Perfect for entertaining
by mom93821Combined rating
I love our pasta maker and so do the family and the extended family. I have to say that it has made entertaining a breeze as everyone can socialise and chat while the pasta is being made for lunch and dinner. Entertaining is actually pretty cheap too and definitely cheaper than an Italian restaurant.
Why I gave 5 STARS!!!
by mummaneeCombined rating
I would hands down recommend the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker to others!!! So I really enjoy fresh pasta but with 3 little munchkins in toe now I don't really have the time to make it.. the old fashion way. A few of my friends have "other" pasta making machines and I have asked them to show me how there's work. Of course I had to have a taste test as well. HANDS DOWN the Philips machine is quicker, easier to operate and the taste of the pasta far out accomplishes the "others". I have even convinced one of my friends to get rid of their machine and buy the Philips brand! The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker is quicker than expected to use.. oh yes it is! So I did a time test.. - 2 minutes to get out machine, all ingredients, plug in and place ingredients into the machine - 15 minutes for all pasta to be made, cut and drying on a pasta rack - 12 minutes to wash and set to air dry - I min and 30 sec to pack up and put away (after drying but who stands there and watches it dry right... ) TOTAL - 30.5 minutes Those of you who have ever made fresh pasta know that you would barely be done needing the dough let alone be cleaned up and packed away! The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker is suitable for lots of recipes.. Of course, I was even able to cater for family members with food allergies.. when I told them we were having fresh pasta they gave me the look of "Ok and what am I getting to eat". The response from family was "Where did you buy it and exactly what is in it". I was able to show them the recipe, and even prepared it right in front of them. What can I say it was a dinner the whole family was involved in! The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker brings back the joy of cooking at a whole new level!!! All the family is involved and for our 10 year wedding anniversary my darling husband even pulled out machine and made dinner with the kids all by themselves. I love the fact the whole family is involved and we are improving our quality of eating by being able to hide lots of veggies from the kids and even making some fabulous pasta salads to have as a side dish. I honestly swear by the Philips Pasta and Noodle maker, I was so sceptical that it was going to be hard, too time consuming and really just a pain to have in our kitchen. It has become one of the family bringing us all together at meal time, thank you from a very happy mummy and her family!
Making life easy
by mummaneeCombined rating
Well it has happened.... I managed to make a least 2 pasta dishes a week using my Phillips Pasta and Noodle maker. It is so easy and so much fun for the kids to get involved. The kids take turns in measuring everything out and Master 5 has even mastered cracking eggs! Now if little Miss 2 and Master 1 could crack eggs without getting shells into it, I would be onto a real winner! This miracle maker machine not only churns out pasta at lightening speed but is easy to clean up afterwards. Just as an added bonus it all packs away compactly and conveniently... I am very happy to say that I finally after many years look forward to getting in the kitchen with new little friend the Phillips Pasta and Noodle maker!
To feed a small army!
by missworstencroftCombined rating
We had a surprise visit at our house last night from another family - that meant 11 mouths to feed! While I would normally be uninspired, and horrified by this situation, I had a lightbulb moment, and decided to make fresh pasta for all of us. A quick sauce using passata, garlic and fresh basil from the garden, and we had a wonderful evening. Thanks Phillips and MoM for the opportunity to give this fantastic pasta maker a 'whirl'!
MIGHTY MEATBALLS AND PASTA MADE IN THE PHILIPS PASTA AND NOODLE MAKER
by 0303mel69Combined rating
I was needing a quick mid week recipe for my boys. Having the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker on hand the problem was solved. As I got onto making the tomato sauce and meatballs, my 2 sons aged 8 and 10 got onto making the pasta. The machine is so easy to use, they love it. The beauty of this pasta is that all components can be frozen. Extra meat balls and tomato sauce and be frozen for another meal. I did find the pasta a little firm to the bite, so I recommend cooking it a little longer.
Philips Pasta Maker makes an awesome lasagne!!!
by 0303mel69Combined rating
Tonight I decided to use my Philips Pasta Maker to make a Béchamel Lasagne. I used the wide disc to make the sheets. From previous experience, after the pasta was made, I precooked the sheets for about 10 minutes in boiling water before putting the lasagna together and cooking it in the oven. Pasta from the Philips machine I have found to be a little firm to eat. I have made cannelloni before and the family commented that the pasta was a bit thick and firm after cooking. Today I found that by pre boiling the sheets of pasta the lasagna turned out fantastic. I will definitely do this again in the future.

Whole dish made in less than 1/2 hour, from making pasta to serving it for dinner. Easy to clean and I use a kebab stick to clean out the little bits of pasta.
All Sorts of Pasta!!
by BernieCombined rating
I was so surprised when I open this machine to find not only does it do penne style and spaghetti/noodles but it also does sheets of pasta. So I used an old favourite recipe of ravioli and replace the usual wonton sheets with this freshly made pasta. The extrusion process meant that I could cut the sheets to the exact size I wanted as they came out and I could start filled them straight away. They were so fresh and tasty and we can't wait to make more and try the sheets for lasagne.
That really exciting moment... when the pasta starts being extruded!!!
by missworstencroftCombined rating
Tonight was a quick, basic pasta night. We made a basic durum spaghetti, which is such a quick and easy process. While the pasta was mixing in the chamber, I quickly made a basil pesto. Including cooking time, a completely homemade, packet-free meal was made in about 20 minutes. A winner with hubby, Miss 8, Mr 10, and being so quick and easy - Mummy!!

- I'm sure I have already posed this review for this recipe we made, however I can't find it - so here is another review and an update - just in case! (lucky I saved them all to my computer!!) I would hate to have to send my awesome machine back!! "28th April 2015 - Spinach Lasagna Just wow! This is my 4th review and I still love love love this machine!! So far we have cooked Chicken Ravioli, good old Spaghetti, Veal Scalopponi Fettuccine, Singapore Noodles with curried noodles Tuna casserole with Penne and now Spinach flavoured Lasagna sheets! This machine is so great! Tonight we made lasagna with spinach pasta sheets. It was so awesome pouring the spinach juice into the machine and watching it turn green and then it started coming out in sheets! My 2 yr old and 4 yr old thought it was the best thing since the Octonauts hit their TV screen! It was so easy to slice the sheets to the length needed and then layer them up. BONUS it took way less time in the oven to be perfect than with dried lasagne sheets - no crunchy uncooked bits on the bottom!! This machine is truly great and we are having such a great time using it. It is so quick and easy - I can't see us going back to store bought dried pasta!! Thanks again Philips and Mouths of Mums for letting me trial this machine for you! I hope you have enjoyed the recipes I have put up and I can't wait to try some of the other mum's recipes in the near future! I have to say, my favourite so far has been the curried noodles when I made Singapore noodles!!"
Time to get creative
by mummaneeCombined rating
So if you read my first review, I was some what worried about having to learn yet another cooking appliance as a mum of 3 I try to make the most of everyday, every minute and every second! My first ever fresh pasta dish from my Phillips Pasta and Noodle Maker had me hooked and there was no going back! I am so very happy to report that I did source out many recipes (some still on the to do list) but I was able to get creative and hide some of those dreaded vegetables from the kiddies!!! Even with doing new recipes and fresh pasta I'm still saving time compared to making my pasta from scratch! I did my Grandmothers lasagne recipe but with SPINACH PASTA SHEETS. Oh my oh my it was delicious and the kids just went to town. They they thought the green pasts was "So much yummer than white pasta" haha There you have it folks from the mouths of babes! I have posted the recipe up on here under the recipe section "Mimi's Lasagne with a green twist". I hope you take the time and try it and please let me know your thoughts! I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine. At the end of the day, there hasn't been a week that has gone by without my family enjoying a fresh pasta dish. Its still a novelty and even though I am trying to do a new dish (with all the extra time I save making my pasta) each week, the kiddies are making requests EVEN for the healthy veggie packed meals! Thank you Philips for your amazing machine, its simple, easy to use, easy to clean, stores away without taking up too much room and this machine alone has brought me back into the kitchen experimenting and enjoying what I can put on the table for my family. I highly recommend one for your kitchen as it ticks all the boxes. Worth every penny and as I said I use it weekly and haven't used stored bought pasta since its arrival! PS - There are two other recipes about to hit the page "Zombie Pasta" (you are correct more hidden veggies) and My "Easy Pea-s-e Chicken Bake"
Fresh, Easy and Amazingly delicious

When I received my machine I was thinking... well here go, another machine and item to learn all whilst juggling 3 kids... But who doesn't love fresh pasta Right!!! What can I say, I unpacked it all and started to read the manual. It was easy, it all packed away nicely and compact and from what I could tell it was relatively easy to do. I went to bed thinking tomorrow I will give it a go but surely it can't be this easy. Afterall I had made fresh pasta from scratch and it was such a long drawn out process, worth it but with three little kids it was a "once every couple of months" treat. I set out with the goal to make a least one FRESH pasta dish a week. The next morning I got out my machine, and started off with a quick easy spaghetti, the family favourite. I had one more quick read of the steps and got out my ingredients. That wasn't so hard, before I knew it the ingredients were mixing and within minutes I had FRESH pasta coming at me! There it was, the smell of fresh pasta, all under 20 minutes!!! I had mixed my ingredients, It was producing fresh pasts, I cut the pasta to size and set aside to dry out. BAM it was done already for dinner later that night. I washed up, set aside to dry and was off to my normal daily routine. Dinner rolled around before I knew it and there were 3 hungry little children all with little mouths open like little birds waiting to be fed. However as you would know, the sound these three little birds made wasn't as pleasant as a baby bird, but hey you can't have everything right, after all I had fresh pasta about to hit the table! Whist the bolognese was simmering away I put on some water to boil. Before I could say "presto" pasta was cooked, bolognese sauce was added and dinner was on the table. It was by far the best tasting FRESH pasta I have ever made all without the hours of hard yakka and flour in every square inch of the kitchen. I was hooked, line and sinker.... It was from this moment, the first time using my Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker I went on to source out more pasta recipes for my family.
Coloured Noodles
by mom93821Combined rating
Last night we had a noodle making competition in our house using the Philips Noodle and Pasta Maker. The competition was to make the most interesting and tasty noodles. We ended up with some wonderful coloured noodles and they were tasty and good to eat. This machine has given us so much fun-we really do love it!

