out of 5

I was super excited when my delivery arrived with the friendly driver bringing the large box right into my kitchen. So excited I wanted to unpack and start experimenting straight away. Looking at the large box I was unsure if I should wait 6 hours for my husband to come home to help me. After opening it up and to find I needed to get it out to access the instruction book I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as heavy as it looked, it was a little awkward. I had it out of the box and sitting on the counter in not time. I did however wait until my husband had also read the instructions before installing it. I wouldn't let him touch it until he had. He was so excited he read them that night and keeps telling everyone he can all the features. Now I just need him to use it. I love the open down door which not only makes it easier to get things in and out but also harder for my 2 year old to open or pull off the cupboard. It looks wonderful in my kitchen.

LG NeoChef - Fast Convenience & Easy to use.

by
5 out of 5

I trialed and tested the LG NeoChef - Smart Inverter in Silver- I was very thankful and grateful to test this brand new microwave it has exceeded my expectations, this microwave will sure get a lots of use for my family and we are finding the functions very convenient for fast cooking and I'm so happy for Mouths of Mums selecting me as I had alot of fun. It's easy to cook fast convenient meals in a hurry, modern sleek design is attractive, touch screen enables you to have control over the time you like to select, start as little as you want there is a button for 30 secs so great for babies, families, mothers as a quick heat up for small meals. It's very easy to clean and dark gray color inside and wipe down. You can precisely cook the amount of food you like in 'reheat' for example I cup of rice - it doesn't over re-heat the food comes out ready to eat, Popular Menu / Sensor Cook - This Microwave cooks your selection based on your (one out of 4 selections) - you can select menu and weight, great for baking, the soften feature is always great for soft ingredients like butter and chocolate this is excellent for melting it on a low setting - very useful! I cannot believe it this microwave is amazing it even has a Proof (fermenting setting for making yogurt) this is very unique and will save alot for me at the supermarket. Now I can make my own and the handbook manual has a great recipe to make it. I really love this Mouths Of Mums. I also love the microwave has a keep warm function to keep hot food warm before serving great for dinners at my house. The Inverter Defrost function is ideal for frozen foods, I've been using this a lot and it will be great for foods such as Beef, Chicken, Fish - just select your weight it will remind you when it's time to rearrange or turn over with a beep.

Best microwave EVER!

by
5 out of 5

I was so excited when the box arrived and surprised at the size of it! I knew straight away it was going to be a serious microwave! The LG NeoChef™ 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven comes with more accessories than I've ever seen inclued with a microwave! Including a steaming accessory and crisping dish and Racks! The cookbook looks impressive but I wanted to see if I could cook my usual recipes in it and the manual provided a good guise as to cooking methods, settings and times! I loved the happy little tune it played when I plugged it in and when it finished cooking! The first thing I cooked - I totally underestimated the cooking power - I made some grilled teriyaki chicken breast! They were VERY well grilled. The next batch were perfect, browned and still juicy. Using the high rack and crisping dish for grilling and browning/healthy frying goods I made crispy bacon, grilled teriyaki chicken thighs and grilled teriyaki salmon which all turned out perfectly. For the first time ever I made perfectly cooked rice in the microwave following the manual! The interior is a great size and allows me to cook almost anything I wanted to! I am super impressed with it and anticipate many more meals made in this wonderful machine which allows me to get rid of 2 machines in my kitchen - benchtop convection oven & rice cooker - and means I won't need to turn on my oven and heat the house during summer! I can't wait to try a cake in it! This is no ordinary microwave and I recommend if you can afford it - replace your basic microwave at the first opportunity!!

Microwave Managed!

Wow, what fun it has been getting to know our LG NeoChef Microwave. The manual has helped my son to improve his reading, help prepare and cook meals, and feel good about himself. These attributes are priceless. Thank you so much @mouths of mums and @LG for choosing my family! I have had a few dodgy moments, forgetting to cover food, over reheating, and forgetting just how powerful this beauty is. All in all, Microwave Managed!

Tonight I made bolognaise stuffed jacket potatoes. I reheated in the microwave leftover bolognaise we had last night and baked my potatoes in the LG NeoChef Smart Convection Oven. The potatoes were cooked fluffy on the inside, while the outside had a beautiful crispy skin but not over done Was an easy fast process with the end result of delicious. The picture speaks for its self. The only downside was I wanted to cook more potatoes but couldn't (1kilo max limit) using the function listed in the manual. Other than that they were a family hit. Will definitely makes these again using the LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven

The LG Smart Inverter Convection Oven is brilliant. My son said that it cooked his fish fingers the best he has ever had. Not soggy, not burnt or over crispy. They were golden and brown. The settings to use it were quite easy to figure out and I love how the menu is on the inside of the door for ease of use!

I have never seen an oven/ microwave that crisps up food when heated up and cooked. This Smart LG Inverter Convection oven keeps pizza crisp when reheated. It does not go soggy at all like a normal microwave oven would make it when reheated. It's so handy and perfect size. There is no need now to turn on my main big oven for simple jobs.

Defrosting made easy!

by
4.95 out of 5

Well, I am normally very hesitant to defrost any meat in a microwave due to past experiences where the meat would come out half cooked ... the LG NeoChef has certainly changed my mind! I was preparing for a BBQ at a friend's house and everything was going smoothly until I realised I hadn't taken the steak out of the freezer! I was resigned to the fact that I would have to purchase more but then I thought i'd try to defrost it using my NeoChef. With fingers crossed and sending up a silent prayer I hit the magic buttons ... EVEN DEFROSTING is what you get! LG you have converted me ... Yet again this microwave continues to tick all of the boxes!

Steaming Dream

by
4.95 out of 5

I have used the Convection, the microwave, reheated, used the grill amd the cooking menus avail and now I have used the steamer. I steamed some mini dim sims in the Lg NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven. It was a simple process of placing 300 ml of water in the crisp tray, for which then I placed the steaming plate on, then my chosen food and then the lid. My mini dim sims steamed away and when ready they were perfectly cooked by the steaming process. They were moist and throughly cooked. I found it very easy to use and the end result was fantastic. I just love this LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven for all the marvellous functions it can do within the one product. Life is so much easier for this busy mum of 4 children.

I was cooking a roast pork in my LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven when my daughters friends Mother came over. She asked me where I got the LG NeoChef from. I proceeded to tell her about how fantastic Mouthofmums.com.au is and how you can apply to test out and write a review of products. She was impressed with how it was roasting and cooking my pork and the inviting smell of dinner. I told her what the product does and it's its marvellous smart functions. She loved that she could totally replace her oven to just use one appliance. She is in the market of buying a microwave and I will most definitely shop around for an LG NeoChef. If only I made commission $$$$. I must say I am very very impressed with what this machine can do and how efficient it is. It has totally replaced my oven since I received it. Loving that it's not a massive clean up when cooking something line a roast. Bonus

A lifesaver in this heat!

by
4.95 out of 5

Due to the configuration of my house, the kitchen is barely effected by the air con so cooking is a drag! It's such a relief to use the LG Neo Chef Smart Inverter Convection Oven! Last week was a scorcher so using new the oven was not an option. I had a piece of brisket in the freezer I was keen to cook in it. I set the temp to 130 degrees (high) and cooked for 4 hours. I usually do it in the slow cooker which is a pain as it splatters everywhere. It's so nice to still have bench space to prep vegetables. The brisket turned out fabulous. I think even better than the traditional slow cooker! The fat rendered perfectly. I can't wait to clean out my laundry cupboard and rid myself of all the bulky appliances I've accumulated over the years. Can we just talk about the chime that plays at the end of cooking. It SO nice not to listen to a blank "Beeeeppp". Every time I hear it it reminds me of the song the sister sings in the talent show in the movie Dirty Dancing haha (random I know)! I've been reading some other reviews and have a nice long list of meals I'm keen to try. Every Monday my toddler and I make snacks for the week so we are going to be very busy over the next few weeks. Thanks LG & MoM for such a great appliance!

