Review: Philips Avent Comfort Single Electric Breast Pump
Introducing the Philips AVENT Comfort Single Electric Breast Pump – Your essential breastfeeding companion.
Breast milk is without a doubt the best for your baby’s start in life. But every mother is different and you may need some assistance to ensure you are able to breast feed for longer. Philips AVENT understand this and have developed a range of products to support you in your feeding journey.
Getting a breast pump as part of preparation for baby is the first step. A breast pump can help you establish supply but also allows you to share the feeding experience with loved ones.
Finding the best breast pump for you is easy with the help of the Philips AVENT Comfort Breast pump range.
Philips Avent Comfort single electric breast pump …
When you’re comfortable and relaxed, your milk flows more easily.* That is why Philips Avent has created their most comfortable breast pump yet for easy expressing at a touch of a button. Now you can sit comfortably while expressing with no need to lean forward, while the soft massage cushion gently stimulates your milk flow giving you and your baby the most comfortable and natural feeding experience. So, whether you’re breastfeeding, bottle feeding or both, the new Comfort range from Philips Avent is designed with you in mind.
Unique, natural expressing position
The Comfort breast pump is the only pump that allows mothers to express in a comfortable position instead of leaning forward, which often leads to discomfort and back pain. Sitting up straight will allow the milk to flow directly from the breast into the container. This improved expressing position helps mothers feel more comfortable and as a result, express more milk naturally.
Clinically proven to be effective
The Comfort breast pump features our clinically proven massage cushion with soft petals that gently compress the breast to stimulate milk flow. The innovative cushion has a distinctive, velvety texture that feels warm on the breast, further helping mothers to relax whilst expressing. The removable cushion also prevents milk pooling, aiding hygiene and eliminating the risk of lost milk.
Simple Settings
To stimulate the let-down reflex, mothers can start in a gentle stimulation mode then they can choose from 3 expression settings, depending on their preference for suction intensity.
Easy to combine breast and bottle feeding
Combining breast and bottle has never been easier with the new Natural bottles and Comfort breast pump range. The Natural bottle and Comfort breast pump integrate fully, so mothers can pump, store and feed with the same Natural feeding bottle-without the need to transfer milk.
Philips AVENT – Supporting you every step of the way.
*More comfort: 82% of 64 UK breastfeeding mothers agreed that this breast pump was more comfortable than their current pump (main market brands). Home placement test carried out in the UK in 2011 with 73 first time mothers – 94% of mums strongly agree that being comfortable while expressing is important for good milk flow. More milk naturally; independent research has shown that there is a link between stress levels and milk production. Burton PM, Kennedy K Ahluwalia J, Nicholl R, Lucas A, Fewtrell M.

Makes Expressing Simple
by KrysGraceCombined rating
The Philips AVENT Comfort Single Electric Breast Pump made expressing milk very simple. The product is very easy to set up, pack away and clean. The controls assist in making sure that you produce as much milk as possible while not being rough on you. The manual breast pump I was using became quite tiring to use. I would defiantly recommend this electric product to any breast feeding mother.
Love this
by Klsmith91Combined rating
I used this breast pump when my daughter was a smaller bub. It was fantastic, nice and gentle. It helped get a good supply plus extra to keep in the freezer. I loved all of the different settlings and the ability to put the bottle straight onto a connection to feed directly to my baby. I highly recommend all avent products to all new mums. This was the better of three different breast pumps that I tried.
Great pump
by Sandra_SCombined rating
I purchased the avent manual breast pump which I found to be not so great. I learnt the hard way after trying to express and not working. I almost gave up but we decided to purchase the electric pump. The best thing I did. This way my baby could get the best milk. I no longer use it. But wil definitely use it if we have another baby.
Love it

Been using for a month now and not only is it effort less it's actually comfortable and boosted my supply as a working mum! Thanks so much MOM
Boosted my supply
by evilmegsCombined rating
I've been using this pump for about a month now and can officially say my supply has doubled! I've sold my Medela Swing and am super happy with this pump! I'm thrilled! :)
Easy and less painful than most others when suffering mastitis
by christie_millerCombined rating
I definitely preferred this brand when I was expressing. I had mastitis and found this one to be most comfortable and easier to use. I would definitely use this again if I had another bubba!
using it from day one. very happy

I am second time mum and this time using Avent pump. very happy with my pump. i use it upto 7 times a day with no stress and difficulty. both me and bub are happy and more relaxed.
Great product and easy to use
by mom186025Combined rating
I have only had experience with this product no ther pumps however I found it great, very portable and easy to use. I borrowed my sister in laws as she no longer needed it and had to leave Bub overnight for a quick trip and I was stopping in the car expressing milk and it was easy.
The only Electric Breast Pump to use!
by mom62527Combined rating
This electric breast pump is honestly a great way to enable myself a little free time. It works easily and I can then freeze any extra milk I have expressed.
Avent delivers
by mom93821Combined rating
I am a huge fan of Avent products as they are always reliable and trustworthy and this is important to me when choosing products. The Avent breast pump is easy to use and I just wish I had discovered this product a long time ago instead of having difficulty with other products.
Better than the $2000 pump!
by BambiCombined rating
When my daughter was born 2 months premature she had to be fed with expressed milk. The hospital allowed me to use their machine but to be abe to express every 3 hours after visiting hours I had to pay $2000 a hospital machine of my own (becuase having a baby inn the NICU isn't stressful enough). I was despodant that I could only afford this one from the chemist... until I tried it. No only did I get a higher yeild with the Avent but it took less time and was kinder to my chest than the hospitl machine was. Being more comfortable my milk let down properly and my production increased rapidly meaning that my baby no longer neeeded to be topped up with formula, she was able to be 100% breast fed. I no longer needed to worry about cracked and sore nipples and the machine itself was so much easier to clean, assemble and disassemble. Some of them require a uni degree to work, I swear! Once we got home from hospital and my daughter was strong enough to feed... straight form the source so to speak, I kept using the pump after feeds to build up a supply of frozen milk which made feeding on the go super easy, my family could bond with her while bottle feeding and I could have her baby sat if need be. Avent products all fit together which made everything so easy. Just grab a bottle from the sterilizer, screw on, express and freeze, done.
Best pump I've used
by mom128023Combined rating
The pump felt comfortable against breast - felt as if baby was feeding, it doesn't hurt, nice and small so it doesn't take up a lot of room, very easy to use as it has three button for different speeds and it is very easy to clean,a little noisey but not enough to wake baby, does only come with a small 120ml bottle so might need to buy bigger bottles.

My husband bought this for my birthday present, really worth it, easy to clean, compact, easy to use, works well on the breast does not hurt or annoy me in anyway, would recommend to other mums. Small and easy to store and take with you on your travels, So easy to assemble.
Happiness in a magical package!