We love our Philips Pasta Maker and the whole family enjoys using it to make delicious pasta and noodles. It is such an easy machine to use and to clean and store. We have also saved a lot of money by making our own pasta and noodles. We now eat a lot of pasta and noodles. Our favourite thing is making noodles and eating them regularly for lunch. We also have fun making our own sauces to go with the pasta and noodles. The noodles are great with our soy beef and vegetable stir fry. I would recommend this machine to everyone!
quick and easy to use, makes pasta very fast
by mom120992Combined rating
After seeing the pasta maker on this site I had to get one. It is fantastic. We make pasta every Sunday and it makes enough for us to have for dinner the next night. Easy to use and quick to make the pasta. Clean up is fine we put the attachment in the freezer for ease to get the little pieces of dough out then wash up. A definite thumbs up and highly recommend it.
What a versatile and quick appliance!

Ramen! So easy to make at home! Way quicker and cheaper than calling your local Japanese restaurant, and using pantry ingredients too! This required the ramen attachment, but was a cinch to make. Fun for all of the family to make and eat together, and simple to personalise for fussy eaters and people with allergies.
What fun! And quality too!!

I made penne with my Hospitality class to show them how amazing simple food was. The students were so excited to see an everyday product being made in front of them! Their faces lit up and they were excited to sample the penne with a basic tomato and garlic sauce all prepared right in front of them in such a short space of time.
Dessert pasta adventures
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
Last night I had my first attempt at making a chocolate dessert pasta. I had been wanting to do it since I received the machine, but couldn't quite work out what the dish would be. Inspired by a bowl of fresh oranges, I decided that it would have to be the classic flavour combination of chocolate and orange - or jaffa! Using the same basic principles for making regular pasta, I adapted the recipe to include cocoa and for sweetness, some icing sugar. I also used 2 eggs instead of and egg and water to give it a little extra richness. I made a ravioli, so used the lasagne disc setting. The pasta came out beautifully and made several large sheets for my ravioli. I was careful to lay the sheets between damp paper towel so they didn't dry out in the meantime. I made a ricotta, white chocolate and orange filling and assembled my ravioli. This was a bit trickier than I first thought - I have never even made normal ravioli, so was flying a little blind. Plus I had a whingy, teething toddle attached to my leg or hip the whole time, so it wasn't the most pleasant experience! Anyway, I managed to get a few that looked ok and held together well. They cooked up well and I served them with thick cream and fresh orange segments. I was quite happy with the taste of the pasta. It wasn't overly sweet, but had a definite chocolate flavour. Make sure you use a good quality cocoa if you're going to attempt this as I think it will make a difference. I have posted my recipe if you're interested, and I think next time I'd make either an orange syrup/sauce or a dark chocolate orange fudge sauce (will have to wait for a time when I don't have the clingy toddler!). Overall, still very impressed with what this machine can do, and how it makes you think up all the creative dishes you can make!
Some days you just need Mexican!
by miss emmajaneCombined rating
I don’t know if you have seen those Old El Paso advertisements on TV where the little girl comes up with a new idea (ie Stand ’n Stuff) and the whole village goes crazy. I kind of felt like that girl tonight; ok, it may not have been the entire village but it was my village - going crazy. Because people it’s been the kind of weather that has made me think about Movies and Blankets… and Nachos. Some days Italian and Asian recipes just don’t kick it like Mexican recipes do. Let me break it down people. That Philips Noodle and Pasta maker I am reviewing makes corn chips too. Corn Chips! Serious oversight by the Philips people, I know. Plus they are really easy to make – no more trying to roll the dough to the same thickness all over. Normally the recipe reads easy then it gets all complicated when you try (just like pasta really). Nope, no more! Firstly, Polenta and Masa Harina are not the same thing and you cannot chip with Polenta (though you can make good cakes). I like Bob’s Red Mill brand as it is Gluten Free but there are others – fortunately these days most health food stores stock it so it is not impossible to hunt down. You can also make Tortillas from it. Corn Chips are a basic mixture of Masa Harina, salt and water. You use the machine as you would normally with the adjusted amount of water (recipe coming soon to the dinner section) and extrude through the lasagna sheet disk. With a sharp knife you cut the flat sheets into chip shapes (rectangles which you then halve corner to corner). Now you can cook them in the oven but for a flat chip you want to use a sandwich press (actually you can cook bacon and hash browns and a whole lot of things on those presses). They cook in a few minutes and with an egg flip you pop them into the bowl and get the next load on. I don’t recommend cutting them after they are cooked because they break easily. It is actually way faster than you would think. The results are good too. I am going to make another batch and post the recipe ASAP. That means another Mexican night at our house all in the name of recipe testing! I really wanted to share this with you guys because it is amazing, and it just shows how versatile the machine can be if you think outside the box. I do however wish there was more recipes with alternative flours. As each type of flour absorbs a different amount of liquid it is not as simple as just 1-to-1 substituting. You have to have a fair amount of knowledge around what the flours work like. As an example coconut flour absorbs a lot of water and can make things really dry if you are not careful. The quinoa flour worked reasonably well. Chia egg won’t work as an egg substitute; however I have read that a flax egg may be the gluten free vegans solution. I am also still voting on Amaranth flour as a good binding agent if a flax egg doesn’t work. There is a lot there so I am really hoping that more comes of it. As for cleaning the machine, I just wanted to let you know that if you or your friend were to, say, leave the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker machine overnight and not clean it till the next day I have it on record, from a friend, that it will still clean with as much ease as if you cleaned it after use. You can also soak the disks for a few minutes to loosen any extra dough stuck in the disks. That is faster than freezing the disks (as recommended); one of the positives of being plastic. I personally find all the dough comes out with minimal effort. Sometimes I use a toothpick, but generally the provided tool works just fine (I can be a bit pedantic with wanting things clean). Hopefully you find this review amazing (corn chips) and informative. I will take some photos of where I am storing the machine in our small kitchen for the next review. It is under the bench as I find it is not too heavy. We also used to have a pasta maker that lived in the cupboard so I fished it out and did a rearrange. I posted a Pink Penne Pasta Salad recipe in the Dinner section if you are interested in checking it out: https://mouthsofmums.com.au/recipe/pink-penne-pasta-salad/

We have been absolutely loving and having a ball with our Phillips Pasta Maker. The entire family has absolutely loved using the Phillips Pasta Maker to create and make lots of delicious and tasty pasta dishes. It is such a simple and easy machine for the whole family to use and has become a favourite thing for us to do as a family. We have pasta making nights and we especially love creating interesting and different pasta. The kids love playing with different coloured pasta and it certainly does look interesting and different on the plate. All of the pasta regardless of colour gets eaten! ;)
The only appliance we fight over
by sarahsampsoniteCombined rating
I made the mistake of thinking it would be a great way to test our new Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker by teaching my mostly-competent-in-the-kitchen husband how to use my shiny new toy. I walked him through the process when he was making Ragu the other night and now he won't leave my machine alone. His meals are now all planned around creating a noodle dish and we're practically fighting each other off to get to use it. I know I've said it before but I just can't get over how easy this is to use.
Easy for everyone

I can't get over how much I love this machine. Cooking is one of my passions and I really want to share it with my daughter, this machine is letting me start that already. While cooking noodles to go with our dinner last night my 20 month old requested to help me dump the flour and water in the make the noodles, which she could easily do. It's so great to be able to start her already assisting in the kitchen so she can learn where her food comes from and it makes our evenings together that much better that she can actually help me put the meal together. We had such a great time!
Gluten Free Pasta Success!
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
I have been playing around making gluten free pasta for a little while, but haven't been happy with either the taste or consistency. Today, I finally had a breakthrough! Using a combination of rice flour, tapioca, xantham gum and eggs, I created a pasta that tastes similar to regular pasta, but looks the same, and has the same texture and consistency as regular pasta. I had been a little frustrated that the recipe book included with the machine didn't include any GF recipes as I would have expected that this would be the ideal product for people with food allergies/intolerance's. Also, with the way that the machine works, you can't just use any pasta dough recipe as it would be way to sticky to work. But now that I have been able to create a GF recipe that I'm happy with (and Miss 4 took one taste and said "more"!), it just cements my opinion that the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker is a fantastic appliance for every kitchen! It is just so versatile and I think it's a case of only being limited by your imagination as to how much you can do with this machine! **My recipe will be available under the 'Dinner' section of the website"
Easiest home made ravioli ever!
by mom88918Combined rating
I love home made ravioli, but I HATE the time it takes. Last night I decided to make kale and ricotta ravioli using my Philips Pasta and Noodle maker. This time I used the supplied jugs to measure the flour and water (I usually use my electric scales). I was happy with the consistency of the pasta dough when using the jugs- I didn't notice any difference from how I usually do it. One suggestion I would have is to get your filling ready prior to starting the pasta when making ravioli. I always forget how quick the machine is so I started the pasta machine off and then started preparing the filling, but the pasta sheets were ready first and they had to sit around for a little while, which caused the first batch to crack a bit. I decided to make two batches and freeze one. I had the filling ready before the second batch of pasta sheets and they were much easier to work with and turned out perfectly. I made big raviolis because I was a bit rushed for time as I was doing it in my son's nap time, but they honestly took no time at all. I had made a quick basic tomato based pasta sauce in my slow cooker earlier to have with the ravioli. Once again the machine was easy to clean. There is a small indent in the end of the mixing blade that I find the dough gets stuck in but is easy to clean with a washing brush or the end of one of the cleaning tools. I am very happy with this machine and I am looking forward to making some more ravioli with different fillings. This machine is so easy to use I haven't even bought dry pasta since I recieved it. I have stocked up on flour though! I have also found it helpful to make more than I need and to freeze some. The pasta freezes really well and is easy to just chuck in some boiling water for those nights when I get in late.
This machine is do easy to use and easy to clean