I really have not bothered much with instruction booklets with previous appliances, and thanks Mouth Of Mums for choosing me as a reviewer, and by doing so, opening up my world to the power of microwave cooking! Tried the dinner plate function. I've posted a video on this. Great microwave and a great reheat option too! The one touch system is pretty good. And I was surprised and how quickly the microwave cooled down. I am looking forward to defrosting some of my vegetables because usually when I reheat even from the fridge there's a bit of dryness and over cooking but it looks like the microwave did a great job in reheating from the fridge. Will be putting it to the test again bit so far it has been amazing!

Healthy air fry potato wedges

by
4.95 out of 5

Used my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven for healthy air fry potato wedges! From the user guide I found the settings required and quickly understood how to set it up to cook, the only downfall was the limited weight for air frying, we had nearly double the weight allowed ready to cool. Once they were in it was ‘set and forget’, a few clicks and it started cooking. I ended up with healthy wedges the whole family enjoyed in quick time!

Sleek, efficient, brilliant!

by
4.95 out of 5

After starring for a few minutes at the sleek design of this amazing Smart Inverter Convection oven, I was in love! It has so many functions and does so much all with the touch of a few buttons. At first I was a little nervous to use it, just I case I pressed the wrong thing but within a minute I was under control. The first program I tried out was the grill function. Usually fish fingers in the microwave come out soggy, frying them makes them too oily and to turn the oven on for 6 fish fingers sometimes isn't worth it. The LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection a Oven cooked them to perfection in just 12 minutes. They come out crisp, not burnt or oily. My son said they were the best he has tasted. So far I am loving this product ☺️☺️☺️

Beef Strog - NeoChef YUM

by
4.95 out of 5

My gosh, this microwave is a winner! It reheats like a dream, but I put my son put it to the test tonight by cooking Beef Strog and Rice in the oven... I was very cynical, thinking it would be a disaster, tough meat, sour cream split. I stand corrected! My gosh, the meat was melt in mouth, my son added more tomato paste and mushies, and a wee bit more stock and YUM YUM YUM. Our microwave dish was not quite big enough, so we mopped up spillage with ease, with paper towel - Brilliant, simply brilliant!!!!! Buy one, it is a revelation!

So I heated up some leftovers this evening for dinner and I was so impressed with the NeoChef Convection Oven. All I needed to do was follow the easy instructions and in a few minutes I had a perfectly reheated meal - no uneven cooking and no burnt bits! What I particularly loved about the machine was that it was SUPER QUIET! Our home is open plan, and the kitchen is directly next to the television area. While my last microwave was so loud it would disturb the whole house, the NeoChef is so quiet that I don’t have to worry about using it while others are around. I am really particular about wiping down appliances each time they have been used - even if I’m just steaming veggies - and I loved how easy the NeoChef was to keep clean. Just a quick wipe down and it’s ready for the next use!

I was beyond excited to receive my brand new LG NeoChef 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven this week all thanks to Mouths of Mums! The hardest part was getting it out of the box and onto my kitchen bench. Where it now sits proudly as the star of the kitchen! After reading through the very easy to follow instruction manual, set up was a breeze. You simply plug in the microwave and set the clock and you're ready to go! After reading through the accompanying recipe book I decided to test out the microwave and made Vegetable Terrine, following the recipe exactly using the combi convection setting the Terrine cooked to golden brown perfection. Cooking evenly all the way through, which would have never been the case with my old microwave. I was so impressed I used the steam function to steam some broccoli and cauliflower; while cooking I made a cream cheese sauce to accompany the dish. I can't wait to try out more great recipes in this great microwave! Stay tuned!

I love to cook a weekly roast for my family, but as it’s been so hot lately, I haven’t wanted to use our oven. So instead, this week I used the NeoChef and the results were brilliant. After following the instructions on the inside panel, I roasted the chicken and it came out beautifully. What I loved being able to add too was some healthy-fry chips. Normally I don’t give the kids chippies as when I cook them in the oven they tend to hold a lot of oil and fat. But with the NeoChef, they were light and fluffy on the inside, while being wonderfully crunchy on the outside. I couldn’t be happier!

Stylish and so simple to use

by
4.9 out of 5

The LG neochef is my new best friend in the kitchen! It is sleek and modern looking with most of the controls hidden inside the door and certainly packs a punch in the power department at 1200watts. I was very surprised at how quickly and effectively it defrosted some thick chicken pieces, my old microwave would have taken around 15mins whereas the neochef had them perfectly defrosted in around 6mins and with no annoying brown spots! The neochef is also fantastic for those times when you just need a quick burst of power, just press the start button on the front and away it goes for 30 seconds, perfect for small quantities. The most impressive function for me is it's ability to reheat a frozen pie and keep it crisp and golden brown with no soggyness! Brilliant! I've always had to use an oven in the past and the neochef saves me about 15mins and avoids heating up the house unnecessarily. My kid's also love the melody it plays once the food has finished cooking (not a standard beep like some others) it is so quiet during operation I nearly forget it's actually running and the bright led inside makes it easy for me to keep an eye on my cooking without having to constantly open the door. No messy bubbling over! I have also found it very easy to clean, just a quick wipe over with a damp cloth is all that is needed and it is also quite resistant to fingerprints too. Overall this is a great microwave that is so easy to use (with all the functions labelled clearly) that can handle the toughest defrosting jobs to the most delicate of melting chocolate with ease. A definite time saver and I'd recommend it to any busy households.

I love to bake for my little ones but as it’s been so hot lately, and my oven tends to heat the whole (un-airconditioned) house, I haven’t been baking as much as I normally would. Enter the NeoChef Convection Microwave oven! I decided to bake my usual Banana Muffins in the NeoChef instead of the oven and to be honest, I was a little skeptical about how they would turn out. But there was no need to worry as they were as moist and delicious as ever. All I did was follow the instructions and voila - beautiful muffins for my kiddies without heating the whole house. The NeoChef is definitely my new favourite appliance … I can’t fault it!

Simple to use, great results

by
4.9 out of 5

Well I'm well and truly over my fear of a convection/microwave oven. I've used it every meal since I unpacked it. Poached eggs and porridge for breakfast using the microwave, tuna and cheese melts for lunch using the grill option and tonight a roast chicken using the microwave and bake functions. I'm having fun experimenting with all the functions and it's all relatively straightforward once you start. I've used my other oven a lot less and my time is being used more efficiently as I use the Neochef more and more. One of the features I like is the pull down opening. It means I don't have a door blocking half the kitchen and I don't have to close it constantly. It takes up a lot less space. The healthy fry option worked wonders on falafel that I made for a non meat dinner. The crisp tray is a great size, nothing stuck to the tray and the falafel was browned perfectly. I used a lot less oil than stove top frying and it was quicker too. The kids have used the Neochef regularly to warm milk, heat up spaghetti and warm chicken for sandwiches. They've asked to be shown the grill function to see if they can make toasted ham and cheese sandwiches. I'd love the recipe book and instruction manual to have more details of how to cook with the grill. More examples and pictures of how and what to cook would be useful. I have a theoretical idea of it but would love the practical help too. I'm hoping to use the steamer function in the next week and the kids have asked to cook biscuits.

Well I can now say after having used this microwave a number of times each day since I received it nearly a week ago - that I have no idea what I did before it! Used the recipe book that came with it a couple of nights ago to make the cannelloni and it was delicious!! I used the combi convection setting and it baked the pasta evenly and perfectly according to its temperature and time. I have also used the microwave to sterilise my sons bottles and to defrost meat both of which are quick and easy with their respective settings. An added bonus is the little tune when things are ready and how it reminds you if you forget (which is more often than not).