Doing my final review today. I am so grateful for the opportunity to review this pump! Last Thursday my dentist free lifestyle (apart from annual checkup and clean) came to an end when my delightful wisdom tooth reared its ugly head... Right through my gum and into my cheek! Knowing that I'm going to have to have it removed (unsure if in the chair or hospital) I know this will mean time away from bubs. Thankfully this little magic machine is here! Pumping away with ease to make sure I have enough milk. I'm off to the dentist for the verdict today. Again, I'm so happy with this pump and how easy it is making pumping for me and bubs. Cleaning is a breeze too... Which is great because I hate washing up!! Thanks again for the opportunity Mouths of Mums; and thanks Avent for creating a fantastic product!

It is the only pump I'm using so hard to compare to it but it is better by far than the one I used a few years ago. I seem to be able to multi task by using this one then I ever use to be able to and is quicker with a more regular pumping rate. Easy to clean, sterilise and assemble
It is great to get the quantity of milk

I sat down tonight & found that this breast pump does drain the breast better than the others I've tried. I found the speeds fine but if I were in a mad rush I would like to of had the option of a faster speed. :)
Easy, fast, comfy...
by nelly-jCombined rating
Luckily it's so easy to assemble because at first I couldn't find the diagrams. If you're visual and time poor like me, no chance I'm reading the instructions! The diagrams are folded in on themselves on the front and back page! Good to know! I'm more than happy with this little beauty! It's super easy to use, clean and I have found it much quicker than my other pump. It's not the noisiest pump I've used however while pumping, relaxing on the couch I did need to turn the TV up a little. All in all I'm not dreading the process of expressing because of this machine. Bring on the babysitter, I'm going out!
Still comfortable but perhaps a little noisy?
by evilmegsCombined rating
This is my 2nd review. I've been using this pump at least twice a day for well over a week now. To get a better comparison, I switched back to my Medela Swing for one pump, and I realised just how more comfortable the Philips really is! I also think I'm getting maybe an extra 20 mls per pump using the Avent. I don't think it's any quicker though, and I feel it's noisier, though my hubby reckons it isn't. Another negative is that the stimulation doesn't automatically switch to pumping like other brands do. I can't tell you the number of times I've been there for half an hour only to realise I forgot to actually pump, so I have to wait even further while I do a proper pump. Overall I would recommend this pump 100% over the Medela Swing if only I could see what was going on better. It still bothers me that I don't know if I'm done pumping or not because I can't see if the milk is still flowing very easily.
So easy to assemble & operate! Light, comfortable & effective!
by nelly-jCombined rating
Overall, I am impressed! Firstly it was really simple to put together. If something is too complicated it's put in the too hard basket, this pump is so simple to assemble! There aren't as many small parts as other pumps I've used which means less parts to loose & less mucking around with putting together (who has the time)!!! The massage cushion is super comfortable and in my first test run I was able to easily express 80mls in less than 5 minutes!!! I happily sat back on the couch, watching TV and let my latest Philips AVENT do all the work!!
Avent Electric Breast Pump
by Some_TossCombined rating
I bought this pump as well as my manual pump, and I have to say, I absolutely love it! It's really comfortable to use, and has excellent suction. I do find the manual even better than the electric pump, although my hand cramps up with the amount of squeezing that is necessary, I never have to worry about my batteries running low, or accidentally pulling the cord from the wall. :) However the almost hands-free feature is pretty unreal and convenient. I highly recommend this pump to anyone who wishes to express, it's definitely a good purchase, and really not terribly expensive! It's also really easy to clean, and the bottle is just the right size for an express and feed session. Love, Love, LOVE it!
Very gentle and relaxing way to express
by HuddysmumCombined rating
The Phillips Avent single electric breast pump is fantastic. After using another pump which I purchased overseas I was amazed at how gentle the Phillips pump was. Even on the lowest setting I am getting a great amount of milk at any time of the day. The unit is compact and easy to assemble, and I love that you can put the cap on when finished so that you don't spill any precious milk. I would highly recommend it to any nursing mum's.

With 2 under 2 it was important to have hubby help out so this way i pump and he also gets a chance to fed bub. We have gotten such a great routine down now in only 11 weeks due to this fantastic product but i still get to enjoy every minute of giving my bub breast milk. Thanks Philips for helping my family.

I love this electric breast pump. It work well and very comfortable. Easy to use and express more milk than my manual pump. Really worthy and practical when travel. I definately will recommend for family and friends. Can't wrong choose Philips AVENT product.
Great pump to take to work
by jodieandsamCombined rating
The more I use this pump the more I love it. It is really comfortable, I'm blown away at how comfortable it is. It's also really quiet and efficient. It's a next to take and use at work; it is really light and easy to assemble. The battery works great. I'm really pleased with this pump. The only thing that would make it better is if it was a double pump :) if you are looking for a pump, seriously consider this pump, it's great.
Couldn't be happier with my AVENT pump! Still going strong!
by nelly-jCombined rating
After a few weeks of using my new AVENT , all in all I couldn't be happier! The only thing I can fault is that the the cushion cover does need to be a little more secure. However I've previously used the Medela Swing, Cherub Baby and Tommee Tippee pumps and I have to say that I am favouring my AVENT. I have always found expressing a hassle, but because I have found the AVENT is fast to express, comfortable and so easy to use, I am no longer putting expressing off. Bring on more dates with hubby!!!
More milk
by PhoebeCombined rating
I tried to run it with my current electric pump at the same, it is quieter and more comfortable. However it is a bit heavier. It would be great if it can come with a travel bag. Love the cushion, compare to the hard plastic one. After using for a week, my supply increased 20ml. It encourages me to keep breastfeeding.
Impressed with first time use.
by katcoleCombined rating
First time using the pump this morning..very impressed! The most noticeable change with this pump for me was the way the pump works while you can sit back in a chair..(or in my case the lounge). It is so nice to be able to be relaxed while you pump! I always dreaded pumping as I knew it would mean hunching forward over the pump so that milk would flow into the bottle.. This increased comfort feels like such a luxury! And I think it contributed to the amount of milk I was able to collect! As I said already...very impressed so far!

I have a 8 year old who I expressed and I have tried plenty of breast pumps some good some bad but after trying the advent comfort single breast pump I would recommend to everyone I know it was easy setup it felt comfortable easy to clean and help boost my milk supply which we all want I don't always express as my three month old is breastfed that my partner enjoys feeding her with a bottle so I'm giving the advent comfort single electric breast pump 10 out of 10
Wonderful and easy to use.