I've had the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker for a few weeks now thanks to Mouths of Mums and I'm certainly working it. This weekend I've spent blocks of time making spaghetti as the books mentions to give the machine motor a rest. The machine is a pleasure to use and I just want to keep making pasta to not only cook for my family but to give to friends.
Noodle Soup Success
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
Tonight I made chicken noodle soup because suddenly the weather has turned cold here in SA, and I felt like soup to warm us up! I wanted to try making noodles as a change from pasta. I used the basic wheat noodle recipe (flour and water) along with the lasagne disc. I made long sheets of noodles, and then sliced them into about 1cm width noodles for use in my soup. They turned out really well, and held together nicely! Once again, they were a cinch to make, and tasted fantastic! It's hard to believe that only flour and water could produce such great tasting noodles! I love the lasagne disc in the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker as it is very versatile and allows you to create lots of different shapes and lengths etc.
Need quality pasta quickly, think of the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker
by mummydivaCombined rating
Thanks to Mouths of Mums I received the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker to review. Excitement from "what's in the box" to placing on the bench, reading instructions and washing components. It would be great if the recipe book had a picture of each shaping disc used for easy recipe. The maker comes with 4 discs (penne, spaghetti, fettuccine, lasagne), although I think the penne disc should be named penne rigatoni since the tubes have ridges. I'd like to see a smooth tube penne. There is a compartment beneath the make to place the discs. Since I normally make my own pasta by hand using egg with the flour and water, I used the same ingredients for the machine. After experimentation I think the pasta without egg is best. Cleaning was certainly simple other than pasta getting stuck in the end of the mixing paddle. I was a bit slow to understand the quickest way to clean the penne disc and now it's a breeze if I freeze the disc and the dry bits fall out. Even though this doesn't have the velvet silky shine of my hand made pasta, it is very impressive to be able to make a quality pasta quickly. No more shop pasta for my household!
Garlic Spaghetti
by kahlCombined rating
So tonight I made spaghetti bolognaise. But I wondered what the noodles would be like if I infused the pasta liquid with garlic. I was up for the challenge as I love the garlic flavour! So I used mince the garlic and let it sit for a good half an hour! Last time I made the spaghetti I let the spaghetti sit in little bundles. Since reviewing this machine I have learnt a lot about making pasta - you can buy a spaghetti close line! Huh! So as I don't have one - I improvised with chop sticks! The pasta was much easier to cook & I didn't get the clumping! The taste was delicious! The garlic flavour really came through! Hmmm - need some fresh mints tonight! Guess there will be no vampires in our house!
Super Easy Cannelloni for Dinner
by 0303mel69Combined rating
My boys have been asking for their grandmother's cannelloni. So I thought that I'd use the Phillips Noodle and Pasta maker to make the fresh sheets of pasta and then continue with my mother's recipe. My son is still on holidays and he insisted on helping out. You can see him in the photos. My son is 10 years of agenand after a few simple instructions he was on a roll. He made a whole batch of pasta on his own from measuring the flour, to making the pasta and then cleaning the machine. It was so, so easy, I was so proud of him and he is super keen to try out more recipes. We kept the pasta covered until we were ready to roll up the cannelloni, so that it did not dry out. The pasta is in the oven cooking and I will post the recipe later tonight. I can't wait for the family to sit down to dinner and enjoy what my son and I have created!
4 weeks in and still enamoured
by sarahsampsoniteCombined rating
I have been using the pasta machine for 4 weeks now and I can't get enough of it. I love how space age parts of it look but it's still so easy to use. My only problem with it is that it's a bit big and heavy to fit anywhere in my kitchen, but that's not enough to turn me off from it. This is a machine worth making space for.
Gave me a night off from cooking!
by mom88918Combined rating
Just had to post a quick review today. My husband usually cooks a night or two a week and quite enjoys it, but only has a handful of recipes up his sleeve and he gets a bit intimidated to try new things. Anyway, today I wasn't feeling too well so hubby offered to cook dinner and use the new Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker. I talked him through it from the comfort of the couch and he whipped up some delicious fresh fettuccine to go with his tomato based sauce. He said he was impressed by how simple and quick it was to use and will definitely use it again.
Session 1 A Success!
by 0303mel69Combined rating
Well, after the excitement of unpacking the box, reading the instructions and washing all the washable parts, I was ready to begin. I must admit, while taking the machine apart to wash, I took photos along the way to make sure that I could put all the parts together in the right places. It was easier than I thought. My first meal was a Springtime pasta with lots of fresh flavors- fresh basil, cherry tomatoes, Kalamata olives and artichokes. I have included the recipe in the dinner section of the website. I prepared the sauce first and then made the pasta. The pasta only took about 9 minutes from start to finish, much quicker than I first anticipated. When the first pasta extruded, it seemed a little dry and oddly shaped. I cut it off and put it back into the machine. However, after about the first 5cms, the rest came out perfectly. I used the Fettuccini disc but found when the pasta cooked, it was a little thick. Next time, I will try the spaghetti disc to compare. I don’t think that the flavor of the dish was compromised however. The machine and parts were all easy to clean and the whole process was very simple. I love the storage compartment within the machine, so that you can’t loses any of the parts and that is an added bonus. I can’t wait to try another recipe real soon, my boys loved their pasta! Xx H
Amazing product; fresh pasta in 15 minutes!
by mom88918Combined rating
When I received the delivery for the Philips Pasta and Noodle maker I was more excited than somebody should rightfully be regarding a cooking appliance. The reason being that I love making food from scratch and avoiding preservatives and other nasties. Also, a few weeks ago I had the impulsive and foolish idea to try cooking some spinach and ricotta tortellini from scratch again, using my manual pasta make (you know... turn the handle and pasta sheets come out.) Just enough time had passed since my last attempt to create a slightly nostalgic and hazy memory of the whole procedure. I regretted this decision about five minutes in when I remembered just how fiddly it would be and how long it would take, particularly with a grumpy toddler hanging off my legs. Not very easy to do one handed. Ahhh! That's why I don't do this every week! Anyway after opening everything up, reading the directions and cleaning everything I was ready to go. First I admired the look of it sitting on my bench for a while; it looks well designed and actually doesn't take up too much room. It also has a small drawer for storing the shaping discs which is handy. It was very simple to use. I measured my flour and water using electronic scales, but it comes with a jug that is marked with the required measurements. Basically you insert the disc required for the pasta shape that you want, measure your flour of choice and throw it in. You then turn on the machine and slowly pour your water mixture in and the pasta magically appears within a few minutes. All this without a sore arm from turning the handle of a pasta machine! I was making penne so I then needed to cut the pieces to size with the supplied tool. The time setting displayed 15 minutes when the program started so I was taken by surprise when the pasta started coming out within a few minutes and I didn't have a bowl underneath yet, or the tool for cutting the penne to size. I'll be more prepared next time. Within 15 minutes I had 500g of lovely fresh pasta ready for the pot of boiling water. It really was as simple as that. The pasta was a nice texture and tasted delicious. I made a quick tomato, veg and ricotta sauce in my thermal cooker to go with it. I was really impressed by the speed and the ease of use and I doubt that I will buy dry pasta again while I have this. Definitely a winner for a busy family. The only thing that I will need to research a bit more is how to make spinach pasta as the directions state you need to use spinach 'juice' rather than just chucking chopped up spinach in, which is how I've made it previously. I assume the bits would get stuck in the holes of the shaping discs, so seems to be a fair enough request. The cleaning up was pretty simple. You take all the bits apart and give them a wash. I got a bit confused about how to clean the penne shaping disc as that one doesn't come with it's own cleaning tool, but after fluffing around for a while I remembered that the disc comes apart into two pieces and then I could use the long tool with the spiky ends to clean in the holes, so disaster was avoided!

When the Phillips Pasta and Noodle machine arrived everyone was excited. We had got home late and already having some Bolagnaise sauce in the fridge I tried the spaghetti disc. I thought that it would take the full 10min to extrude but no it started after only a few minutes. I was busy rushing around trying to get the water to boil on my old stove top. First lesson learned start boiling the water before you start making your pasta it is that quick! The kids love the pasta but what I thought has been great is that the kids are engaged. They come into the kitchen and want to watch the pasta being made. We all know when your kids are the assistant chefs they are more likely to eat what is being cooked. As promised the unit is easy to use. So easy this school holidays we are making a you tube video of Miss 5yo making pasta on her own. Yes it is that easy I am confident even a 5yo can do it. That night we cooked the adults penne using the penne disc. The thing I really like about this is the texture you get from the fresh pasta. I usually over cook dried pasta to get it the way I like it. The fresh pasta you make was perfect 'el dente' or to the tooth or whatever the fancy name is for it. No over cooking required. Also as promised with only a few components it was super easy to clean so won't get put stuffed in a cupboard. I have covered taste, speed, easy of use, ease to clean but now my favourite part cost!. Fresh pasta in the fridge aisle the most comparable product is between $5-$8. You can make this pasta from $0.30-$0.80 plus filing. Yes well under a $1 and the results are far superior. So even looking at the cost of the machine if you are a fresh pasta lover this machine will be saving you money fast. I am excited to see what else we can do with the great machine.

I've had the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker a while now thanks to Mouths of Mums. What do I like about it: 1. Quick fresh pasta. In fact only 15 minutes to make 4 generous entree six serves. 2. Fresh pasta means it's quick to cook. 3. There are options for all shapes of pastas. 4. I can use whatever ingredients I want, so gluten free is a cheap and easy option. What don't I like: 1. I don't get the silky sheen I get with hand rolled pasta. Overall, for my family it is the perfect appliance. For a posh dinner party I'll still make by hand. Perhaps the unit could have an option for longer kneading as that would assist with the sheen.