A stunning, elegant, outstanding kitchen appliance!

by
4.85 out of 5

Where do I start! ! The convection oven exceeds any other microwave I have ever seen, not only in elegant appearance, but the diverse functions it provides! We unpacked and installed it last night and today I was able to spend some time looking over it. . I'm absolutely amazed with all the functions! Our oven at home is very old and takes forever to reach high temperature so we had to purchase a separate convection oven specifically for the roasts... this microwave COOKS ROASTS, steams, fries, slow cooks... it does everything my old oven "should" do. . plus so much more! There is A LOT to read in the user manual which covers all the functions and settings (I still cannot believe everything this can do! ) and it's going to be some thorough reading as I can see myself getting a little confused only because there is so much you can do! We seriously no longer need to use our old oven anymore which I love! Everything we need to do can be done with this appliance! The recipe book is great too by giving me suggestions so I can get use to using this . Im going to cook the Candied Pork Sirloin with honey and soy sauce ... and then the marinated chicken breasts with lemon. . I will give them all a go! It's a great idea adding this book to the convection oven. I'm also loving the healthy fry and steam option. . I no longer have a need for my other appliances like my fryer, steamer or my oven! This is like 5 appliances (if not more!) in one! Roasts, pasta, cutlets, potatoes, lasagne, fries, chicken wings, chops, schnitzel, sausages. .. who would have thought these can all be cooked in this! I'm incredibly grateful to have been chosen to review this amazing product. .. and im looking forward to making my first dish in it this week. I'm absolutely blown away. .. this is everyone's ultimate kitchen appliance!

Childs Play

4.8 out of 5

My kids are constantly hungry and I can't keep up with the never ending demand so I taught my 10 year old how to use the microwave for heating but more importantly he can now cook full meals using the inverter convection oven. He doesn't need to use a stove top or grill and he cooks fish, sausages and chicken. He's enjoying his new freedom and I'm loving a few extra minutes to get the washing in. The healthy fry function is fantastic. Quick, simple to use, safe and easy to clean make it my new go to method for meals.

Still consistently used and hugely useful

by
4.8 out of 5

Christmas and New Year has been the usual busy affair. Fridge full, pantry overflowing and leftovers galore. I've used my NeoChef Convection Microwave consistently and even used more of the functions. Tonight was bacon cooked with the healthy fry option and I was impressed. The bacon was not over cooked and crunchy but instead perfect for me. The crisp plate cleaned up nicely too. I've found myself showing off the NeoChef when family have come over. Most have never used or seen a convection microwave so I've become quite a demonstrator. I'm impressed that I'm still finding ways of using the NeoChef. The user manual lives next to the microwave and I'm writing notes to remind me of how long and which setting. It is simple to use, easy to clean and I still use it every meal. It would be great to have a Facebook page where we can swap ideas and get handy hints for everyday functions.

All the functions are outstanding. . Best appliance in my kitchen!

by
4.8 out of 5

So I decided to make the Grilled Salmon Filet on Boxing Day, and followed the instructions from the "Recipes in the Sun" recipe book which came with the appliance. I was really eager to try the grill function. We poured the oil into the crisp tray and lined up the 4 juicy salmon filets with the skin facing up and placed it on the high rack and grilled it as per settings of GC-3. Loved how the tray rotates to ensure even grilling and that I could easily view the cooking status. The salmon skin was perfectly crispy and the salmon was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly.. I could not fault the results whatsoever. We served it up with sundried tomatoes and basil and some freshly made coleslaw. This was such a beautifully tasting dish and is one of my favorites. . You cannot beat salmon cooked in this wonderful Neochef. I look forward to making so many more dishes and this 4th review certainly won't be my last! This appliance is my favorite appliance in my kitchen!

Lemon chicken: 'surprisingly' good

by
4.8 out of 5

I firstly have to explain my use of the word 'surprisingly' in my title: I have never cooked from scratch using a microwave before. I've always used it for reheating or defrosting or similar, but I've always thought the microwave to be a poor 'cooking' appliance. However, I decided that, since I had agreed to take the product through all its paces, I would attempt one of the recipes from the provided book. I chose the lemon chicken and (spoiler alert), it was surprisingly good. I admit, I was a little dubious, but I followed the recipe and used the crisping tray with oil, lemon juice and cut lemon on top. The recipe suggested 20 minutes on the Convection cooking setting at 180 degrees and I waited patiently for that little tune I've come to enjoy. At the twenty minute mark, I took it out and tested it with a fork. It was still a little pink inside, so I popped it in again for ten more minutes and a sprig of rosemary. This time, when I took it out, it was done. I thought the colour wasn't as attractive as it might have been had I browned it in the frypan. Nevertheless, I plated it up with mushrooms and asparagus on the side. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The lemon had permeated the chicken and it was really juicy. I would certainly make it again. Here's my pic (note: the little marshmallow snowman on the side was not made using the LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven, but it made a tasty dessert).

Quick no mess meals for my baby!

by
4.8 out of 5

My 10 month old son loves roast vegetables but I often am a bit reluctant to turn my large oven on to roast a small amount of food. I also find that it doesn't cook evenly and I'm constantly trying to readjust my oven tray. The LG NeoChef Convection Oven microwave is SO good that it cooks the roast vegetables in the tray that comes with it in 15 minutes flat. All I need to do is set it to the correct function which is in both the instruction manual AND on the microwave itself, enter the approximate weight of the vegetables and press start! I give the veggies a toss half way through and it's done! This honestly has made things for me much easier and hassle free. I must also say that I love the little song when the microwave finishes instead of the usual beeps.

Outstanding appliance creating unbeatable results!

by
4.8 out of 5

I was interested to know how well this fabulous appliance reheated meals, and if it reheated evenly.. I made some seafood mee goreng and placed it in the microwave with some cling wrap over the top - selected the manual cooking function so I could select the heat mode I required (P-90) for 5 minutes to start with. I liked the fact I could increase or decrease the cooking times when needed. This evenly cooked the complete meal after I increased the cooking time as required, and the cling wrap has no melted sections in it (which sometimes happened with my last microwave). The meal came out evenly heated, and I was so impressed when comparing it to the old one we use to have! We cooked the garlic bread in the microwave and it also cooked and came out evenly heated and the crust was crunchy! I love the fact that this can do what my oven should do.. but its so old it seems to take forever in it.. so this is a great replacement making meal preparations so much easier! The internal light is so bright and the pull down door is actually really convenient.. I like it! Cooking in this is going to be so much easier and the results will be incredible... reheating meals is fabulous as the heating is even throughout the meal. So many functions enabling us to cook every meal we desire... what a fabulous creation by LG!! I honestly love this LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven and would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a reliable appliance which can replace multiple appliances in your kitchen. It looks so sleek and stylish and the chime when the cooking has completed is so much better than the usual beeping from other microwaves!

It cooks better than my oven does!

by
4.8 out of 5

We decided to make croissants for breakfast with ham and cheese and I decided to use the OVEN feature to heat the ham and melt the cheese. My kitchen oven is so old it takes forever to reach the selected temperature which makes cooking meals take so much longer. I preheated the microwave using the oven selection and selecting the desired temp. You can actually view the temp setting on the microwave display which is a great feature. It chimes when the temperature is reached so you know when to put your food in. We used the low rack and set it for 10 minutes (think i will decrease the set temperature next time. . All trial and error ). Loved being able to view what was going on inside so easily and could increase the cooking time by the dial. It gets very hot in there and certainly reaches the temperature required very quickly! I love that I can use this microwave as an oven. . It really does combine multiple appliances into one! Everything is so easy to use and the user manual explains everything really easy. I'm so satisfied with this amazing machine. .. it does everything! !

Pretty good omelette

by
4.75 out of 5

Okay, so I've really only just started eating omelettes - to tell you the truth, I've really only just started eating eggs, as I'm trying to change my eating habits and I've never been an egg fan - so I'll preface this by saying that I'm not that great at omelettes to begin with. But, I thought 'how hard could it be?' and treated it as a great experiment for the LG NeoChef convection oven. I looked up a recipe for a simple omelette: mushroom, spring onions and spinach omelettes - and I set to work. So it takes a bit longer (okay, a lot longer), but I've gotta say that they turn out pretty light and fluffy and (as far as eggs go), they were pretty good. I'll definitely be trying them again.