I used this pump a few times a day for months to get my supply up and keep it up, still use it once a day now. The cushion helps stimulate more milk like a baby sucking so its perfect for helping with supply issues. Has a long cord so is easy to use anywhere, easy push buttons and variable settings/ sucking strengths. Comfortable to use aswell. Would recommend it to all my friends.
Apart from the noise, it is a great pump

I really love this pump apart from the noise. It is a very comfortable pump with the soft pad and boost my supply for the last 20 days. I would recommend to my friends and colleagues.
Loving that the battery option is just as effective!
by nelly-jCombined rating
I've tried out using the pump with batteries and loving that I don't have to get my extension cord out to make it work. It's just as effective as when it's plugged in to a power source. Love the freedom! Be brilliant to take overseas when we go, I don't need to worry about the difference in voltage.
Would definitely recommend

This pump not only is great for pumping milk but it also makes cleaning the pump easier with separate parts. The comfort of the pump cushion is amazing like you can barely feel it pumping the milk.
Great breast pump with very comfortable cushion and angle
by PhoebeCombined rating
Better than my current electric breast pump. It is easier to get the milk to come through and faster to fill the bottle. Stronger suction than my current one, and get more milk. Love the cushion, and the angle of the pump, I can really relax and feel the comfort of expressing. It is easy to use and clean after use. The pump was nice, quiet and very efficient.
Great product
by kimm33Combined rating
With breast pumps i value comfort and efficiency. I have tried the old avent electric breast pump and also have the Medea swing maxi double breast pump. The old avent was comfortable but heavy to hold as the motor was on top. The Medela was great at first but after months of continuous use (I solely express breastmilk as I had trouble breast feeding) my nipples became extremely sore and scarred, which isn't normal. The Medela has no cushion on the cups, just hard plastic. I received this new avent electric breast pump, and after cleaning it, tried it out, and boy was I impressed. Doesn't hurt as I pump the milk, love the cushion pad on the cup, love the angle of the pump as it allows me to relax instead of lean forward the whole time. I will continue using this in place of the Medela and see how I go. Will post another review in a day or so :)

Happy Mumma!
by claire1423Combined rating
I'm so happy using this pump! Because I already had a manual avent pump Iv been able to use the bottles and attachments from that set which has made it a breeze. Iv been expressing every day so it has boosted my supply and my stock in the freezer is more than ever!! I'm over the moon that this pump has reassured me that should I have to return to work sooner than planned all will be okay. The only thing is the noises it makes- my two older children find it absolutely hilarious. But I can't imagine you being able to create a pump much quieter than this. Very very very impressed thank you for the opportunity to try it out!
Great for first time mums
by First time mammaCombined rating
I purchased the AVENT breast pump after Bub was born (first time mum). It was well priced in comparison to other pumps on the market (I got mine on sale) and is a trusted brand. I find it easy to use with minimal parts to assemble which means it easily fits into my bag/luggage. It is a tad on the noisy side if I'm expressing early in the mornings but I find a towel placed over the machine muffles the noise. Overall a great product!

I absolutely love this breastpump! I found I express more milk and I believe it is just through being more comfortable! its nice and quiet. I love the new design where the motor is separate from the body of the breast pump. I particularly love the massage petals as I find this sootjing on sore nipples (competing breastpumps, particularly medela, do not have these). Thank you very much for kindly letting me review this product I absolutely love it :)
It goes in the dishwasher, PERFECT
by LouiseCombined rating
I had stopped expressing with my old pump as it was getting a little time consuming pumping, cleaning, sterilising. I was over the moon to discover that that the Philips Avent Comfort single Electric goes in the dishwasher!!! (except the electrical component of course). I just give it a quick rinse and pop it in the top shelf of the dishwasher, and it's ready for me to use the next morning. I am really enjoying how quick and efficient the pump is and don't feel like pumping is impacting on the small amount of time I have free in the mornings. It would be easier to pump at night but I'm a bit nervous as I don't feel full in the evenings. My next test will be to see how the pump performs at night!
Wish I bought an AVENT lectric Breast Pump sooner
by mom177850Combined rating
My daughter is 6 months as of yesterday and I have been expressing since she was two weeks old. I started to express so I could get my husband involved with feeding our baby as well. I was using a manual pump. I soon got over this and stopped expressing every night to just when I needed to go out. My daughter seemed to favour one breast over the breast and soon enough my left breast started to dry out. If I have had the Avant electric pump I could have continued to express the left breast to keep my milk supply up. After using the Avent Electric Breast Pump I was able to relax on the couch oppose to standing up and doing it manually. I was also able to get an extra 30ml from the electric pump to what I normally get when I express manually. I will defiantly be using the Avant Electric pump with my next baby and recommending it to all my friends
Couldn't live without it.
by shilto02Combined rating
Thankfully breastfeeding came easily for me but I've still used my breast pump to relieve engorgement and then when my bub went on a breastfeeding strike. When you're pumping many times a day, this pump is amazing as it's so convenient to use. I can read a book while pumping and instead of it being a hassle, it's actually some great down time. So easy to use and clean. It is one product that I just couldn't live without!
Better than hospital pumps!
by ForHeavensCakesCombined rating
So my baby was preemie and didn't suck so was tube fed for 5-6 days of his life, which meant from the get go, I was either squeezing or pumping until I couldn't anymore. But I had to use the hospital pump originally, oh it was horrendous! Also, (TMI) but my nipples were too big for the hospital ones, which only happens like 4 times a year (lucky me!), I had to go home the 4th day after having him, which was horrible but amazing as I was able to pump at home. It isn't a flawless pump, but it is awesome! I would highly recommend it, next time I think I would invest in a double if I am express feeding.
It's an easy to use product for simple mums like me

I had a preemie bubby so leaving hospital a breast pump was an essential for me. I absolutely loved my avent pump. It was comfy, easy to use and assemble and clean. I always expressed more with my acent pump then I did with the hospital pumps. It would be great if it was a double pump but other then that I highly recommend this product especially for mummas of prems. Its quiet and durable. Ive put it away for future babies
Gentle to use, plenty of power
by chok_aholicCombined rating
I am still enjoying using this pump but I do agree with other reviews that it could do with a bottle stand to save spilling milk trying to keep it up right while mucking around trying to express and care for a baby. Some other reviews have mentioned that the pump power isn't enough for them. I can't understand why I have found that the top setting is too much for me, and with my previous pump I was using the highest setting and wishing it was much stronger. I feel the avent provides some good settings and I still love the initial setting which mimics babies initial fast sucking. Another thing I have found is that the massage cushion cover can sometimes pull off the silicone cushion when you remove the cover. Another reason why the cushion could do with wrapping around the pump just a little more. The pump is still working wonderfully though and is lovely and soft to use.
More milk with Comfort
by sjd82Combined rating
Today I finally used it with my batteries and loved it, it was nice to sit on my couch and express comfortably. The only thing I would add is a simple little stand to place the bottle in as I don't like it touching other surfaces if it falls over whilst empty, but that's just a little gripe. Power was great (obviously using good brand batteries) still nice and lightweight. When I first turned the power button on, it started to flash, this indicates something's not right, it didn't take long to discover that I had one of the 4 batteries facing the wrong way, so that's a great lil indicator. After a few times expressing with the Avent Comfort, I have found my milk has increased and I'm getting it faster, thank goodness, this morning I got 125ml in 7 mins from one side, it normally takes me at least double that with the swing. Also I haven't mentioned that I like these new Avent bottles, unlike the older ones with the 'spill proof ring' that you had to add. It's not as quiet as I first thought but not bad. I think I will be packing up my old Medela swing and keep it as a spare/travel one and use my comfortable new Avent pump. Thanks Avent, love it
LOVE this pump!