we made pasta and meatballs in a tomato based sauce. The leftover pasta was added to bacon and made in a garlic sauce. By the time the water in the saucepan has boiled the pasta is made and takes minutes to cook. It has become a Sunday ritual with the family all around helping to cook. It's great to spend that time together.
A versatile well designed machine
by miss emmajaneCombined rating
I have really enjoyed being part of the review team for the Philips Pasta and Noodle maker. Having had it for a good month now I can really give you a good overview of the machine, however in many ways I have only scratched the surface of experimentation. Hopefully I have managed to answer a good deal of questions over the last few weeks. I just wanted to start by saying I believe this machine is more versatile than Philips gives it credit for. Primarily it can make Noodles and Pasta however when you step back it is a machine that mixes dough and then extrudes it. We have made corn chips and can make wheat crackers. I also have a feeling that you could extrude Churros through the penne disk without the center part of the disk – giving you attractive logs to cook (this is just me thinking aloud). You also have a massive amount of options when it comes to the contents of the dough – who said pasta had to be plain wheat flour? I feel that more gluten free, alternative recipes would be a great inclusion to the recipe book. I have posted both a corn chip recipe and gluten free pasta recipe which took a bit of work to get right – this can be time consuming and frustrating. However, once the recipe exists the long term benefits of those recipes are well worth it – they are quick, simple and rewarding to make. I was thankful to stumble across the pubmed article ‘Functional Properties of gluten-free pasta produced from amaranth, quinoa and buckwheat’. Feel the gluten intolerant love? There needed to be a simple egg-free gluten-free recipe out there. Using a base recipe or idea and modifying it from there is a good start. As a general rule of thumb the machine is rewarding and a positive experience especially if you are following a recipe. I would have liked to see the inclusion of a simple pasta drying stand – ideally that stores in the draw, however we cannot be too picky and a chopping board upright works just fine! The pieces are not dish washable which is sad (though I have not tried) but I can say that my machine could be mistaken for a machine used once as it has remained very clean. It also continues to be easy to clean –there are very few places where the dough can get stuck. The cleaning tool is handy and I love that it also doubles as the cutter when the dough is extruding. I feel that the design team should get a pat on the back! Being hand washable makes a world of difference and air drying remains the easiest way to dry it. I covered how we store the machine in the last two posts (with photos), and talked about keeping the measuring cups in the barrel with the lid ajar for travel – although you can do this at home too. I would like to say we have ventured into dumpling making and noodles – but we did not get a chance. Dumplings are in our near future but I don’t like to make them for large dinner parties as they are fiddly to fold. We don’t cook a lot of noodle recipes but now it is getting cooler we will probably do a few more. I love the fettuccini disk, but find we use all but the penne regularly as the others are probably simpler – let’s talk about being super lazy here and cutting every 30 seconds instead of every 5 – its more preference really. In my mind making noodles or pasta from scratch using this machine does not add any real time to dinner prep. The time it takes to open a packet after you find the scissors and then put the pasta in the water doesn’t really change much to making the pasta from scratch – plus then everyone feels you love them because you put all that effort in making pasta from scratch (and you don’t even have to tell them it took you all of 10 minutes if you don’t want too). All the people we have fed the pasta too notice the difference, and we have not had packet pasta since because it really does not compare to additive free, fresh pasta. My biggest question was – is it worth the cost price? It is a pricier machine, however I feel it is of a reasonable price point when you look at the other pasta makers on the market from well-known brands (often automated hand cranks). Philips is a known and trusted brand – other pasta maker machines that work like this one are often by brands that are not well known. You won’t be buying pasta again, because you can easily make whatever is on the market shelves (except dinosaur shapes, this makes me slightly sad). I don’t give financial advice, so I am just going to remind you it is almost tax back time. Moving on, this is a great machine and worth having. We have used it a lot and it is not going to retire to the back of the cupboard now I don’t ‘have’ to write review. We will continue to use it a lot, we will continue to experiment. Thank you Mouths of Mums and Philips for this opportunity!
Magic Pasta
by BernieCombined rating
Every time I switch this machine on I feel like saying ‘abracadabra’. It makes cooking freshly made pasta seem like magic. It takes less time to make the pasta than it does to boil the water for cooking it and each time it has been the perfect result. This machine is compact and incredibly sturdy and everything I need to use with it packs neatly into the machine so the bits and pieces don’t get lost in my already overloaded kitchen drawers. Everything is all there when I am ready to make fresh pasta. Cleaning up was also easy. I followed the advice in the booklet and placed the discs in the freezer for a few hours and they were very easy to clean after that. The rest of the machine was also a breeze to clean and wipe down. It’s lovely to no longer need to buy pre made pasta. It’s so easy to cook from scratch and it really has increased the flavours of our meals. I would highly recommend this machine, it’s a great addition to my kitchen and it’s so easy that even the kids can use it.

As the weeks go by this little machine has become a favourite. It lives on my bench top, although it's light enough to be placed in the cupboard. My son wanted pasta tonight and asked for spaghetti. I kid you not that I made 500g, cooked it, made a simple sauce and dinner was served in 30 minutes.

This evening I thought I would try making some Spelt lasagna sheets with the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker. Our family really enjoys the texture and flavour of spelt flour so I was keen to see how it would go with the machine. It was great to see that a spelt pasta recipe had been included in the Philips recipe book. I followed the recipe and used the lasagna sheet extractor to create the delicious spelt lasagna sheets. The pasta came through quite nicely and in 15 minutes I had enough sheets to make a medium tray of lasagna for 2 adults and 2 kids. This was a quick meal to prepare as I already had some frozen Bolognaise sauce in the freezer. All I had to make was the Bechamel sauce. This meal was ready in a jiffy! My 3 year old and 16 month old gobbled it up with no complaints! I'm glad that I can prepare nutritional and tasty meals for them with the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker.
So easy to clean
by sarahsampsoniteCombined rating
I love how easy the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker is to clean. Everything comes apart so that you can get in all the crevices and make sure it's all spick and span before using it again. I have to say though, it would have been nice if it was included in the manual that the sheet and penne discs come apart into pieces. I figured this out with the sheet disc pretty quickly but I didn't realize the penne disc came apart until I was trying out the little trick of putting the disc in the freezer to make the pasta come out easier, which it does, but it also popped out the other part of the penne disc which did make it a lot easier to clean but it would have been nice to know it did that before I tried to clean it by tirelessly poking holes with the little cleaning tool. Also, now that I've popped the penne disc out it has a hard time staying together. It got pretty frustrating the other day when I was trying to put it back on the machine and every time I'd press the disc on to the machine to put it in the place the inside part of the disc would pop off and I'd have to pull it all apart again. And, it appears that only way to get a good clean of the penne disc is to freeze it after use, otherwise the dough can get caught in the little curves of circles making it difficult to get out. I still love it, it's still easy to clean it's just good to keep in mind that those two discs separate out and that you may need to freeze the discs after use to get them the cleanest.
Road testing different flours
by MotherKnowsBestCombined rating
I decided to put this machine through its paces and test the difference between the 00 Italian pasta flour ($3kg) and the stock standard home brand flour ($0.75kg). The price difference is substantial however the difference is minimal. The pasta was a little more tender using the 00 flour however standard flour does an excellent job. I think the magic is in the machine. It is very impressive the quality of the pasta using the most inexpensive flour on the market. In my previous review I did mention not to have a fan/air con directed at your cooking area. I would also add that I think the weather can play a part. On a hot Queensland day the pasta failed on the lasagna setting. I also think the addition of 1/2 teaspoon of oil per cup is essential however that could be climate related.

Tonight I thought I would film my review so that you could see how easy it is to use whilst making a dinner. Thanks to my wonderful camera man who stepped in to assist with the making of this short review. The more we use this machine, the different things we are noticing. Tonight I really noticed the texture of using fresh pasta. It is very light & stretchy. The taste is quite different - very light in your mouth. It would be hard to go back to packet pasta after using this machine. Tonight I made spaghetti & meatballs - check out the video review. I will post the recipe as well!

My kids helped unpack the pasta and noodle maker and we read the instructions together. I had already bought some '00' flour in anticipation of making pasta. We decided to try to make the penne and couldn't believe that in minutes of setting the machine to go that we had the most amazing pasta tubes being extruded. The kids loved cutting up the tubes into penne sized pieces. They were very keen to try the pasta straight away so I boiled up a pot of water and gathered a few ingredients together for a sauce. Within 25 minutes we had made pasta, cooked it and made a fresh tomato, chorizo and pea sauce. I have made pasta before using a traditional machine but the Phillips Pasta and Noodle Maker was so quick and easy to use and clean. We are all look forward to making some noodles next.
Fresh pasta in minutes!

I had been eagerly anticipating the arrival of my Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker, and we finally received it late yesterday afternoon! My almost 4 year old was very excited, that she even helped me wash and dry everything ready to make our first batch! Tuesday nights are usually a super simple, 're-heat' something night as my hubby is at uni, so I was a bit apprehensive at trying something new while getting two little ones organised on my own at 'that' time of the day. But, it promised to be quick and easy, so we gave it a go - plus Miss 4 kept begging me to help! I must say, one of the first things I noticed when the machine started, was how quiet it actually is. We have our fair share of kitchen appliances, and this would have to win points for being on the quieter end of the noise-producing scale. Miss 4 poured the flour in along with the egg, and that was it! So far, so good. We stood and waited for no more than 3 minutes as it did its thing, and next thing I hear are delighted squeals as Miss 4 notices the first 'worms' of pasta coming out! She even cut them off with the special tool provided so it really IS that easy. Once it finished extruding all the pasta, we popped it into our pot of boiling water, and 4 minutes later we had perfect fresh pasta ready to eat! Wow, it really couldn't be quicker and easier. I think it would actually take longer to cook packet pasta. The flavour was delicious and so fresh! My two devoured their dinner and asked for seconds (a rarity here!). I love to cook from scratch so I know exactly what I'm feeding our family, so the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker really appeals to me. I can't wait to try out some different pasta variations. I was a little disappointed that the recipe book doesn't include gluten free pasta recipes as I would have thought those following a GF diet would benefit significantly from this machine. So I'll have to have a play around with some different GF flours and see what I can come up with. But so far, so good!
Quick and easy to use and clean

I just got my Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker two nights ago and since I couldn't wait to try it out I tried it last night for dinner. Normally I wouldn't try to do anything to complicated on a weeknight since we all have to get home from work and daycare and rush to get dinner together before a bath and bed but I'm so glad I tried this last night. While the machine looks a bit space-aged it was so easy to use, so so easy. Since the grocery stores were packed with people pick-up last minute items for Easter long weekend I decided to make a sauce out of what I had at home and just test out the machine. You pour your flour in, turn the machine on and start it based on the amount of pasta you're making, pour your liquid in and wait. I didn't think it would be that simple but it really was. I was a little unsure if I had added the right amount of liquid because the dough looked a bit broken up as you can see in the photo, but before long the pasta began coming out looking perfect. A quick tip that I learned the hard way, let the machine completely run through the timer to push all the pasta out, it will slow down but it's still getting everything. I thought it was done so tried to move on the next step and ended up missing out on some pasta because of it, trust the machine. Once the pasta was done being made the whole machine came completely apart in a matter of seconds to be easily cleaned. It also doesn't have any sharp edges which means when Little E starts to help me a bit more in the kitchen I won't need to worry that she'll hurt herself. All-in-all it was a great first experience with this machine and I can't wait to get more creative with what I do next. PS - I posted the delicious pumpkin sauce I made over in the recipe section if you're interested.
So Easy!