Since receiving our LG NeoChef 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven it has changed the way we cook. We use it for simple defrosting to baking a roast chicken. My 11 year old daughter has used it to melt chocolate for her choc-dipped strawberries on Christmas Day. This microwave is the most intelligent appliance in our kitchen, with its smart features and sleek looks I would now be lost without it!

Defrosting and heating baby food!

by
4.75 out of 5

One of the main things I need a microwave for is to make, defrost and reheat baby food. The Neochef has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen as I was able to steam pears in the steamer then after blitzing them with my stick blender I froze them in an ice cube tray. When it came time for my baby breakfast I defrosted them on DEF-4 0.1g and after 1.10minutes my NeoChef sung its happy tune and the pear was perfectly defrosted, ready to add to hot cereal. The best part, it wasn't over heated and over cooked, all being done without me having to go back and forth checking on it. I can see the defrosting feature, with its even heating is going to come in handy! Well done - now to grill some Salmon for dinner!

Quick and easy baked chicken and vegies!

by
4.75 out of 5

I received my microwave this week, once unpacked and looking beautiful in my kitchen I set about my first meal! Hubby wanted baked chicken and vegies, it didn't take long to understand the settings to make a delicious all in one meal! From the user guide and handy cookbook I had everything I needed. Once everything was in it was almost 'set and forget', a few clicks and it started cooking. We ended up with an evenly cooked chicken and vegies ready to serve - straight out of the microwave. Minimal cleanup as we used barely any oil. Empty plates all round meant a successful first meal in the LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven.

One of the best and most useful kitchen appliances I've used in a long time.

by
4.7 out of 5

I would like to thank Mouths of Mums for giving me the opportunity to review this device. I was sent a free LG NeoChef 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven in exchange for at least four reviews. This will be my fourth and final review - published to both my own blog, as well as to the Mouths of Mums site. Please note that my rating for this product may change in each review as I get to know the device more, learn the tips and tricks and so on. My final rating is 4 out of 5. Again I find myself having to apologise for the delay in this review. I had wanted to try out a few more things to really put the NeoChef through its paces, but just didn’t really get around to it due to so many other commitments as the summer school holidays started to wrap up here. I really learnt an important thing – never again will I offer to review major appliances over school holidays! :-D Okay, onto the actual review. Well, I am still absolutely loving the LG Neochef and all the things it can do… well, except for its griller function. Of that, I really am not a fan… even when you preheat it first. The griller in my oven is faster and therefore the more favoured device to use when making grilled cheese sandwiches. But what the Neochef is good at is… • Defrosting • Reheating • Baking • Sensor cooking • Steaming • Airfrying • Proving These are all things I have done with mine and am simply amazed at how good it is and how easy it has made my life! Let’s go through them all… Defrosting – I took 2 kilos of frozen chicken legs, followed the defrosting settings, allowed the “sitting” time afterwards and had a load of perfectly, evenly defrosted chicken legs I could then marinate and cook for dinner. Sadly I couldn’t fit them all in (there were almost two dozen) into the NeoChef so roasted them “old style” in my oven. Reheating – The whole family is amazed at the reheating capability the LG Neochef has. It takes far less time and heats so evenly you really don’t need to take it out, move the food around and reheat yet again. And reheated chips come out crispy – not soggy! Score! Baking – Okay, we readily admit that all we’ve really tried here has been the odd mug cake or minute pudding. But, again, it does it evenly, faster than the regular oven and, most importantly at this time of the year, without heating the whole house up. Another win! Sensor Cooking – Three words for you: Perfect baked potatoes. I have become addicted to them since discovering how easy they are to make in the LG NeoChef. We’re having some for dinner tonight topped with a chorizo and beef chilli bolognaise creation of ours. Yum yum. Steaming – steams veggies to perfection and makes the most amazing scrambled eggs. Really not much more I can say to that, except that I need to make some Chinese buns and steam them to see how it goes! Airfrying – My kids loved the potato gems I’ve airfried in The Beast. I keep meaning to try homemade veggie wedges and will one day soon. Actually, what I feel would be perfect is make baked potatoes, quarter them lengthways, scoop out a lot of the middle to use in a cake or something and then airfry the rest…. Mmmmm, homemade potato skins with savoury yeast and sumac… MUST try that! Proving – from yeast dough (spelt or wheat) to dairy free yoghurt. It can do it! I still prefer my slow cooker for the yoghurt side of things but am just SO in love with the yeast dough proving the LG NeChef does that I can see our bread costs going down as I make more at home. So easy to get the perfect rise now! Okay, so that is all I’ve done… I have a pork loin in the fridge to be roasted in The Best tomorrow night and so if you follow me on Instagram, look out for the pics! Also look out for tonight’s baked potatoes. ;-) Would I recommend this product to others? Yes I would. Ten times over I would. Especially those with a tiny kitchen and a dodgy normal oven. The LG Neochef is an oven, a microwave, a steamer and them some… it is just so useful I can’t recommend it high enough. I just don’t like how it grills. But hey! Would I buy this product for myself? Yes I would. I can’t see myself going back to a standard microwave oven after this. Yes it costs a LOT more than a standard microwave, but it also does a whole heck of a lot more so you can’t really complain! In summary: The LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven is indeed one of the best kitchen helpers I’ve come across in a long time. Easy to use, so many functions, so many possibilities to make your own food from scratch! Highly recommend.

Best appliance in my kitchen!

by
4.7 out of 5

I have absolutely loved trialing this incredible appliance and using all the incredible functions! It's definately replaced my oven which is old and takes forever to reach the desired temperature and both my partner and i love the diversity and ease of use. It looks modem and everyone who sees it comments on it. Is a certain highlight! We've used this oven almost daily and everything has turned out great. It's so easy to use and the additional racks etc which comes with it really opens up the ability to create so many more meals. The pull down door is great too.. it's not annoying in any way. The chime when finished is nice too. We've cooked from eggs, salmon, chicken, steamed dumplings, rice, roasts, lasagne, to defrosting and also using the healthy fry system. This replaces multiple appliances in my kitchen, by providing the functions of my steamer, fryer, oven and slow cooker into one Oven. What a creation! ! I can confidently say that I'm incredibly impressed with this and can recommended it 10/10 for anyone considering purchasing one. It's well worth owning!

Healthy cooking made easy

by
4.7 out of 5

I decided to forget my preconceived notions about cooking in a microwave and give it a real go. I also decided that, since I'm trying to eat healthier, that I'd give the 'Healthy fry' option a go. I paired some tasty chicken with zucchini noodles. It wasn't from the book - or any other recipe. I pretty much prepared the chicken with some olive oil, herbs and a bit of lemon and popped it in on the convection setting. So simple. I used a veggie noodler to get the zucchini noodles and cooked them while letting the chicken settle. I've got to say, for a healthy meal, this was pretty yummy. I'll definitely be adding it to my dinnertime repertoire.

Quick to pre-heat

I decided to make my trusty zucchini slice using the Convection Cooking function. I found that the temperature was reached quickly - even before I'd finished prepping the ingredients. As this is a new machine, you really do need to read the instructions and practice to make the most of this appliance. I forgot to use the low rack for the first 15 minutes of cooking. I don't think it broke anything!

So I forgot to take some meat out for tonight's dinner and decided to use the defrost function ... with the LG neo chef I found defrosting a breeze so much faster and it defrosted the meat evenly without cooking it .. So easy to use too ! This is one function on my old microwave I was too scared to use as it would often cook parts of the meat and defrost and unevenly.. I'm just loving this microwave !

4.7 out of 5

So I finally got to try grilling Salmon in my NeoChef - OMG so easy. I little sprayed oil in the crisping tray, lightly seasoned 3 fillets and placed onto the tray and into the microwave on the high rack. Using "Cook mode" i went to GC-3 for 16 minutes and it was cooked BEAUTIFULLY. Compared to using my oven, it was easier and more moist. I didn't have to preheat, which is a great time benefit! I will definitely only cook salmon in the NeoChef from now on, i have a frozen fillet in the freezer I am looking forward to getting out and defrosting, then cooking, i think i can make it as an easy dinner for my rush to feed my toddler by 5:30 :)

Reheat Function A DREAM!!