Before using this pump, I had the Medela Swing. I have found the comfort to be exactly that - comfortable, breeze to get milk out (more than the medela!) Which is so great as I am a working part time mum. LOVE IT!
Great product, worth buying!
by MummakbCombined rating
More comfort, more milk naturally - the name says it all! Although my milk took some time to come through it was just fabulous at how simple and painless it was. The vibration of the pump is better than a loud noisy electirc pump which was nice. I fed my daughter at the same time as I pumped which made it easier to get the milk coming through. Can't wait to continue using the pump to see if it gets even better for me :)
So soft and lightweight
by chok_aholicCombined rating
This pump is so comfortable to use. The components are lightweight and soft compared to my loaned pump (another brand) which is clunky and solid. Right down to the motor component, with its light-touch buttons. I found expressing a breeze, the silicon nipple cushion is so soft, and the setting choices are excellent, including the simulation setting, which may be responsible for my getting more milk out then usual? Not being a person who usually gets a lot of milk when expressing, I found it satisfying to see through the clear neck of the pump! While assembly was easy, I do think the diaphragm could be redesigned to pull off more easily as its a bit tricky when disassembling. Big thumbs up for the new bottle teat shape though!
One month in and still happy!
by mom169007Combined rating
I've now been using the Philips Avent Comfort Single Electric Breast Pump for just over a month. It's been an absolute life saver given the strict pumping regime I've been on to get some weight on my now 9 week old bub. It's so much simpler to do having a hand free. I just have to ensure my nipple is correctly positioned at all time for maxim output. Overall, it's easy to use and does the job efficiently. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to check it out and have no hesitation in recommending it to other mums!
Pump is not quite anymore
by PhoebeCombined rating
After using it for more than ten days, it becomes louder and louder. I am using it to express everyday, however it is not quiet anymore. Not sure whether something went wrong or just the engine. Still express very fast to fill up the bottle. Would love to see any new product that can give me a relax and comfortable environment to enjoy breastfeeding.

I have used the Avent Comfort pump a few more times and can say I'm very happy so far. Cleaning was so easy, it gives me piece of mind that I can see all parts. I do feel more comfortable expressing with this pump thanks to the cushioning and tilted neck. I seem to be getting the same amount of milk if not more but have to note of duration in comparison to my current pump. It's also not as noisy. I have been using a Medela Swing but I would be happy to recommend this pump to friends.

Today I used this pump for the first time and was really happy with the results. I have used two different pumps previously to this one. The first one was the Medela Symphony Hospital Grade Breast Pump in hospital (this was used with one day pump sets and also the Avent Single Electric Breast Pump. So back onto today use, firstly i found this pump a lot more comfortable than both of the previous pumps i have used and also i did get more milk expressed but this may have been due to still being early days at breast feeding Cleaning was quick and easy as was assembling. Once all ready it is easy to get started, comfortable to use and not to load when using. Once finished was also easy to clean and sterilise. So after my first use, I am really happy with the pump and would recommend it to others. Hoping for contemned good use :-)

Went away for a couple of days and took the pump with me as a test for when we go back to the UK later in the year. I even took batteries as well to see if it worked just as well. It was just as good as when I used it at home. The only problem I had was the amount of stuff I had to take for our baby including a steriliser!! The pump has been a great addition to all the baby equipment I have a defiantly something I would recommend to others.

I like the settings, the let down phase and the three suction strengths make it easier to get on with it. it is a little heavier than the medela but the comfort does cancel that out.
Skeptical at first but am seeing results...

I was given a medela swing single breast pump for my baby shower and any time I needed to pump after my bub was born I would use that which seemed to be ok. Since going back to work a month ago I need to use the pump 3 days a week to express at work twice a day, I was finding my supply started to drop because i wasnt able to express long enough and the pump was really struggling to get any more then 50-60mls out of my left breast while getting approx 80-90mls from my right. The last 2 days I have been using the avent pump at the same time as my medela, one on each boob to compare the difference, the first day I didnt notice much difference, got about 10mls more then normal, but today I was really impressed, i got 100mls out of my left breast alone, thats a huge improvement ! Time will tell if its a once off or if this will continue but first impressions are good so far. Its easy to put together, its a bit loud when in use but what can you do. I do find it takes a little longer for let down to happen with the avent compared to the medela because the suction isn't as strong but once let down happens and you change to the rythmatic sucking its just as good if not better then the medela. I only use the highest setting and it seems to be doing the trick.
Effortless, pumping made simple and easy also Painless!
by MummakbCombined rating
The first time I started using this pump I was surprised at how painless it was compared to my old avent manual/electric pump. It felt like I wasn't even pumping, it was awesome! I like how it has different pumping modes so it can go slow, medium or fast or just contiuous. It took awhile for my milk to start coming through but it got there in the end :) Very happy with this pump so far!
Great Design, Easy to use and Efficient

I've always used a Medela pump which has worked great, however after having my second and returning to work, the demand to express several times a day meant I needed a great pump. The Avent Comfort has been fantastic. The design is great, it's easy to use and clean, and also allows me to express more than my original pump. Looking forward to familiarizing myself with it a little more.
So comfortable you could fall asleep

Unfortunately my daughter didn't take to the breast so I was dreading using a pump of any kind. But after having a good look at a few different models I chose this one. The soft cushioned cups are like massaging pillows that do all the work for you! That was great! And I could put the milk straight into her avent bottles, then the fridge, sounds too easy doesn't it? As a single mum it made life so so much easier. Thanks Avent/ Phillips
So easy, so comfortable, so effortless

I had been given another brand breast pump when I was expecting my daughter, as well as buying this AVENT pump. I can tell you now, when I had used both and realised which one was better, the other ended up in the bin! The AVENT pump is here to stay. It is so easy to use, so comfortable, it's like it's not happening at all. And it gets more milk, which is a bonus for working mums who have to place breast fed bubs in childcare. It cost a little more then my other one, but well worth the extra expense
Pleasantly surprised