I was stunned at how easy and fool-proof this machine really was. I was able to take it straight from the box and after a quick look through the instructions, I was able to put it together and within 15 - 20 minutes I was making fresh pasta. It's such an easy way to have fresh pasta dish at any time. I've made sauces to freeze and on a busy day when we have arrived home late we can still have a freshly made meal instead of packet made food. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone who enjoys fresh pasta. It takes the guess work out of getting it right and it's an all in one process. The machine is also so easy to clean. A great investment to make for any kitchen.
Storage of the Pasta Maker - part 2
by miss emmajaneCombined rating
I just posted a view of where we keep the Pasta maker when not in use - so I wanted to follow that up with a photo of it about to be used on the bench - as you can see we don't have a lot of space for things to live out (The Kitchenaid was a 21st birthday present so it gets special treatment). It works quite well in a small kitchen and keeps a low profile which is appreciated. It looks super new and modern against that 'vintage/retro' red bench top (at least that is what I am telling myself - I personally am not fond of the colour). I will get on and post a final wrap up review either tonight or tomorrow and cover anything I feel I have missed. Hopefully you will have a good idea of what this machine can do and how it works - I have also posted a simple egg free gluten free pasta recipe in the dinner section and my corn chip recipe can be found at https://mouthsofmums.com.au/recipe/homemade-corn-chips-with-the-philips-pasta-and-noodle-maker/
Storage of the Pasta Maker
by miss emmajaneCombined rating
I just wanted to quickly show you where we store out machine - we don't have a lot of space on the bench so it lives just under the bench and comes out as needed. We have found that it is not too heavy to lift and lives quite compactly without taking up a lot of room (considering we only keep what we use, and have often used things at the front you can get an idea of how often the machine is used!)
The perfect invention for a hungry family
by mummydivaCombined rating
I have been using the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker regularly and the only disc that comes with the machine that I haven't tried is the lasagna disc. My mother in law always uses egg in her homemade lasagna and says that using just flour and water won't keep the pasta sheet together when cooked in boiling water. I tend to prove her wrong. This maker is amazing.
Ravioli-making made easy with the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker
by Sonya LCombined rating
Tonight I decided to prepare a much-loved dish that my family has been eating for generations and that is Ravioli Maltese Style. These ravioli are very simple - egg pasta parcels filled with ricotta and served with a tomato sauce. I used the egg pasta recipe to produce my dough. I used '00' flour as I prefer the finer texture and I think it is more suited to pasta than All-Purpose flour. To produce the necessary shap I used the lasagna sheet extruder. I had read in previous reviews that when making sheets the pasta tends to dry out quickly. In order to avoid this happening I dampened two tea towels and laid one on a tray. As the machine extruded a sheet, I laid it on the damp tea towel and immediately covered it with another tea towel. This kept the pasta nice and moist so that when it was time to make the ravioli, the pasta could be folded without cracking. To form the ravioli shapes I dotted mixture along the bottom edge of the pasta sheet horizontally. I left enough of a border so that when I folded down the other side of the pasta the edge would seal. The pasta dough was ready in 15 minutes and assembly of the ravioli took 15 minutes. I served this dish up with a basic tomato sauce of onion, garlic, pureed tomatoes and salt and pepper. I garnished with chopped fresh parsley or you could try grating some lovely Grana Padano cheese or Parmesan. Washing up of the machine takes very little time and is a lovely addition to any home cook's kitchen.

As the Philips Noodle and Pasta Maker arrived the day before we went on a holiday to the beach we took it with us. Which might sounds crazy - but we are the type of crazy that also packed our Ausfonte cast iron pan because everyone needs decent cookware while on holidays! The Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker actually travels really well due to the design of having a draw for the different disks. The two measuring cups can be placed in the barrel of the machine if you leave the lid ajar. We took it in the box but a simple blanket would have done just as well. It very happily sat on the bench and fed everyone then came back home with us without complaint. I have also cooked a meal for friends and brought our own homemade pasta hung over the side of a pan which traveled well and cooked just as easily despite the car trip. I found separating it out like that meant it was less likely to stick as the batch was slightly wetter than it should have been. There is a decent margin for error between too wet and too dry. I made a batch of cinnamon pasta which sounded good but ended up too dry as the cinnamon took in too much water – the taste was not strong either so that is back on the drawing board for now. I then ended up adding too much water to the next batch of pasta because I was less convinced to trust the machines measurements – a mistake that meant I needed to feed the dough into the machine because it clumped. However if you follow the instructions and trust the machine you will see the reasonably dry crumbly mix in the bowl does come together and come out as pasta. I tried to make egg-free non-wheat pasta with quinoa flour and chia seed egg replacer- it looked great coming out of the machine and held together until it went into the hot water at which point it all broke into lots of tiny worms. It was a good thing it was only the kids and I eating that night as it was edible but not in the typical pasta way! I was going to share that recipe this week but I feel you too may not want tiny gooey worms - so I am working on something much better which I will post in the coming days. For now you may have my Green Egg Pasta and Ham (Bolognese) recipe https://mouthsofmums.com.au/recipe/green-egg-pasta-and-ham-bolognese/ In hindsight I feel amaranth flour may be the way to bind the flour together. We are getting good feedback from the friends and family we have fed, they say the pasta tastes cleaner, nicer and fresher. Almost all of them would agree you cannot go past fresh pasta. I ate dry packet pasta the other day and it is just not the same! The outlay of the machine cost is debatable, but that comes in part down to income and the frequency your family eats pasta. My personal view would be that if you have the money and small children buy one. There are many benefits to the machine and for us the best is catering. If we are unsure of numbers we can do a single batch of pasta and easily make another batch if more people arrive without hassle (or running to the store for more pasta). Surprisingly after making around 4-5kg of pasta the machine is still as clean as ever, and the only part I have noticed is that the inside of the front silver plate can slightly discolour where water pooled during air drying. Not noticeable and it does not affect the machines use. I would also like to point out that it is so much fun I am often not the one that gets to make the pasta – my partner has a lot of fun and my almost 3 year old is very keen to ensure there is a plate to catch the pasta and everything is working correctly (see photo, dress by My DD Hearts Dinos)! If you want more nights off in the kitchen this is the machine to buy! It is fun and the experiments don’t take up a lot of time even if they fail. It is a really well designed machine and light enough that you can keep it in a cupboard if you don’t have room on the bench.

So my third attempt using the Phillips pasta and noodle maker I decided to make lasagna sheets for a pasta bake. I was a bit sceptical about the cutting attachment being able to produce good sized lasagna sheets but I was totally blown away with this machine again. After the first go at using the Pasta and Noodle maker with the kids they were keen to give it another go. My daughter (11) remembered how to assemble the machine and how to measure our the ingredients so I left her to it and she made a double batch of spaghetti on her own. We enjoyed the soft pasta with a bolognese sauce. The double quantity was enough for a family of five. As the maker has been the talk of the house hold we thought the next evening we would try to make the dumplings. It took a few minutes to get the hang of cutting the mix to size but once again I left my daughter to it. She has enjoyed the using the machine and how much fun the whole process is. That evening we had a feast of pork and prawn dumplings and chicken and corn dumplings. We adapted the recipes in the booklet. We are all looking forward to trying the coloured pasta next!

Even the greenest chef will be itching to experiment with the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker because it's just too easy to try. The cookbook even gives you suggestions to flavor your pasta with beets and herbs, how could you not starting thinking of your own additions. What you try doesn't always work, like my failed attempt at a cross between sopapillas and Sicilian Pasta Crisps seen in the picture, but since the machine is so quick to use and clean you don't feel like you've wasted a whole day on a failed experiment and you're more willing to try again. This will be sure to create fun innovation in your home cooking.

I had the pleasure of using my pasta maker for the 2nd time to make fettucine and I was more than please with how it turned out. I made my favourite bolognaise recipe which simmered for 2.5 hours giving me a chance to kick back and read whilst my house filled with the delicious hearty aromas. I did not have to move until 30 minutes before serving where I stood to make the pasta in my machine it took a total of 13 minutes to complete the entire process and it came out perfectly. Using the tool provided by Philips I could cut the Fettucine to my desired length and just like that it was ready to cook and eat. I will post this recipe to the dinners section of the site as it is my absolute favourite bolognaise recipe and making my own fettucine for it just made it so much more enjoyable. So far I am over the moon about this machine and I really see it saving my family a lot of money in the long run saving on store bought pasta and making it fresh. I will never buy pasta again.
A play with variations
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
So over the weekend I have had a chance to play with my new Phillips Pasta and Noodle Maker a little more. I really wanted to attempt some spinach pasta, as well as a wholemeal variety. Firstly the spinach. I decided on penne to use in a Chicken & Pumpkin Pasta Bake (I'll post the recipe soon). Firstly, I made the spinach juice using my blender. I've got a high powered blender that has a green smoothie function - it basically liquidizes greens so there's no pulp. I packed the blender with baby spinach and added about a half cup of water. Blended for 1 minute and I had spinach juice! If you don't have a high powered blender, then you could do the same in an ordinary blender or food processor, and then strain your mix - either through cheese cloth, a nut milk bag, or even a piece of clean paper towel. I then used the juice to make some penne. The first batch I made with egg, the second I made with just the spinach juice (no egg) and both turned out really well and you wouldn't know the difference. It cooked up really well and tasted great in the pasta bake. Miss Almost 4 really like the green pasta so that was a bonus! Tonight I decided to try using wholemeal flour to up the fiber content of all this pasta we've been eating! From previous experience making things with wholemeal flour, I know that 100% wholemeal tends to be quite dense and heavy, so I used a ratio of 170g wholemeal to 80g plain flour. This was for a '1 cup' batch. For the liquid I used 1 egg and made it up to 95g with water. It probably could have done with another 5g water as I thought it was a touch dry when it came out, but once cooked you couldn't tell. It was tasty and went well with the Beef Stroganoff I made. I'm keen to try this again but with a mix of oat flour instead of wholemeal. I still can't believe how quickly this machine produces pasta! Even though it's a 10 minute cycle (for 300g), most of the pasta is out within 5 minutes. The machine then spends the last 5 minutes or so making sure it's got all the dough so the extrusion starts to slow down. I LOVE that I can control exactly what is in the pasta. Being able to add a dose of iron, folate and a whole bunch of vitamins to the pasta in the form of spinach really gets me excited! The fact that the kids love it - even better! Next on the experiment list - gluten free!
I love making pasta again.