4.7 out of 5

Over the last week testing the LG NeoChef I have found a new love for the 1 Cup Reheat function!! Let me hear you if this rings any bells...cup of coffee brewed, sit down to enjoy said cup of coffee..."Muuuuuuuuum", cup of coffee forgotten. This happens to me at least four times a day & truth be told I was starting to spend a fortune on pods by simply making another cup...only to have it go cold again!! With the LG NeoChef it's a simple reheat; 1 Cup; Start. Not scorching hot like molten lava but a perfectly reheated coffee to enjoy...maybe. I really love this function & think the LG NeoChef's hit the nail on the head with a function every mother wants, or dare I say it, NEEDS!!

Cooked a roast pork and bam it's the best crackling ever

by
4.65 out of 5

Cooked a roast pork using the inverter cooker selection on a low rack on the crisp tray, was so easy to do just by dialling the programmed selection of 3-6 and I put the weight of a 2.2 kilo boneless pork at the max weight of 1.5 kg. It showed signs of roasting within 10 mins my crackling had started to puff out and crackle. I waited till it made a chime to turn meat over. Once meat turned over it kept cooking. As my pork weighed more when it finished I put it back on the setting with a weight 600grams but as I kept checking it, It was cooked with 10 mins to spare. As you can see the results speak for themselves. The pork was moist and tender with crackling how it should be. Was really happy with the result but found when I went to clean inside after dinner that some oil stains occurred and don't come off. So that's the only real negative here for me.

Defrosting with the NeoChef is a breeze!

by
4.65 out of 5

i tried the Inverter Defrost today on some Frozen Marinated Chicken Pieces, worked perfectly. It was as simple as Choosing Meat type (meat, fish or Chicken) selecting the weight, which i just read off the packet, and press start. A 1.4kg batch took 22 mins to defrost, it did not start to turn the chicken white as my old microwave used to do on its "defrost" function, and all the pieces were totally defrosted with no frozen bits at all. ( i posted a pic so you can see no cooked bits!) I can see this being a huge time saver on my less organised mornings when i forget to get out the meat the night before.

Not as scary as I thought

by
4.65 out of 5

I have always been a little scared of combination microwaves because I just didn't know how they worked. I threw myself in at the deep end tonight. It was unpacked this morning, I read the manual through a few times then cooked rice with the microwave and white brownies with the convection oven. I was so worried it wouldn't work but it couldn't be easier. I saw a cake recipe in the included recipe book and adjusted as needed. The brownies cooked beautifully and I could see them easily while they were cooking. Having another oven was great tonight because while I was cooking dinner I could have dessert ready and cooling. I've worked out the buttons but I'm still looking at the manual to work out how to use more of the functions. I can't wait to try out the healthy fry function.

As I can bot have a baby gate in my kitchen I felt like I was constantly trying to ccok while fending of kids hands from my oven but now with the LG oven it sits high on my bench top so no risk of burnt hands and also has a child lock feature. Pumpkin Scones for the win!

by
4.6 out of 5

Tonight I made Pumpkin Scones in my Neochef! The fact that I've been craving them for a while made them even more good to eat. And my toddler devoured them! I followed a basic recipe I found online and put them in the crisp tray on baking paper. They turned out great! I'm super keen to try brownies next week. Also very keen to try a roast. The recipes in the manual are a great guide and definitely help to motivate you to try lots of new dishes. And in this qld heat, I'm all for not having a hot oven running for hours! I have noticed that it does have a spot where it heats a lot more (to the point where I definitely couldn't touch that part of the bowl!). But not a major problem for me as most of the time I don't heat things super dooper hot.

I'm never using my oven again

by
4.6 out of 5

Using the healthy steam function following the instruction guide, I used store bought potato chips in my sleek and stylish LG Neochef Smart Convection Oven. Chips brown, have crispness and taste not as oily as what my normal oven seems to cook them. I used the high shelf and crispy tray provided. I've also made homemade sausage rolls using the convection oven feature. The pastry was golden brown and not soggy which is a huge bonus. I made these for my sons birthday in front of friends and family who were equally impressed how well they cooked and how little clean up was needed which really all us moms want. Using the microwave feature I've reheated meals and made pasta alfredo for the kids. I wish the crisp tray was slightly bigger so I could cook more food for my family of 6. It's great to just let the LG Neochef just do the guess work and cooking for me. I can spend time doing other things like laundry eek yep there's always something to do or spend time with the kids without worrying if dinner burning. It's a fast, smart machine and I'm in love with it.

Sleek and stylish!

by
4.6 out of 5

Upon receiving my new LG Neo Chef convection microwave I was immediately impressed by the stylish design. It looks great and will fit in with any modern kitchen. One thing that I did find a little unusual, however; was the door that opens forwards, hinged and the bottom. This can make things a little awkward in my kitchen as my microwave hutch is up high. On the plus side, however; it does make it a little easier to fit larger pots and pans into the microwave which is great when using the convection feature as my old microwave didn't get used a lot for convection due to the small size and not being able to fit oven pans inside. In the attached video review you will be able to see how I went with my first try at using the convection feature, as well as cooking scrambled eggs and simple reheating. My verdict is that the Neo Chef is a powerful microwave that seems to cook faster than my older machine and the preheating function gets up to temperature a lot faster making it far more efficient which is great for busy mums!

So excited to receive the LG NeoChef 39L, unboxing it was fun, especially finding the steaming cover and tray inside along with the recipe book which has lots of yummy things to cook. The microwave is extremely good looking and I love that the door opens down. The challenge I now have is to find its permanent home as it needs space all around it (20cm either side and above at minimum) for ventilation. But for now I've managed to Airfry potatoes and most important of all, warm my demanding toddlers milk bottle to the right temperature with ease. The best part is listening to its delightful little song it sings to tell you its finished. Next I'd like to roast a chicken and or grill Salmon as well as make the Pear and Hazelnut crumble from the recipe book!

Looks great - and cooks even better

by
4.55 out of 5

My LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven arrived a few days ago and I was very excited to get started. With three kids who arrive home from school and demand to know 'what's for dinner?', something quick and easy is always preferable, whether it be defrosted, reheated or cooked from scratch. I unpacked the box and had it set up so quickly, ready to use straight away in reheating some leftovers for the kids. I had it in mind to cook something later from scratch, so had to get them fed, bathed and popped to bed so I could put my full concentration to the task at hand. I thought I'd start with something easy and made the pickled peppers from the recipe book. Unfortunately, I'd run out of olive oil a few days earlier and forgotten to pick up some more. Nevermind, I substituted spray oil and, while they weren't as crispy as I thought they might have been, I've got to say they were pretty yummy with some roast pumpkin, asparagus and smoked salmon. I even took some to work for lunch the next day. I took a heap of pics of my meal as I was quite proud of how it turned out, then (ridiculously) promptly deleted them from my camera without downloading them. I was so annoyed at myself, but suddenly remembered a very old program I once purchased to retrieve pics from a deleted camera card. I dug it up and it worked, so I do have the pics to show how it turned out. Yay! As for the actual product, the kids and I quite like the cute little tune that plays when our meals are ready. I'm quite excited, as I already have a dishwasher that plays a little ditty and a washing machine that can be programmed to play (using different press button codes) to various national anthems (and other tunes). I just need a refrigerator that keeps a beat and I'll have a household band! I'm looking forward to trying out many new healthy meals in this great product.

This would be saving me a fortune as apposed to preheating my oven and cooking as the convection oven is very energy efficient. In one day we have heated bottles, healthy air fried chips, Grilled 3 sandwiches and roasted our lamb and veg.