I am a mum to a 6 month old beautiful little girl Macy. I applied to review the AVENT having previously owned a medela swing. The Avent pump was beautifully packaged and very easy to put together and use. With baited breath I tried my luck and not only was it effortless and quick I was able to express 150 ml within a 10 minute time frame with ease. It was easy to clean and store and I would highly recommend purchasing one to friends and family and any others looking for a price compedative, excellent electric fuss free breast pump.
Overall a great product, gentle to use, and powerful.
by chok_aholicCombined rating
This pump provides plenty of pumping power with 3 options. While my previous pump is too slow on the highest setting, I was surprised the middle setting was more then enough for me with the Avent pump, plenty of power! It could do with a bottle stand, and a travel bag to store all of its components, but is otherwise and excellent, light weight and easy to hold pump. It is also compatible with the old style Avent bottles, excellent! Hoever the new bottle and specifically the new teat included with this pump is excellent! Much more similar to a breast/natural shape, and doesn’t cave in when baby is sucking! The soft silicon cushion on the pump could wrap around the device a little more as this can pull off too easily, while the diaphragm could do with a tab to pull off more easily as it is difficult to get off once your done, however it is lovely to use and despite these two things, relatively easy to assemble and disassemble. I love that I can see milk coming through the see through body of the pump as this encourages me, not usually being able to express much. The stimulation mode also seems to make a difference, and I get more milk then expected when pumping. The pump works wonderfully overall and is lovely and soft to use.
Discrete and portable. LOVE IT!!

Second time I used the Avent Sinhle electric comfort pump I was in the shopping centre. I retreated into the mothers room to find a in a comfy secluded chair. With a power point nearby I easily hooked up the pump. Once again my milk flow was good and I produced 80ml from my left breast and 50 from my right. (They never been the same) I do think I had the suction up too high this time as the milk started to gather more in the too chamber than going through the valve. Can't wait to try it next time with batteries instead of a power supply. Great pump!!
Comfortable to use..
by alex_nisbetCombined rating
This is my second review of this pump, I am really loving the comfort of this pump compared to my medela swing. Let down is still slow as you can't adjust the suction of the let down setting but once it gets going I am definitely getting more milk then before. I wish it was a double pump and it would be perfect. The only thing I'm not liking about it is its a bit fidley to assemble and wash.
Pumping is no longer a chore!

I love this pump, nice and easy to use and works so much faster than my old one. The padding made it much more comfortable and it was really easy to pull apart and clean. I've already got my pregnant friend lined up to borrow as soon as I am finished with it! Would definitely recommend.
They aren't joking about the 'comfort' part!

Just received my new Phillips Avent pump in the mail! You know your life has changed drastically when getting something that excretes bodily fluids in the mail feels like Christmas! So here's my thoughts after the first couple of uses... First off, I found the putting together part a little complicated because the instructions aren't great and they don't really have enough visuals in the manual for the mechanically challenged like me. Thankfully, hubby was on hand to help me put it together. Once you know where things go though, it's a piece of cake. One thing I really like about the way it comes apart is there are no hidden bits that you wonder if you have cleaned properly. I have used a Medela Swing before and there is a bit that I can't see into and it bothers me because I like to see that everything has been rinsed clean after use. Everything is clear and simple to wash. The unit is very easy to use and I didn't even have to read the instructions to work out the buttons! Yay! It has the stimulation setting then 3 variable pumping speeds. I like to use the highest level and pretty happy with the level of suction. The pump is super comfortable! The fit in the hand is great, the cup against the breast is good and the 'pull'of the pump on your nipple didn't hurt, while still remaining effective. I liked that the hand held part of the pump is shorter than the other pumps I've used before, because the unit is held closer to your body which is easy on my wrists and overall. just more comfortable. One thing I don't like is that I can't really see what is happening while pumping, The plastic is a little frosty and the because the unit is shorter, I can't easily see down to see whether I am getting milk. This may not bother some people but because I've had supply issues, I get a little obsessive about whether I am squirting any milk out, and like to know if I still need to keep pumping or if I'm done. It also made it a little hard to tell if my nipple was centered enough and it took a couple goes to get the suction right. I've only used the pump twice so far so it's hard to tell yet if I'm getting more milk than I was using the Medela. I'm going to give it a few more times before I decide. Overall, I'm impressed with the pump and would recommend it to other mums, especially those who find expressing uncomfortable.
Yay so happy!

Iv been able to express so much more with this pump. Iv started using it every day; usually first thing when my older two are having brekkie and my newbie is having a sleep in. This has boosted my supply by about 30%. I'm now not worried about pumping for an evening out; or leaving bubs with hubby if I go to the shops. My only gripe is (and it's probably my breasts) I can't use the pump (or any other pump) with the cushion attached to the flange. No matter how hard I try if I have the cushion attached I don't get any milk out. So Iv been used to this and just use it without. Still works fantastically; just have to get in the right position so it doesn't pull too hard. Very very impressed and happy with this pump!! As you can see in my photo I have been able to use all the attachments I already had from my manual pump so Iv been able to just add these onto the pump and then express straight into the storage containers; which I can also feed straight from too.
Kind of like a boobie hug while pumping

I'm a first time mum and like many before me have struggled with breastfeeding. I have used a manual pump, a hospital grade pump and the medela swing pump, now l have been using the Phillips Avent Natural single electric breast pump. When l first used the Avent pump l was surprised by the comfort, unlike the previous pumps l have used l was able to sit back in a natural relaxed seated position. The soft petal cushions gave extra comfort, kind of like a boobie hug while pumping, a luxury other pumps do not have. The three expressing settings are gentle and easy to change speeds with the one touch buttons. The pump while working hard pumping that liquid gold does make noise, but they all do. My husband who has sat with me during a lot of my many pumping sessions believe the Avent is the quietest. Having a hubby approval is a big plus. I tend to zone out the noise and watch TV. If you have to pump at work get some relaxing music on and enjoy some alone time ( after all it's probably the only alone time a working mum would have). I love the design, no milk can be accidentally pumped into the tube and sucked into the machine (which has happened to me with other pumps). I love that there is sealing caps to keep the milk hygienically sealed, comes in handy when having to stop half way to tend to baby. The cord is long, it's easy enough to assemble (you will need to read the instruction booklet). Overall it provides everything you need to express, store and feed. My only complaint is there is no storage bag. So l have to keep storing the machine in the box after use. This is easy fix by getting a lunch bag to store it in which will be ideal when traveling. From my breast pump experience, l recommend the Phillips Avent Natural breast pump as your first and only choice in breast pumps. I am very happy with mine.
Very comfortable and a cheap working alternative to hospital grade breast pumps
by lepumpkinheadCombined rating
I bought myself one after giving birth to my son, I was told to express my milk as it took a while for my milk to come in and my son needed top ups. This pump is extremely comfortable, so much more than a hospital grade pump, the little cushions that surround your breast mean that it doesn't feel like your nipple is about to be ripped off. I get a lot of milk from this pump, granted not as much as hospital grade, but I prefer this as it is more comfy. Definitely worth the money.