I was so excited when I received my Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker. It was even better and easier to use than I expected. I pulled all the pieces out of the box and it was so easy to put together, I was ready to go in 5mins. I decided to make some "pink" pasta to see if my little 3 year old would like it. It was so easy, just add the flour in the mixer, mix and egg and some beetroot juice together and pour it in once I turned on the machine.. and Whallaaah!!! in about 3 minutes the pasta was mixed and it was coming out the cutter. Sooo EASY!! I couldn't believe it. To be honest I probably needed a little more liquid and I think it would take a couple of tries to get the exact amount just right each time but how easy is that. I cooked the pasta and just added some ricotta and basil and it was all gone in about the same time it took to cook. I'm definitely impressed with this machine and can't wait to try some more recipes out.
Gourmet parsley pasta
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
Tonight I made parsley thick flat pasta. I was lucky enough to get some additional fittings for the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker, and gave the thick flat noddle attachment a go. I recently saw some gourmet pasta being sold at a local farmers market, and one of the flavors was parsley. I thought "I could make that"! I simply added 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh parsley to the usual recipe, and it turned out brilliantly! It had a distinct parsley flavour and added a great freshness to the pasta. I just love that this machine allows you to be so creative!
Simple and the little ones love to get involved

The pasta maker is one of the most simplest machines on the market to use. It does everything for you. Adding the ingredients was fun for my 4yr old to do and she loved watching it work and kneed the dough. Then when it started coming out she got so excited and she found it so easy to cut off into smaller pieces. Of course with my careful watch. The pasta tasted great and she loved the fact that she made it all by herself. One happy mummy and daughter here.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Philips and the MoM team for sending me some additional discs for my Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker! I was very excited to receive these today and can't wait to put them to use and come up with some delicious recipes! The new discs will make angel hair, flat wide noodles, udon and ramen noodles. I've had a lot of fun being part of this review, thanks again!
Veal Scallopini
by AntjeCombined rating
Well this is the 3rd time using this machine - I now consider myself and expert :) I am a bit sad to report that I had my brother and sister in law around and we made a SCRUMPTIOUS Chicken and Spinach Ravioli using the Lasagna attachment - which was super easy and super FUN - BUT I DIDN"T TAKE A PHOTO!! SORRY! So I can't add that as a separate review, but let me tell you it was so much fun and it worked first time! Now to my review Tonight my hubby and kids and I made Veal Scallopini Pasta We used the fettuccine attachment and again - it was super easy to just pop the ingredients in using the marked measuring containers provided with the machine. We pressed go and it started mixing it all up. About 2.5 minutes later pasta stated popping out of the machine, not a surprise - this time I was ready! My 2.5yr old even helped to cut off the lengths of the fettuccine with not too much help from me! He was so excited to be able to help! We then cooked up the sauce and the pasta and again VOILA dinner was done! It is just so quick and easy to use! I would have NO HESITATION recommending it to anyone who was thinking about buying it! I can't wait to make our Singapore Noodles in it tomorrow night for dinner :) This thing is just so versatile! Thanks again MOM and Philips for giving my family this opportunity! *LOVE* My hubby is even already talking about buying the extra attachments!
Tuna Casserole

(5th April) Well! I must say! I was super excited to try out this Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker! The recipe book that comes with it has heaps of recipes, but because I was so eager to try I had to go with a family staple (because I had all the ingredients in the cupboard) No Time for shopping! Must try pasta maker NOW! the instructions in the recipe book are super easy to follow AND it comes with 2 measuring cups/jugs with little lines and pictures on the side so you know exactly how much flour and liquid you need. No stuffing around with scales or trying to find the correct measuring cup in the draw. So we put the flour in and pressed go. It said 15 minutes (I did a double batch first up) so I started fluffing about getting things ready for the sauce. All of a sudden there was pasta coming out!! WOW! It was super quick. I dived for a bowl and began cutting with the cutter. It took a few goes, but as easy as pie I was an expert Penne Pasta Cutter! YAY! I couldn't believe it was that quick. The pasta was all out before the 15 minutes was up and I had a lovely bowl of fresh pasta ready to go! I quickly cooked up my sauce hoping that it wouldn't all stick together - IT DIDN'T then cooked up the pasta and VOILA dinner was done! Just like that! It was super yummy and super easy to clean all the parts of the machine as they come apart so nothing gets left behind to go manky. OVERALL - I am SUPER impressed with this and I can't wait to do it again! PS - the actual pasta tasted amazing! so fresh!
Excellent for Asian-inspired dishes.
by Sonya LCombined rating
Tonight our family felt like having something Asian-inspired so I thought I would make some Udon noodles using the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker. This was a very quick meal to make as I already had some snapper broth in the freezer, ready to be transformed into an amazing asian-style noodle dish. In 12 minutes I was able to create 250 g of Udon noodles. All I needed was 250g of plain flour and 90g of water. I simply used the smallest extruder attachment to produce the shape I required. I then lay the noodles flat on a tea towel ready to be used for the soup. I simply defrosted my stock and thinly sliced some vegetables. Once the broth was boiling I added the noodles, let them cook for a minute and then I threw in the veg and cooked for another minute. Meal done! I garnished with some freshly sliced spring onions and it was quickly consumed by my family! Even though my family has a Mediterranean background and we love our pasta, it is so great that we can use this great appliance to make noodles for our favourite Asian dishes!
Homemade Lasagne after 13 years
by kahlCombined rating
When the kids were little - Homemade Lasagne was a family favourite. School, homework, extracurricular activities, work, tiredness - you name it - made me suddenly time poor & I resorted to buying Lasagne from the shops. I did choose the "fresh one". Over time my boys started to dislike lasagne - probably as the bought lasagne didn't have much meat sauce & lots of cheese sauce. So after 13 years -FINALLY- I have enjoyed making a Lasagne from scratch. The Philips Pasta Maker has been a fascinating product in our house. The teenagers have been intrigued by it so are coming out of the dungeon bedrooms to see what Im making. I have been lucky as they have offered to help! Wow! Tonight I made the lasagne using a different flour. It was an Italian flour - so I thought it must be better as they know how to make pasta. The pasta came out very smooth & soft. can't wait to eat this lasagne! I constructed the lasagne at the same time utilising the pause button on the machine. This help as I found the pasta sheets drying out when I had previously made them. It was the perfect size for the dish I used. The only problem was I had pasta sheets left over. Next time I will make more sauces & make 2 lasagnes. The one negative I have noticed with the Pasta Maker is that the edges of the first pieces of pasta come out a bit dry. So once the pasta starts coming out - I have cut off the first 1cm & discarded this. So I'm looking forward to my hungry teenagers coming home from work & eating homemade Lasagne!

So watch this space as this weekend I hope to put the machine to great use! Note to self- YOU MUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST! I have a bad habit of just diving in and not really consulting the instruction booklet. This time I am going to make sure I read all that I need to first and then start creating. I've used the Philips Pasta and Noddle Maker a few times this week. It is just so easy to use and takes no time at all, even more so once you're familiar with it. Today I thought I'd do something a bit different and made a delicious coconut curry soup in my slow cooker earlier in the day (will post the recipe so go have a look!) Before serving it up this evening I noticed my glorious machine sitting on the bench and thought maybe some lovely fresh noodles would make this dish even tastier. I know noodles don't traditionally go in this meal, but why not give it a go seeing as I seem to want to put pasta and noodles in everything now? 15 minutes later (10 minute program for 300g noodles and less than 5 mins cooking time) and they were done! How lovely to be able to make fresh noodles at such short notice. I used the thin pasta/ noodle disc for this so got to use the specially designed cleaning tool which worked really well. It just poked the dough out of all the little holes nice and quickly. Previously I have made penne and cleaning this disc was a bit more fiddly as it doesn't have a cleaning tool. The noodles were delicious- a lovely texture and a nice fresh taste.

It has arrived! Pasta machine unpacked, components cleaned & instructions read. I was keen to test this machine out & see it in action! It was simple! Add the flour, close the lid, turn it on & add the liquid! After a few minutes of kneading the pasta starts coming out! It was very easy! Lovely fresh spaghetti for our Good Friday dinner! Easily cut to desired length. HOWEVER it appears there is no dough left in machine& timer has 5mins left. So I turned it off. Mistake! There was still pasta dough inside to be pushed out! The first batch of pasta I made double but WOW it turned out to be more than we needed. Plan is to cook then toss pasta in olive oil, smoked trout & basil leaves & serve good dose of white wine! Pulling apart the appliance for cleaning is simple enough. A special tool for cleaning the discs makes cleaning the dough out of the holes simple! Then remove the 2 knobs & it is quickly dissembled. Drying wasn't as simple though. Lots of grooves where it was difficult to dry. I just left it to air dry - which never takes that long in Qld. Pasta discs are easily stored together! No more searching through the kitchen draws looking for parts!

Angel hair pasta
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
I was lucky enough to receive additional attachments for the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker. One of these attachments makes Angel Hair pasta/noodles. I decided to give it a go to serve with bolognaise instead of the usual spaghetti. It turned out really well and I actually enjoyed it as a change from spaghetti as it was a bit lighter. It seems to go a bit further too as it's much thinner than the other varieties. It only takes about 4 minutes to cook too, so it's a bit of a winner all round! A friend makes egg noodles - angel hair noodles cut in about 2cm lengths. She says they go really nicely in a chicken broth, so I'm going to try this next. I think you use egg only and no water. I'll post the results.