When its too hot for the oven, this is GREAT!!

by
4.5 out of 5

So over Christmas it was VERY HOT in Melbourne, and the last thing we wanted to do was use the oven as too increase the heat in the Kitchen. This is where the 39L NeoChef Microwave came into its own - a fantastic option to roast the pumpkin, for out summer cous cous salad. I Actually ended up using the FANTASTIC airfry setting & within 17mins the pumpkin was perfect for the salad, as seen in the pictures. There was no need to preheat, and the kitchen didn't warm up as the Microwave doesn't run hot & has a fan system to cool itself down. I am LOVING my NeoChef and to be honest with or without it being hot outside i'll be using it over my oven for most cooking!!

So, I've been using a 24 litre microwave that my partner bought before he met me! You can imagine what I said when I found out I would have a new LG NeoChef 39 litre Smart Inverter Convection Oven in my hot little hands! My mother in law was here when I opened it and she was clearly jealous. Who wouldn't be?! I'm a huge cook. I make all our meals from scratch so this is a big deal for me! I spend a good 3 hours in the kitchen every day and this will help make those hours more enjoyable! First impression is WOW. It's so sleek and modern and beautifully designed. The fact that the door opens down is a really nice feature. I'm about to read the manual and get my cook on! Stay tuned for what happens next...

Easy to roast chicken

by
4.45 out of 5

I'm not much of a roaster, but decided to test it out with the LG Neo Chef Smart Inverter Convection Oven. I followed the instructions as per the manual (included with the microwave). I was meant to turn the chicken over when the oven beeped, but I must've been distracted because I didn't what it, so the chicken was not crispy on the other side. Apart from me missing the beep (I'll remember to turn halfway next time) the chicken was cooked beautifully. I used the crisp tray to collect the drippings and made a yummy gravy with it. Definitely easy for a novice cook like me!

Godsend for Grandma!

Firstly I dont know why two of my reviews are not showing up as this is the 6th I have written (baby brain amd I never his submit maybe?) But never mind that! Thanks to this Mouths of Mums trial and to LG NeoChef I was able to help out my MIL. Just as Christmas approached her faithful oven of 30+ years died, a dramatic death resulting in the glass door crashing to the kitchen floor. Cue the entry of the all singing (literally), all dancing (figuratively) wonder oven! As much as this oven has been great for me allowing me to cook things I wouldnt have been able to the past few weeks such as lasagne, roasted chicken, roasted veg, and shepherds pie to name just a few (8 months pregnant and then having my tiny daughter early) Clearly this oven is meant to be at Grandmas house! So far there have been cookies, baked potatoes, all manner of steamed dinners and vanilla cupcakes and she has only had it a week. Goodbye Microwave, Farewell wall oven, hello NeoChef!

Fantastic quality this product delivers

What can I say. This convection microwave surely has had a workout in my house with all family members using it to some capacity. First cooking attempted was cookies on the convection setting. Easy, simple and fast. Next up was Pizza tried on various settings. Some pizza was frozen and some was fresh. I found the pizza was best cooked on the preset pizza functions which gave a lovely crispy base. When I tried the pizza on just convection setting the base did not crisp up for me. My kids have been able to easily cook up some frozen delights such as wedges and chicken nuggets. One evening when late home from grocery shopping my daughter and I were able to cook our chicken pies from frozen in an easy 20 mins where in my normal oven it would take just 20 mins to heat up. I must say the cooking rice function gave fantastic results. By far the best microwave ever at steaming rice. The rice turned out nice and fluffy. I am still yet to try brown rice steamed in the microwave. A friend told me to how to cook the best chocolate cake using a combination of microwave power and convection cooking. Easy cake cooked in 25 mins by my 12 year old daughter. My husband loves the downward opening door. When cooking and steaming vegetables once again outstanding results. Far better than my old lemon of a microwave. Next up to cook this weekend is a boneless roast chicken. I see some reviewers have been able to do this with great success. I must admit that I was very unsure about the sensor cooking function as the manual states that you need to enter the weight of your vegetable and potatoes etc. However on accessing the menus no weights are required which makes the process so much easier. I am still getting used to the interface and how to access the correct menu however this will become easier with more use. Best thing that has made cooking far easier for me is being able to cook a variety of foods on microwave power and convection at the same time to decrease standard cooking times. Think that covers it for now.

Received my LG Neochef convection microwave oven on Friday and first impressions were that the look and design are very impressive. I like that the door opens downwards instead from the side and that it comes with multiple additional items to assist with the huge variety of cooking methods. Spent my time reading the manual and the recipe book and will be trying out a first recipe tonight for dinner! I spend so much time in my kitchen everyday that I have no doubt this new appliance is going to be my new best friend.

Making Dishes of roasted veg was becoming a struggle at 8 months pregnant. bending down to my normal oven just wasnt happening.. Having the LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Comvection oven saved my favourite lunch from being unattainable! Im still not a fan of the included cookbook but now I am becoming more familliar with the functiins I can easily use my own favourite recipes! Also baked some Christmas shortbread biscuits in it, not as efficient for large batchs as the regular iven and cookie sheets but good for smaller batches and they came out perfect! Loving This Oven!

Easy buttery goodness

by
4.35 out of 5

Nothing worse than trying to spread rock hard butter on your morning toast. This was the perfect opportunity to try out the 'butter melt' function of the microwave. No more guessing how long to put the butter in for, the timing works perfectly giving you perfectly softened, spreadable butter. Would be great for baking as well. I'm still finding the mircrowave great to use, a little more involved than your run of the mill microwave but with time and practice will be second nature to use.

Sensor Cook - simple!

by
4.35 out of 5

It is safe to say that we've been limping into the new year so when I had a fussy baby and no patience, I turned to my LG microwave to help out. This time, I used the Sensor Cook function to cook some pasta. All I had to do was pour boiling water into a bowl with the pasta, cover in glad wrap and then press three buttons and we were away. About 20 mins later I had a perfect portion of perfectly cooked pasta that I mixed with some mashed avocado and sprinkled with cheese to serve to the baby. Finished product in the photo! The main benefit of cooking this way is that you can get dinner on and do other things that require you to leave the kitchen without leaving a pot of water unattended on the stove. The manual gives other ideas of what else you can cook using the sensor cook function - rice, steamed veggies, jacket potatoes as an example, which is a great back up for those dinner times where you're rushing to get something tasty and nutritious yet quick on the table. There was bit of water spillage after my cooking which was easily wiped away - another thumbs up.

Thank goodness for this oven!

4.3 out of 5

Easy mini shepherds pie, wedges without bending down to the oven, and the quickest way to cook/heat instant/microwave/planover meals. I love this thing! Having given birth a week ago my Hubby was able to still have some healthy dinners from the freezer while we were still in hospital. And once Home all I wanted was a good shepherds pie, (there was a very poor attempt at one in the hospital at least I think thats what it was) and there was no way that could have happened if I only had my big clunky, I have to bend down to it oven. As a bonus the pies cooked quicker in the LG NeoChef as I was able to use the combi cook function. Winning! I have. Big kitchen so the space this needs for venting isnt so bad especially with all the use I am getting out of it, but I could see it being a real issue for someone without a lot of benchspace to put it.

Unboxing done in less than 5 mins......My kind of device!!

by
4.3 out of 5

I had the LG Infrared Convection Microwave oven out of its box and ready to go in less than 5 mins, with minimal packaging and an easy "water mug test" we were all systems go for cooking up a storm with this new appliance. It is no bigger on my kitchen counter than my current microwave which is great in a small kitchen, also the door opens down just like an oven ( i will admit this took me a bit to workout in the beginning!!) It's got a much brighter internal light, and i was surprised to see it had a little grill on the back of the roof inside for browning food! There is a written reference display once you open the door that gives you all the codes for heating and cooking different types of food which is handy. Another feature i liked was how bright the time display was during the evening, i was able to see the time clearly from across the kitchen during the night. A pleasant feature was also the "Chime" that sounds when it is done heating, it's a lovely little melody, not the usual Blaring "Bleep, Bleep" you usually get with other microwaves! First impressions are Good, it's lovely sleek black design is so nice in my kitchen, Im looking forward to putting it through its paces later this weekend with some of our classic family recipes, For now I'm off to finish reading the owners manual.........