So for my third review I decided to attempt to express in the evening. Like most, my supply is low during the evening. My previous pump would get 30ml from both breasts combined in about 30 minutes. Because of this I have never bothered to pump in the evening, which is unfortunate as it is the most convenient time for me. I was elated to be able to express a full bottle, from both breasts combined, in half the time. I really feel that is a massive achievement.

I have been using this for 2 days so far pumping about 4 or 5 times a day. Very comfortable product to use. Can't say I express more milk yet will need a few more days to tell you an honest result. I absolutely love the fact I can lay back and relax while pumping breast milk.
Super easy and comfortable to use!!

Having been an avid AVENT fan (bottles and manual breast pump) I was keen to try out the new electric single comfort pump. And comfort it was.. I first used it at my weekly mothers group. It was a chance to sit down and relax near a power point rather than standing up to manually pump like I normally do. The pump was extremely easy to connect together. It has a let down function that automatically comes on first then three different pump speeds for when the milk is flowing. In the same amount of time that I use my manual pump (10 minutes each breast) I produced 70ml from my left and 60 from my right breast. I am looking forward to using the pump with it's battery option making it super portable. Well done AVENT! You made my life a little easier.
Designed for Comfort
by mom177677Combined rating
Used the AVENT Comfort Single Electric breast pump for the first time last evening instead of another brand electric breast pump, and while the difference in the amount I could pump was not much , in regards to my comfort level there was a huge difference! The AVENT breast pump was a lot kinder on my back - I didn't have to slouch/lean forward for the milk to flow into the bottle, this was a huge positive as often my back is aching by the time I have expressed a bottle. That massage cushion felt lovely, I had a quick-let-down probably because of this feature, it is so nice not to have your nipple wedged against hard plastic While the unit was a little noisier than the other brand, I will continue to pick the ADVENT electric breast pump due to the comfort while expressing it provides. I also liked the cap that covers the breast pump meaning I can have it all set up before I go to work while still keeping it clean!!
I love it

by jodieandsamCombined rating
Now that my baby is better I've had the chance to use this pump quite a lot this week and I am really enjoying it; it's very quiet and efficient. I've been using the pump in between feeds to try and build up a supply for when I return to work next week and it's been great; I've been able to express two thirds of a feed in be†ween feeds which I'm really happy with. I took the pump away with me for three nights in a hotel and it was very light, easy to set up and quiet enough for me not to worry about anyone hearing me. Also, the more I use it the more I realise just how comfortable it is. As other mums have mentioned, i† would be great if it came with a little carry bag; a little zippered, padded bag would be great but even a drawstring cotton bag would be better than nothing.
Still loving this pump, but like anything, it takes getting used to.
by chok_aholicCombined rating
I'm still enjoying using this pump with its soft and lightweight components, it is very gentle to use, but I have found I need to get the cushion in the right place or else it doesn't pump effectively. (This could just be me, and I may need a larger size?) I initially thought it was because I was using old Avent bottles (which the manual says the pump can be used with) but having tried a few times with the new and old bottles, I discovered it was the way I was holding the pump. Perhaps the cushion could wrap around the outside a little more? The pump is still a delight to use though, and although I haven't had the chance to use it off-site yet I am looking forward to seeing how it goes with batteries. I agree with other mums though, when paying for a product like this, it wouldn't hurt for Avent to include a travel bag for the components to be installed.

After using my Medela and my manual pump I can see pros and cons to all 3. I have used the Avent Comfort a few times now and it's by far the most comfortable which is great for when I have time to sit and express. In comparison I'm not finding that it's any faster and I can't say that there has been an increase in milk that is more noticeable. It's a nicer design than the Medela but just wish it was as compact as I travel a bit and would be nice to come with a little travel bag. Cleaning is definitely easier but there are one or two more parts to clean than the Medela. I do think it's a great pump.

I have now been using the pump for about a week and still finding it to be a great pump. It is so easy to use, extremely comfortable, and does a very good job with expressing as much milk as my Medela pump. Cleaning up is also very easy. A great design and product my Avent.

I was so excited to try this product as Avent is a trusted brand in babycare. At first impressions I liked the design, although a little big especially when you think of taking it in your bag, but it's a plus when it comes to cleaning the parts, the fact that you can get to all areas unlike some other pumps. Pump was easy to assemble. First use, very comfortable, I love the soft, textured massage cushion which made it pumping at all 3 speeds so comfortable that I'm unsure of whether it really was that comfy or was it not pumping hard enough...will review again after a few more pumps. The tilted neck allowed me to sit naturally making it more comfortable to express. So after the first use I am quite impressed.

This was the electric pump I chose to use even thought it was expensive. It was comfortable and really simple/ easy to use. I loved it! I couldn't compare it to anything else as it worked so well in all different ways I had no need to try another brand. I also love the avent bottles aswell, everything connects properly so when I finished expressing the same bottle was used for storage and feeding. A brilliant system!

I really struggled to express using my current electric pump after my daughter went for a few months refusing bottles. When I changed to the Avent pump I was about ready to give up but I'm so glad I didn't! This pump allowed me to double to amount I was expressing and it didn't hurt like my old pump did. The variable suction worked really well and wasn't too harsh for extended use. The pump was easy to put together and also dissemble to clean. This pump is definitely one I would recommend and I will be using it when I eventually have a second child!

5 days on and really happy with the pump
by sjg1981Combined rating
Its been 5 days since i started using the Avent pump and I am still very happy with it. The main thing I have noticed is that I am able to collect more milk which is a blessing as whenever i do express it gives daddy a chance to feed our little one. The comfort is still good and cleaning is still very easy. The only reason i gave it 4 out of 5 for 'making expressing effortless' is just because you still have to hold it - wouldn't it be great to have one thats hand free?? The only slight downside is that when i was using it last night in my room, it did sound quiet loud, which was a little bit annoying as our baby is currently bunking in our room :-) I would still recommend this to anyone who was going to express.
Light, Comfy and just what you need!
by dbensleyCombined rating
Straight out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how compact the power adapter was. My current pump had a huge one! It is very light also which is great for taking it to work. Even though it is so light, it is all very solid and feels durable. Not flimsy at all. It has the same number of components to clean as my current pump but also comes with extra bits like a bottle top and teat which was a bonus. Once I used it, I was very impressed with how comfortable it was! It did the job perfectly and with seemingly lees strain on me. The stimulator function is a brilliant idea! It is very easy to use and you can't really go wrong. The difference I noticed with my current pump is that it has less control on the suction. I was able to adjust the speed of the suction and the intensity on my current pump but the Advent one just gives you three suction options. Luckily though it seems like a good speed so didn't take away from its purpose. I also felt the Advent pump was a little louder than my current pump but not loud enough to draw attention to myself in my office. So far I am extremely happy with this pump and keen to use it a lot more!