I still love my Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker and use it several times each week. I haven't bought pasta since I received the machine and I just can't see a reason to in the future (unless of course I was away and didn't have the machine). I'm still experimenting with different flavors and will post a few recipes soon. My 14 month old daughter loves sitting on the bench watching the machine. She tries to 'catch' the pasta as it comes out! She always runs into the kitchen as soon as she hears it going. Meanwhile my 4 year old always wants to help so I never actually get to use it!
Penne Magic
by mom130675Combined rating
My kids (11,13,15) and I have had a lot of fun with the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker. It's been so easy for them to make pasta and noodles from start to finish without much help from mum. They have taken a real interest in cooking dinner and making dishes that use this fabulous machine. They have experimented with different shapes and flavours. We tried making long penne with great results. My son (15) made tomato flavoured tagliatelle using tomato paste. The pasta had a lovely hint of tomato and added that bit of interest to the carbonara sauce he also made. Making the double quantity has been a good serving size for a family of five. Even the clean up has been getting easier each time we have used the machine. It has been a real winner and in our household. The pasta and noodles have a soft texture and we have been cooking them as soon as they are made. They cook so quickly ( about 3 minutes).
Spelt Flour Spaghetti
by kahlCombined rating
So after an hour & half with the coconut flour attempt - it was decided ditch the batch & start again! My belly was started to rumble. Teenager 1 migrated to the kitchen wondering if he had missed dinner!!!! He thought it was unusual to be eating SO late- it was 715pm. It was a LOL moment! Showed him the picture of the coconut flour & egg soup & he chuckled! So after quickly cleaning & a quick check of the recipe book we moved on with the spelt flour. We were very excited to have the spaghetti success!!!! It is such a different taste to ordinary flour! Very light. We tossed through capsicum, snow peas & steamed chicken & stir through a little cream & pesto! Cracked some pepper & grated some parmasen cheese! Delicious!!!! So it was a bit slow tonight having to dissemble the pasta maker to clean & then reassemble to make the new pasta. But once we started afresh it was so quick. Everything was chopped before, pasta only took approx 4mins & then 2-3mins with all over ingredients. Only takes about 10-15mins from start to finish to make a simple pasta dish. Cleaning takes about 5mins. The cleaning disk makes it so easy to get the pasta out of those tiny little holes.
Double batch of pasta not as good
by kymhhyCombined rating
So I've always just made enough pasta for my little family of three (single batch) but my I laws are currently visiting so I wanted to show them how easy it is to use and decided to make enough for 4-5(double batch). I put in the correct way of flour and wet ingredients and all seemed to be going ok as it started pushing out the fettuccine but then it came to a halt before the first length of pasta had come out. The error light came on. I opened up the lid and gave the ingredients a bit of a stir to move the ingredients around and tried again but the same thing happened. I looked in the troubleshooting section of the manual and found it may have too much ingredients in. I had only put the required amount in but the machine definitely wasn't coping. So I ended up scooping put about half the mixed ingredients and letting it try again. I found the ingredients had bound together so much it was stopping the noodles from pushing out. This time there was no problem and I think I'll be making two batches in future when I want to feed more than 2.
So quick and easy to use! Fresh pasta always tastes better

This week we tried spelt pasta. Just as easy as the normal pasta and it tasted great. The kids picked the spaghetti setting. They didn't even realise the pasta wasn't 'white', they devoured it anyway! Both my 20mth old and 3yr old helped to make the pasta - making the entire dinner process much more fun and I think speaks to why they were so eager to eat their dinner - they made it!!

A glitch in the video submission so here it is again. Miss 5yo making pasta on her own! Yes this machine is so easy even a 5yo can make penne on her own. It is so fantastic when kids get involved in cooking. Even better when they learn about cooking from scratch. It doesnt get much better than this. The machine is so great because it is quick and the rewards of fresh pasta take only a few minutes and the full extrusion complete in well under 15 minutes. Kids can get involved and with a short attention span the speed of this machine is brilliant. I hope you like the video.
Oat pasta
by Schmoofie1983Combined rating
Tonight I experimented making oat pasta. I milled my own fresh oat flour from traditional rolled oats (using my high powered blender, but you can buy oat flour). Using whole oats leaves more nutrients in tact, and oats are higher in fibre, folate and a bunch of other vitamins and minerals, whilst being lower in carbs compared with white flour. It's just more nutritious than white flour alone, so I thought it was worth a try. I went with a 60:40 ratio of oat flour to white flour and went with 100g liquid and it came out perfectly! The colour of the raw pasta was a bit darker than normal, but once cooked, it looked like regular pasta. It also tasted about the same so I figure that's a win all round! The kids ate it without question, so it passed there too. There seems to be quite a fine line between al dente and overcooked when it comes to cooking pasta using the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker. I think 5 mins max for the spaghetti size otherwise it's quite watery and mushy. I think I should start setting a timer as I always seem to get interrupted and lose track of how long the pasta has been cooking for! I tried a batch of gluten free pasta the other day, and whilst the consistency was good, I didn't rate the flavour and it wasn't a pass with the kids so I'll try again and see if I can get some improvement!
Quick and Easy

I had a very busy day playing "catch up" after being away. So just wanted to do something fast, simple & easy! Hmm- the family favourite - Tuna Bake! Its always a big with hungry teenagers! Normally I would use packet macaroni pasta for this but tonight I decided to make fresh penne pasta. As I only needed 300gm my pasta was cut & made within 10 mins. This pasta machine is so quick and easy. Never will I need to go to the cupboard looking for pasta. Just need to ensure I have flour in stock. This am I was chatting with my sister over a cup of tea about fresh pasta. She normally makes her pasta with a manual machine so doesn't do it as much as she would like. I impressed her so much with the simplicity of the machine that she has booked herself in for dinner to watch it in action. The cleaning discs are a blessing for getting the pasta out of the holes but I am finding the front white panel more of a challenge as I found small pieces of dried pasta that I had missed when I previously cleaned it. It was simple enough to wipe. Even though it is not as easy to clean I am loving the fresh pasta!

I also love the draw underneath to store all the parts.

Chcolate pasta Disaster
by kahlCombined rating
Hmmm……I read a few blogs on how yummy chocolate pasta was. The pictures looked so delicious. Lovely chocolate filled ravioli & strawberries with sauce drizzled over it. Now I consider myself a pretty good cook & thought I'd give it a go! Chocolate pasta - how hard could it be. Huh - maybe that was my first mistake. I was keen to experiment & see if I could do the pasta. I was excited as I had just purchased a ravioli tray (thanks to a reviewer for showing this vital piece of equipment to make perfect ravioli). The pasta was a lovely colour but thats all. My recipe for the dough - was too moist. Stretched TOO much & split as it was fragile. Very sticky. It was difficult to extrude from the machine. The taste was not to my liking. Whilst they turned out OK I think in the future I will not attempt to make chocolate pasta again. Instead i am going to look forward to a new day tomorrow and a new attempt @ prawn spinach & ricotta ravioli tomorrow. Whilst our pasta was not a success, it was because of the machines capabilities. The pause function was used which allowed us to do the necessary things to assist us in making something out of our disaster. Im sure it can be done with the right recipe but Ive decided that chocolate should be shared as a little cube piece and not mixed with pasta. will leave my experimenting to more savoury ideas - like adding garlic……so stay tuned for garlic ravioli filled with chilli prawns?????
Still a bit quicker to make ravioli with
by sarahsampsoniteCombined rating
It has ended up being a two day process for me to attempt ravioli with my new pasta maker. The whole experience started off very frustrating because I was so buoyed from how quick and easy the spaghetti came out and I expected the ravioli to be the same. Instead, with my first sheet I quickly realized they would not fit into my ravioli tray which would stop me from having to hand cut each piece. I let the process run it's course before starting to make the ravioli, which was a mistake. By the time the pasta was all out the dough had started to dry which meant that it cracked when I did try to put it together. I only managed 13 ravioli from the first serve of dough with a lot of wasted dough. I decided to change tactics and try again. I made a double batch of dough the second time and started by using the slow process outlined in the cookbook. To counteract how quickly the dough dries, and how slow I knew I'd be putting the ravioli together I decided to try pausing the extraction when I was putting ravioli together. When this started to work well I decided to go one step further, I grabbed my ravioli tray and started using it again pausing between filling the bottom sheet and the top and again when fitting them together. This worked very well and I went further even again and returned the leftover dough back to the machine to be reprocessed into sheets to be used. This meant that when I ran the double batch I was able to get 52 ravioli with very little cracking or wasted dough. Ravioli is always a long process but once I learned a few tricks about the machine it went smoothly and was still quicker than doing it by hand. Another win for the machine, and a reminder to myself why I don't make ravioli very often.