Mini Roast Heaven

Possibly the easiest mini Roast dinner I have ever made. And no bending! (At 8 months pregnant thats a big plus!) Stram the spuds and mash them up while the mini roast is cooking in the combi setting grill to get crispy skin and as the meat rests take 5 minutes to cook all the broccoli! Also using the oven to make chips for a snack as I write this! Loving my oven, only downside is it take a lot of bench space.

Traditional Roast Chicken in the LG Convection Oven.

by
4.25 out of 5

I Tried my Traditional Roast Chicken in the LG NeoChef, i've only had the most basic microwaves in the Past, so i have not done much microwave cooking. The LG NeoChef microwave oven could not have been simpler to use. I prepared the chicken just like i would if i was going to cook it in the oven, with homemade stuffing and all, put it onto the low roasting tray, it took just under an hour too cook, i turned it once and it browned evenly on both sides. Carving the chicken it was moist and my stuffing was perfectly cooked on the inside! My Family said it tasted just like i had done it in the oven, id have to agree! Makes for an easier clean up too, it feels like I've got less greasy dishes to wash when i cook with the LG NeoChef. This is my Second week with the LG NeoChef Microwave, how did i get by without this Dream Machine in my life...............?

Used my LG NeoChef™ Smart Inverter Convection Oven for healthy steamed chicken breasts last night – quick, easy and best of all minimal clean up! I ended up with evenly cooked chicken ready for an assortment of meals.

Super easy salmon cooking

by
4.2 out of 5

We cook salmon almost every week, usually in the frypan, which takes time standing by the stove and testing to see when it's cooked. I tried the version in the included cookbook of the Neochef and was delighted by how easy it was - oil and salmon fillets in the tray, on the rack, setting and time and presto, perfectly cooked salmon fillets! Will definitely be cooking it this way in future.

Food food glorious food

4.15 out of 5

I've had my microwave for 2 weeks now and it's certainly proving to be the most valuable appliance in my kitchen. The first thing I ever used it for was to soften sweet potato (boring? yes!). But it handled that brilliantly. I've since upped my experience and made potato bake and cheese on toast. The cheese on toast had me scared. I was half expecting the high rack to start sparking just because I've never put anything metal in a microwave before. But of course, on the correct setting, it worked wonderfully. Truthfully there is only one downside to the appliance and that is the marks that form on the door. Easy to wipe off, yes. Easy to forget to wipe off, yes! For the amount of times I use the Neo Chef per day, I should really be wiping it down every day but time gets away, toddlers get IN the way and next minute it's 3 days later and my other half is commenting on the fingerprints. But really, it's such a beautiful appliance that I'm really being picky when I mention the fingerprints. Lots of Christmas cooking coming up so I'll be putting it through its paces over the next few days. Really keen to try all the settings. Fun fact: the dial pushes in and out. Naturally my 2 year old discovered this before I did. It's little things like that, that show me LG is thinking outside the box to make it a slim and sleek appliance. Can't wait to try a brisket in it for Christmas!

Stylish design, full of features

by
4.15 out of 5

The LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Oven is stylish and matches the other appliances in my kitchen easily. The only thing is that it is quite large and will have to sit on your bench top. If you have a small kitchen, you may struggle to find a spot for it as it won't fit in a standard microwave niche. You are meant to keep a 20cm clearance around the back, side and top of the microwave. I have had a read of the manual and I'm impressed by all the features! On top of the standard microwaving, you can steam, fry, dehydrate and more. I will have to keep the manual handy until I become familiar with its functionality. There is also a childlock feature to prevent curious fingers from pushing buttons and turning on the appliance by accident. I'm Looking forward to making some yummy food with the LG NeoChef Smart Inverter Convection Microwave Oven.

It can't dance, but does everything else (yes, even singing)

I’ve had this microwave for a few days now, and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what it can do. I don’t have a working stove at the moment and for the first time in a long time that’s not feeling like such a handicap, because this microwave can do just about everything I’d usually fire up the stove for. The purely superficial: it’s gorgeous. I love the way it looks in my kitchen, the stainless steel and modern style look fantastic. I also like the construction of the door. To be honest I wasn’t so sure about a flip-down style at first, but it feels sturdy and requires much less force to open and close than a standard one that latches, so it won me over. :) The only downside - the size. It does need a fair bit of space on the bench, or a really large and deep overhead microwave cabinet. It’s definitely much more powerful than my old microwave, it heats up food much faster and seems much more even (I’m SO HAPPY to not have to deal with really cold spots in otherwise nuclear-temp foods anymore!). It’s also consistent, which is a huge plus; I’ve been putting baby bottles in and they’re coming out the same temperature each time. And the space! The spaaaaaaace. I love the interior space. I roasted a huge dish of veggies in there last night (enough for six adults kind of huge). I also steamed a big container of rice and didn’t have to get out the rice cooker. This is quickly becoming my go-to in the kitchen. Also. Let's just take a moment here. It can do grilled cheese on toast. I think I’m in love. Looking forward to giving it a workout and a half over Christmas!

Defrosts with ease

by
4.1 out of 5

I am one for constantly decided what to cook for tea at the last minute which results in always defrosting meat in the microwave. I have now defrosted meat in the microwave twice. First was minced beef. The invertor defrost function worked so much better than my previous microwave however when finished it was still slightly frozen in the middle. I removed the defrosted portion and only returned the still frozen portion to the microwave for a short time. The second time was 3 chicken breasts. The defrosting here worked so much better. The chicken was nicely defrosted and no edges where cooked as per my old microwave oven. I still need to get used to all the bells dingy while defrosting to know what they all mean however I will get used to it. On a down note which I need to investigate further is there is a sound like a small rattle when the turntable is going round. I have checked the rack that the turntable sits on and this did not resolved the problem. All in all I would still highly recommend this microwave.

Huge, Shiny, Speedy, Singing Oven..

by
4 out of 5

Just received this very impressive looking oven to review on Tuesday afternoon, unpacked after work and instantly tested. Its bigger than I thought, inside and out but it is fine on the bench to make sure the 20cm of ventilation is there and has the bonus of matching my stainless steel kitchen, so a bit bulky but still looks nice. All the neat accessories and ideas in the recipe book have got me excited to properly put it through its paces this weekend and over Christmas. For the moment I know it heats up leftovers and mugs of milk quickly and efficiently, and plays the cutest little tune when its done. I am looking forward to making some healthy chips and testing out the grill and roasting capabilities of this bad boy this weekend and over Christmas!

Amazing how to heats/reheats/cooks evenly!