This amazing little thing you plug it in and press and off you go. I got 70ml on my more dominant breast and then 30ml on my left. This is after having fed my 12 week old. So far I'm super impressed at the ease of use!

My second son had a lot of trouble latching on, and I had a lot of trouble expressing by myself in the shower by myself with hot water. After the midwife came to visit she made it sound so easy. I got my husband to run out and purchase avent. I only wanted avent as I trust this brand and product, it was easy to assemble and was comfortable enough. To a point. Your boob is being sucked through a machine it is weird but it gets the job done and does not hurt or tears the nipple. I highly recommend this product in the end I froze my breast milk which gave me time to rest and was able to give bonding time for hubby and baby too as they could have feeding times too!
Milk only flows during letdown on batteries
by bumblepieCombined rating
Third time I used this pump I decided to use batteries.. Worked just as well as it did with the power pump. I've noticed the milk only flows out when the breast is having a let down. In between let downs no milk seems to come out. If I squeeze it, milk comes out so there is definitely milk in there. I don't think the pump is powerful enough between let downs.
It is a fantastic and effortless breastpump.

Four weeks ago I welcomed baby number 4 into the world. Three weeks ago, I got the dreaded talk from my midwife: ‘Your baby has lost too much weight’. Cue dramatic music and a mother sobbing over her child. Actually, that’s not what happened. Having had another of my children have a similar issue, I knew the drill. I was to offer both breasts, then express and feed bub a bottle. Every few hours. Day and night. So, not only was I a typical Zombie mum, I was to be a Zombie mum with her boobs out! I pulled out my trusty manual pump, which amazingly came with a queue of my 3 other children, lining up to ‘help’ with the pumping. I didn’t mind though. The queue was smaller than those for the rides to Movieworld, and it was a much cheaper thrill with about a similar delight level for said children! Then, I received a wonderful surprise when I opened the door to the postie (as opposed to the surprise he received after my firstborn when I had been non-stop feeding and forgot to put my breasts away, but that’s another story...). He had brought me the Avent Natural Single Breast Pump! Having never used an electric breast pump for any of my 4 children previously, I was a tad excited. The box was covered in tantalizing promises such as ‘More comfort for mum, more milk for baby’. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to get started. Hubby made himself useful by washing all the relevant bits and sticking them in the sterilizer, whilst I sat with the baby in one arm and the instructions in the other, just to make sure I was completely in control of this wonderful new addition to the household. It came together easily enough, and when I was comfortable and ready, I pressed the start button. It whirred to life, beginning with the ‘gentle stimulation mode’ which is meant to simulate the initial suckling that bub uses to bring forth the milk. I couldn’t actually believe how quickly this worked, and before I knew it, I was ready to press one of the 3 expression settings to begin this pumping journey in earnest. I decided to start with level one, and immediately found that I didn’t have enough suction to sufficiently draw the milk out. I carefully pressed the second and third settings, with a similar result, so I turned it off to investigate. I found that the very lovely ‘soft petal cushion’ wasn’t working with my ample bosoms to create a seal for suction, so I removed it and started the process over with much more favourable results! I had dealt with different suction ‘settings’ previously with my manual pump, due to my own and my children’s various pulling strengths, but it was nice to have be able to chose a set strength. I settled on the middle setting – given the state of my worn nipples by this stage, I couldn’t quite deal with the strength of the pull of the third setting, and the first setting was way too weak compared with my feisty little man. Within moments, I was on my way to milk domination! My initial thoughts while sitting there was that I was being incredibly lazy. Having manual pumped so often for so long, I really felt that I could include the whole pumping regimen in some amazing new mum’s workout. But now, I was just sitting there. I was definitely comfortable, and the milk supply was just as plentiful, but there is something primal and earth-motherly about pulling a pump to receive the bounty of milk. I got over that feeling pretty quickly though when I realized that I had a free hand to do stuff with. Stuff like change the channel on the TV from the Food Network (which my husband always left me with – possibly in the hope that I would become a much better cook) and being able to shoo my children away from my stash of food and drink, and, most importantly, I had the ability to Facebook! This sealed the deal for me in terms of being an electric pump convert. The Avent Natural Single Breast Pump came with the pump, the motor unit, a 125ml ‘natural’ feeding bottle, a newborn teat pack and sealing disk to store the milk, and a few replacement parts, should the other bits go awry. They even threw in 2 x Avent Day breast pads and 2 x Avent Night breast pads to trial. It is super easy to put together and use, and just as easy to pull apart to clean. The bottle was a hit with my bub and having been given some second-hand Avent bottles, I was pleased to see that these older versions still fit with the newer pump thread. The only downside was the noise. While it’s not overly loud, I did have to turn the television up to hear it, and it woke both my husband (who sleeps through most anything), and the baby when I used it overnight. Apart from that, everything else was a winner. If you are able to afford it, I would easily recommend it – especially for my fellow Zombie Mums who have to have their boobs out in the name of nourish and nurture!

As the box says! More comfort and more milk! I've been using the Manual breast pump from Avent and that works great, but to pump electrically, it is effortless. All I needed to do was just sit back and relax, while the pump does the rest. Setting the pump up was a little fiddly, but overtime with continue use it should be a breeze.
Keeping My Supply up - with batteries!
by LouiseCombined rating
My almost 1 year old is quite unwell at the moment and has been nursing less frequently, instead being given some hydralite and water with her solids. I decided to utilise the pump with the batteries while she was eating to try and keep my supply up. The pump worked just as well on battery power as it did on mains power. There didn't appear to be any loss of suction and I was easily able to fill the provided bottle with each pumping session. I have been pumping multiple times a day and have managed to easily maintain my supply (perhaps even increasing it slightly). I was very pleased with the power of the pump while under battery power as it allowed me the freedom of movement while I still got full use out of the pump. Than you for selecting me to review this product, I'm very happy with the pump and have recommended it to friends who are looking at breast pumps.
Comfort comfort comfort.