Easy to use machine that produces great tasting pasta

When I received the Philips pasta and noodle maker in the mail, we were so excited to open it up and use it straight away. It was so easy to set up and we had it going in no time. My daughter wanted to help as she wanted to see how her beloved pasta was made, so I got her involved and she added the 2 cups of flour close the lid and added the water and eggs. The look on her face was priceless to see the machine churn the dough and when it stated extruding the pasta she wanted to cut up the penne as it was going so she used the cutting tool it came with. There was so much pasta that actually came out of two cups of flour, it made a decent batch. I decided to make pesto pasta with mushroom, chicken and chorizos sausages. It turned out really well and was a treat for the whole family. The machine is a real big hit with the family and its so easy to use. There are so many different pastas to make as well and cant wait to try them all out. We are a big pasta eating family, husband is Italian and the kids just love it. Cant wait to show Nonna the machine now, I bet she will want one too. Big thumbs up!
We had so much fun making fresh pasta, Educational experience included!
by miss emmajaneCombined rating
This morning we decided to go to the Market and pick up fresh milled wheat flour- as I mentioned in my last review flour looses 90% of its nutrients in the first 72 hours. We got the flour ground twice to make it finer- all right in front of our eyes and took it home to spend the day in the freezer (9am). This evening (6pm) we got out the flour and eggs and made up a basic fettuccine. It was great. As stone ground flour is not fine it does taste 'grittier' than what you buy at the shops (if you had your own mill you could probably grind it finer) but we really liked the texture. I felt very Little Red Hen making it this way - except it was effortless. I do recommend the egg just to ensure it sticks together, however I did not try it with just water so cannot say if it would still work. It also provides the education experience of looking at where our food comes from and can open up some good conversations around paddock-to-plate systems and even food miles. A great education topic for a child slightly older than our toddler with the certainty of a positive pasta making experience! So much fun, so much learning and so much yum! I really enjoyed it and we will certainly be doing this again. I posted these attached photos larger on instagram under my account xoxmissemmajane for you to see. I am hoping to experiment with a gluten free/low gluten vegan chia egg pasta recipe this week! Wish me luck :)
Homeless Hand cranks and Healthy meals on the horizon
by miss emmajaneCombined rating
I think most families own a hand crank pasta maker, a decision to try making pasta from scratch that results in a bought or borrowed machine ending up in the back of the cupboard. The next day sore muscles and warning over not getting the machine wet both a sorry reminder and warning of why pasta making should not be taken on lightly. We have made most things from scratch and so when the chance to review the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker came up I was excited to try pasta making again. Excitement, it arrived - the box and packaging was well designed. Most of the small parts were visible when the box was opened, and the other parts easy to locate. I was left with a small pile of plastic bags and some large recyclable cardboards shapes. Talking about rubbish, I felt one of the bonuses of the machine was the many, many plastic pasta packets that we would no longer be buying. The machine itself is curved; the design contributes to minimal joins which in turn makes cleaning easier. Most of the ‘mess’ is contained inside the washable components – that’s right all the detachable parts can be hand washed clean with water! The only part you have to watch for is the mixing paddle which can get dough into the indent at one end. The machine feels intuitive, you can clearly make out where the liquid goes in the top and that the lid lifts for the dry ingredients. However you DO need to read the instructions (no matter how much you feel it is easy to guess with the lines on the cups!). There is a difference between 90ml of water and 95ml of egg plus water. Not reading this will leave you with a sticky or dry mess. I did feel there could have been more information on drying the pasta as you can dry pasta or use it fresh. You also need to put the pasta into hot water – fortunately it is fast to clean if your other half presumes knowledge without reading the instructions! The machine comes with two measuring cups, one for dry flour and the other for the wet mix. These are great as you can make basic pasta with everything that comes out of the box. However, it is beneficial to have a blender or juicer. I don’t know of any stores that sell spinach juice. There are ways you can work without a juicer (add a splash of water to the blender and then strain) but in my mind a blender is necessary. Not to mention you can mill flour in your blender to reap the nutrient value (90% of its nutrients have been lost in the first 72hours – http://www.mynewroots.org/site/2009/04/its-miller-time-2/) – if you have a stone grinder or Thermomix this machine is its new best friend. Talking about the other pasta options, I felt nostalgic finding out it could make dumpling wrappers – there was a time they were not available in general stores and we had to travel far to the Asian grocery store if we wanted to make dumplings with the home stay students. I am keen to try these out. It has a good selection of options and I felt the other attachments that could be purchased are reasonably priced ($30 for two). Though there was consensus that Philips made a clear oversight not making a dinosaur pasta attachment. I am keen to make gluten free pasta – as I feel this machine would be perfect for families that eat gluten free considering the price of organic gluten free pasta! I am hoping to price match this in the coming weeks. However I felt the instructions and booklet lacked information on the topic. It also did not seem to encourage experimentation – I tried combining cinnamon into a basic pasta mix today for fun and ended up with too dry a mixture. More play time needed! All in all I felt the machine does an amazing job of making pasta, the mixing paddle uses a counter clockwise spin to mix and then a clockwise spin to extrude- there is some genius behind the machines design. I was not left with sore arms and am very grateful for the speed at which the machine will make enough pasta for 8 hungry adults tonight (30-40 minutes). I am feeling the love for the machine already. If you were wanting pasta with love kneaded in, this is not your machine – I have your machine, it is a soon to be homeless hand crank machine – I just need to dig it out of the far reaches of the kitchen cupboard first.
Creamy Chicken Carbonara
by kahlCombined rating
Soooo......ended up using the fresh spaghetti to make creamy chicken carbonara! It was a bog hit with the hungry teenagers who were searching for left overs! Sadly- there was none. Note to self: make lots! Cooking the fresh pasta only took about 4mins from boiling water. I was a little concerned as it was about an hour & half since I had made the pasta till I cooked it! I thought it might be a big blob! But it was no problems at all! Think the teenagers are very impressed with the pasta machine. They are pretty keen to give it a go! Yay! A night off from cooking for me! Recipe will be posted in the dinner section.......
It's very quick and easy yo use. Children can do it!

I love my Philips Pasta Maker, it's a very easy to use machine and the kids love using it. I like the flexibility of it - using it to make noodles for Asian dishes too. The one thing I don't like is that the texture of the pasta is not as good as when you use s traditional pasta machine. I think this is due to the short kneading time and single extrusion. I've tried s lot of different recipes but it doesn't change the texture - it lacks that smooth, silken feel of the traditional way. It doesn't really matter once the pasta is cooked, but it is certainly something to be aware of, especially given it is an expensive machine. I still think it was worth every (on sale) penny.
Pasta Cook Up

So tonight I experimented with different flours, to use egg with water or just water! The first batch of pasta was used using corn flour, water & eggs. It was almost a disaster as it came out dry - thought it was because of the eggs. It was even drying on the bench & splitting. Lucky I had my number 1 helping me out! We managed to save most of the pasta. But I think the pasta just seemed to lack elasticity. The next batch of pasta I used was with plain flour, eggs & water. It was better but still was as elastic enough for shaping our money bags. These however were a big hit in our household. Finally I made some feta & pumpkin ravioli. This was my first time ever at making ravioli. I used just plain flour & water. Maybe I need to tweak the recipes a bit as it was quite dry & splitting. It was a very hot night & we had the aircon on so will be good to try on a cooler night. The ravioli was delicious & we used the butter sage sauce from the Philips cookbook. I think its great machine but next time will use a cutter so that the ravioli pieces are all the same size. We had a great time in the kitchen creating these for our family. It was a great feeling at the end of the night. Cleaning the appliance is the hardest part of it all. Cant wait to use it again!

The Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker is extremely easy to put together, which also meant it was easy to take apart again to clean. Most of the pasta recipes use ingredients you’d already have in your pantry and recipes are provided with the machine, so you have everything you need to get started. The best thing about this is that you have fresh pasta, which tastes great, in fifteen minutes or less!
Great appliance to create your own fresh & nutritious dishes!

I was quite excited to receive my Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker. The design of the appliance is modern and not too big. I love the bottom drawer on the unit that stores the different extruders. The instructions to get started were very simple. I found that components could be taken off and refitted easily without fuss. The controls on the unit are great - it's basically 3 pushes of a button and it starts! Tonight I thought I'd try making some tagliatelle pasta. The process was so straightforward. First add flour let it mix for a bit and then add egg & water mixture. The whole process takes only 15 minutes and you have gorgeous pasta ready to cook! The only 'negative' I could fond with this first experience was that the shape of the pasta did not resemble tagliatelle. They were a bit 'squarish' and more like taglioni. I would have liked the pasta to be a true tagliatelle shape. I chose to add a roasted capsicum and egpplant combo to the pasta with generous garnish of fresh parsley. Simple and delicious!

I have been very impressed with the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker. It's so easy to use, that even my kids know how to measure and make the pasta. I no longer buy pasta, as the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker makes such a tastier, fresher pasta each time, we much prefer to make our own! The setting up and cleaning can be a little bit involved but, once you know what you are doing, it gets easier and faster each time. We love eating our fresh, home made pasta! Great work Phillips!

I am so pleased with my Philips Pasta & Noodle maker, I have made lasagna, spaghetti, fettucine and penne so far. My favourite pasta is lasagna & this machine makes the perfect lasagna sheets, they come out so fast and taste beautiful and fresh. I added one egg to the water to make fresh egg lasagna sheets and I loved how they turned out as did the family. The machine is so easy to pull apart and clean and put back together and the storage compartment keeps things looking tidy in my cupboard.

The second time I used the pasta maker my little girl helped me by cutting it as it was coming out and it was so easy for her. She loved watching it come out and was proud of herself. We made chicken carbonara. The pasta tasted so yum and we made it whole meal which is even more healthier. Loved the variation.
Reduces my time, and healthier for the kids!

I have been making my own pasta for a while, using the old hand turn machine. It always took me a long time to finish, and this then made me lazy, despite home made pasta being so much better and tastier. I then invested in the Phillips Pasta & Noodle Maker, and oh boy, what a difference it has made to my life. I no longer have to do the dough the same, or use my hands to turn the wheel 5 or 6 times per sheet. It is amazing. My kids say it even makes "real spaghetti", and now just thin linquine as in the hand held machines. Highly recommended!!

unfortunately I didn't get picked for a review . I'm so sad it would have been amazing I'm always making pasta especially gluten free pasta as my middle son harry is coeliac, this machine would be amazing to see if it could work the same for gluten free ingredients. Either way it looks like an amazing machine and Philips are always top notch in there product making and manufacturing

Presto Pesto Pasta!
by mom130675Combined rating
This week we tried flavouring pasta with tomato paste. It turned out really well and gave the pasta a lovely subtle tomato flavour. My daughter(11) has had fun using the machine and making dinner. This week she made the tomato penne with pesto chicken, baby spinach and cherry tomatoes. We have had no problems whilst making the pasta, each time producing a successful product. The cleaning of the pasta machine is generally quite easy but the penne extruding component can be a little time consuming to get completely clean even if using the instructions. Freezing the component does help but is still fiddly to clean properly.

Coconut Flour
by kahlCombined rating
Tonight I decided to use coconut flour to make some spaghetti pasta! Thought it would simply a matter of using coconut flour as a substitute for normal flour. I was so wrong! Added 1cup flour & 95mls of water but it still looked like flour. So I added an egg but still didn't really make a difference. After adding 4 eggs & more liquid I thought the pasta looked OK & I let it start making the pasta - this was after about 20mins of experimenting! The pasta was very soft & started to break @ 3cm length. I decided to persevere with the pasta & cooked it! Uh oh! Coconut flour & egg soup! Googled recipes but couldn't find a recipe using coconut flour! hopefully someone out there has been successful using coconut flour in the machine!
easy to use, unlimited fresh pasta

its fully automatic, it mixes, kneads and pumps it out all by itself. There a 4 different discs to give different shaped pasta. You can add your own ingredients to make beetroot pasta, carrot pasta etc. It's so easy to clean, even the man of the house can do it. And storage is a breeze, it all sits in its own little storage case. And it comes with its own little recipe book, to help get you excited about cooking pasta. I love it, I'm sure you will too

Recently purchased the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker and WOW one of my best kitchen gadgets. It is so easy to use and saves you money too. Just make sure your pasta sauce and water to cook your pasta is ready to go, then follow exactly the instructions in the easy to understand instruction book and within minutes of turning your machine on pasta is extruding from the head of the machine . Next put it into your boiling water and it's cooked in minutes. Even my husband watches in amazement .

I was fortunate and lucky enough to receive a Philips Pasta Maker and it has been received with such delight as I love fresh pasta! The whole family loves pasta and we love to eat homemade fresh pasta and we love to eat out at Italian restaurants. The entire family have put together a long list of pasta dishes that they would like to make and taste using the Philips Pasta Maker. We are going to have a weekend of making pasta. The machine looks easy to use and the Philips Pasta and Noodle maker recipe book that comes with the machine contains some fantastic looking recipes. Penne ‘mac’ & cheese is the first recipe in the booklet on the ‘to make’ list.