by
4 out of 5

I would like to thank Mouths of Mums for giving me the opportunity to review this device. I was sent a free LG NeoChef 39L Smart Inverter Convection Oven in exchange for at least four reviews. This will be my first of the four published to both my own blog, as well as to the Mouths of Mums site. Please note that my rating for this product may change in each review as I get to know the device more, learn the tips and tricks and so on. For now, the rating is 3 out of 5. I can see the rating will most likely go higher, I just simply haven’t had the time to try my new kitchen baby that much as it only arrived late Tuesday, it is the last week of school for the year for my kids and, well, things have been a bit crazy. My review today will be more a ‘first impressions’ opinion, and my next review will be where I start putting the NeoChef through its paces. And so, what are my first impressions? Gosh it’s big! :-D It is not only a little bigger on the outside to my old microwave, but inside it is HUGE! You honestly could roast a decent chunk of meat for a large family in there. We don’t do roast turkey at Christmas time as way too hot, but if we did I can see the LG NeoChef 30L being able to do it. The back of the device also sticks out a lot more than my old microwave and we need to actually pull it into the middle of our bench and away from the wall to use it so we ensure it has the required 20cm space around it when cooking. Then there is the fact the door swings down, rather than out to the side and this just adds to the amount of space it takes up. So yes, the size it in some ways a bit of a negative… but I have seen it as an excuse to re-arrange my kitchen and maybe install a new cupboard! Win win! ;-) We took it out of the packaging, loved that it actually came with both racks and the crisp tray and steamer you need – unlike the Philips Airfryer that said you needed these items but didn’t include them – so another big positive right there. I went through the instructions and did the ‘warm water test’ it asks you to do to ensure the microwave wasn’t damaged in transportation. All works well and what a groovy little tune it sings when it’s done. Much better than that monotonous BEEEEP most microwaves do. I will have to try and record it to share if I can. Too cute. The microwave did have that “new item” smell and there were no instructions on whether we needed to give it a wipe out, heat it for a while first, etc. before use and so didn’t. I do feel we should have as, the first thing made in it was using it as a griller and the whole house filled with a chemically smell and we were uncertain if the food cooked should be eaten after the odour. In most heating devices – like a wall oven, toaster or kettle, they do advise you to heat it up first before use. Nothing of the sort – besides the ‘warm water test’ of 20 seconds – was mentioned in the manual. Oh, and there is a big spelling error/typo in that warm water test. We assumed we were to FILL a cup with water, not FILE it with water as said in the manual. But I am yet to see a manual these days that isn’t riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. I know a lot of my work includes such clangers too, but I’m a reviewer and not a major company. You would think a major company could spend more money getting their written documents up to scratch. But perhaps I am being a bit picky as user manuals and documentation is what I used to do for a living! However, speaking of bad documentation, the cook book that comes with the LG NeoChef is horrible! You can clearly tell it was either written by someone where English is not their first language or, more likely, some sort of translator software was used. It is not pretty and I don’t think I will be able to use it to make anything. Which is a shame as I am yet to find any recipes online for this device either. I would have at least expected something at the LG website, but zip! Okay, that is enough of being a negative nelly as, quite frankly, no modern device has a decent cook book or easy to read manual no matter the brand. And, more importantly, I don’t want to say anything too mean about my new kitchen baby as I love it too much! ;-) I’ve only used it to reheat meals, melt some honey and coconut oil for some honey roasted cashews I was making, and grill a cheese sandwich. But it is early days people! I still have a piece of pork to roast in it, a stew to slow cook, yoghurt to make and, according to my children, popcorn to pop. I also want to see how it goes as an airfryer as it has such a marvellously LARGE capacity. For now, all I can tell you is this: Melting coconut and honey – took 35 seconds, heated it evenly and quickly, easy to figure out how to use it and to raise or lower the time as needed. Loved it, worked a treat. Reheating food in it – again it evenly first time and that makes SUCH a different to other microwaves where there is always one part that is piping hot while another is stone cold. Again it also took less time to do and the cooking time and heating level was super easy to change (I had read the manual you see). No complaints, big thumbs up. Grilled cheese sandwich? Divine. My eldest daughter (11) made it with me driving the NeoChef. She complained it took too long as she normally makes toast, slaps some cheese between it and zaps it for 30 seconds. Where with the NeoChef it was like using the griller in our oven – only easier! Took about 4 minutes a side to grill, it did it evenly so no burnt patch next to an underdone patch and definitely less fuss and bother than doing it in our wall oven. So, for me, a win. All my daughter could say was “It’s alright, and not as soggy as the old microwave”. Still, can’t please everyone! I will say though that in grilling the sandwich in such a smooth, even manner I see GREAT potential for making pizza in this oven. Either using a homemade base or even just a tortilla, pizza in this baby looks like it’s going to be A-MAZ-ING! I can’t emphasise enough how amazed I am at the even cooking/ heating/ reheating it has done. Have NEVER seen that in a microwave before! All in all though, for the limited interaction I have had with the LG NeoChef Smart Converter Oven, no complaints from me! I simply cannot wait to try a few more things and report back to you all next week. I just need to decide with I want to bake, roast, grill, slow cook or make candy! I feel I will need to pace myself and that this is going to be the start of a long and very happy relationship! Would I recommend this device to others? To be honest, I feel it is too early in my reviewing to make that sort of comment. I mean, yes I am loving it and can see a lot of potential in it as it is meant to be able to do so many different things… But it is quite a lot of money to invest into a device – average retail price is $700 – and so I want to put it through a few more paces before I would truly recommend it. Would I buy this device for myself? To be honest, due to its price, if I was looking for a new microwave right now I wouldn’t. BUT! That is also because I know nothing about it and would assume I have enough devices already with my slow cooker, thermomix, etc. The thing to realise though is this is more than just a microwave and if it ever does go to appliance heaven I feel there would be a big enough hole in my heart left for all it does that I now WOULD seek to buy a new one. But that is only because I’ve gotten to try one first. In summary – so far so good, amazing how to heats/reheats/cooks evenly and I really can’t wait to see what else it can do!

Arrived Today

What a surprise after work tonight to find the LG microwave waiting. Kids were so excited, from memory one commented that it felt like Christmas. Anyway down to the first impression nitty gritty. Very easy to unbox and setup and get going to heat up a cup of water. Very elegant looking design. I first noticed when opening the door that it was drop down hinged which I like. Also the brightness of the internal light is great. Another great thing is no internal wasted space. The turn table utilises the whole space available. I spent I bit of time reading instruction manual. Then straight into it. Kids and I cooked a batch of cookies as per the recipe in the instruction manual using the INVERTER COOK function. They turned out great and cooked in far less time than it would take me to heat my oven up. I'm looking forward to trying many other great recipes similar to my fellow reviewers. Fir example rice and roast chicken. My hubby noticed something I missed. The installation placement asks for at least 20cm clearance around each side of the microwave. We noticed that for this to be achieved that you would need a rather deep bench. Far larger than a standard. Anyway looking forward to lots more cooking and experimenting. So are the kids. They have already asked me how do they cook their porridge in the morning Thanks for this opportunity.

Perfect Salmon

3.9 out of 5

Let me start of by saying that I don't cook fish. I am not allowed to cook fish as it never meets my husbands expectations. So last night I decided to cook the Salmon as per the small cookbook which came is the microwave. The result beautiful and I have now been given permission to cook fish again. Even the kids all ate the salmon which I was surprised off. The only thing I was worred about was over cooking it and the oil that is placed in the crisp pan. No issues except I will drop a few minutes off the cooking time next time to suit my husband. Also afterward the wiping out of the oven was very easy however over time I am not sure how to go about cleaning the grill gaurd at the top of the oven. Very satisfied and easy to use. Would certainly recommend. I type this as my kids are cooking pizza in it.

It's huge!

by
3.85 out of 5

I was finally able to coordinate with the delivery centre to arrange delivery on a day I was home. First impression - it's huge! The dimensions above actually have the depth and height mixed up. It's 32.5cm high and 50 odd cm deep. Which means this won't fit in a standard microwave space or butler pantry shelf (which was where I was planning to put it). It will now have to sit on my kitchen bench. Can't wait to read the instructions and install the product to test it out!

I just unboxed the Neochef. The design is indeed sleek and modern, and the setup was relatively easy - just plug in, and test it's working by heating a cup of water for 30 seconds - impressively fast! The instruction manual was a little confusingly written, with a strange font and lots of random capital letters. The microwave itself is much better designed!

Easy steaming but more equipment

by
3.7 out of 5

To go with the great salmon I cooked in the Neochef, I decided to try the healthy steam function for some broccoli on the side. Following the instructions was pretty easy and I'm sure it was healthier than using the usual microwave steamer plastic container, however it did seem to be a bit fiddly using the 3 piece steamer tray for 100g of broccoli. Still, the kids ate it which is a winner! I would probably stick to my traditional steaming methods and use the Neochef for slightly more involved cooking (see my review of the great salmon fillets).

First time trying the grill function

by
3.1 out of 5

It's my first time using this time of appliance so I thought I'd try out one of its non "microwave" features to test it out - starting simple with grilled cheese on toast for a 10 month old. The instructions were fairly simple although I would have liked a tray or something to put under the toast on top of the rack to keep the rack clean. 3 minutes and presto, melted cheese on top and whilst not super toasty, the bread was a little firmer than fresh bread. Overall a good consistency for a baby - pity he didn't like it anyway!