I'm still loving the comfort of this breast pump- both around the breast, and holding the bottle in my hand. I don't think the milk volume is any different to my Medela swing (but it's hard to know really and volumes change daily). The flexible cord is better than the Medela- less restricting!
Can sit back and relax while the 'work' is done
by mom132206Combined rating
I love this pump especially in the early weeks where lack of sleep leaves you feeling exhausted, I was able to sit back comfortably and use this pump. I also needed to increase my supply in the early days I was so glad I had this pump as I only needed to spend ten minutes using it each time.
brilliant breastpump

The pump looks very clean and fuss free. I love the calming purple as colour, unlike the other breast pump colours. As I'm always on the run i love the fact that you can use everyday double AA batteries to pump as it works just as well. THank you for allowing me to trial this excellent product.
Growing on me
by mom70876Combined rating
I have to say that i love this breast pump. i've not used another brand prior to this one though, so can't comment on a comparison. This is rather easy to use. IT is easy to pull apart and clean. The gentle sucking action gets you started, then you simply choose the "strength" based on your flow. The plastic does yellow after a while however.
No blocking the tube!~ Yay!
by dannii2284Combined rating
I use/d a Medela swing before trying the Avent Comfort. Sometimes upon start up with the Medela, milk gets caught in the pump and can go up into the tube -and even into the electric pump if you dont notice immediately. Cleaning the tube is hard - even after cleaning thoroughly, mine grew mould so I needed to purchase a new tube. The Avent Comfort doesnt do this as the pump is different- Im very happy - dont need to keep an eye on it continuously. Its great!
Easy to use, really comfortable, compact and modern.
by alimcd25Combined rating
First time using the Avent pump and was impressed. I had been using a madela pump borrowed from my sister-in-law. I found the Avent lighter and more comfortable to use although I'm probably used to a stronger suction. Having said that, it sodding take that long to express a good amount of milk. I'd be interested in pumps adding a timing feature as at the moment I use my mobile phone but would be good to be able to set the pump to express for a set time and it automatically stop, just a thought for future designs! I like the look of the pump, modern and the colours are feminine.
Comfortable and quiet
by kell_jenkinsCombined rating
Very easy to put together and I was surprised at how comfortable it is, love the fact i dont have to sit up and be aware of how the milk is flowing into the bottle, I can relax. I find the suction very comfortable compared to others I have used but havent found im getting much milk out of it yet, will keep using and see how it goes over a few days
Comfortable and Using to put together

I currently use a Manual Avent pump and was excited to receive my Comfort Electric. The first thing I noticed, in comparison to other pumps I've looked at, was the softness of the padding on the breast cushion. While having a play with it, before using, I was surprised at just how quiet the pump is. I found the pump very easy to assemble and the instructions were very straight forward. I thought I pumped well with the manual pump but was blown away at the time reduction to get the same amount. I pumped no longer than 6 minutes and filled the bottle that was supplied. I am extremely impressed with that! The padded cushion makes for comfortable expressing and I think that the vry quiet function of the unit makes it great to pump anywhere and at anytime. Look forward to seeing how our next use goes.
Love it!!!

This is the First time I'm using the pump and I'm very impressed! The most noticeable change with this pump for me was the way the pump works while you can sit back in a chair..It is so nice to be able to be relaxed while you pump! I always dreaded pumping as I knew it would mean hunching forward over the pump so that milk would flow into the bottle.. This increased comfort feels like such a luxury! And I think it contributed to the amount of milk I was able to collect! As I said already…very impressed so far!
Yellows with time
by mom70876Combined rating
Further to my first review on this pump, I have attached a picture of the yellowing of the plastic parts of the pump with time. This is despite cleaning thoroughly and storing properly. Of course it does not affect the usage at all (I hope). Still a very versatile pump, not too big either so could use it at work if necessary. This is the only pump I have used so can't compare whether it is more or less effortless than other brands.
Avent Comfort
by mom107035Combined rating
This pump is very easy to put together and definitely at the moment allows me to pump more in a shorter amount of time which is amazing as this is my third baby. It is on the noisy side my four year old said that's noisy mum. I do like the extra comfort measures they do help but as a larger breasted girl I do find my nipple still rubs a little. While not extremely uncomfortable it is definitely not comfortable. Overall this is a very effective pump that I would definitely recommend to others.
Comfortable!
by dbensleyCombined rating
I have been using this pump now for a couple of weeks and am very impressed! It really is comfortable and there is no lingering discomfort either which my old pump gave me. It is so simple to use and clean, though there is a piece they say shouldn't come in contact with milk but it does for me so i have to wash that as well. So a little bit extra to wash but not hard to wash.
Great little breastpump
by mom70876Combined rating
I was unfortunately not chosen to review this breast pump, but I have purchased one anyway, so will give my 2 cents here. The pump is very easy to assemble. Initially I had trouble getting used to the pump, but now it is so easy to use. You simply use one function to create the flow, then depending on how full you are, you can use the other functions to empty faster. The only problem that i have is that after storage for a short period, the clear plastic parts have become yellow tinged. Even after cleaning and storing properly.
Comfortable but slow
by kell_jenkinsCombined rating
I am definitelty finding this pump alot more comfortable quiet and very easy to use especially not having to sit forward but still finding it very slow and not a lot of suction even on high so finding expressing milk takes a lot more time.
A well known product to use

Philips Avent is a well known brand for great products. My daughter-in-law now uses Philips Avent bottles as the teats are much more comfortable for my granddaughters, she uses their steriliser, which is a fantastic product, so easy to use. The bottles come in efficient sizes as well as being a good size to transport around for when I look after my granddaughter. The middle granddaughter only has a bottle at night, so the small ones are great for her, the bigger one is good for the youngest after mum expresses her milk. Definitely a product to recommend.
My new choice
by mom199864Combined rating
I really like this product it's so easy to use, clean and pack away, I'm getting fairly better results than what I did from my last model and this one is allot more comfortable and allot more convenient. I can use this any time at home without having to worry about fiddling around wasting time and I can stay comfortable and happy while using it.
Overall a great pump
by Klsmith91Combined rating
This is a great pump overall, It certainly isn't a hospital grade one though. It is easy to use, quite comfortbale to use and I got a lot of milk, It could be more powerful though. for the price it is great though and avent are great products. My daughter took straight to the avent bottles so this pump made it easy to pump and feed without having to switch bottles around. Overall I would recommend to other mums.
Can't choose
by tree mumCombined rating
The Avent pump is getting easier to use every time I use it. I think it just took me a little while to get used to it but as I relax and get in the flow more and more milk is coming. I'm still on two minds on which pump I like better the swing or the avent.
Not bad

Pretty expensive for a pump. Pump worked well. And good suction. Easy to clean and steralise.
Comfortable and easy to use
by NaomiCombined rating
Today i decided to try out the Philips Avent Comfort Electric breast pump at the same time as my Medela Manual pump to compare. Ease of use - both are easy to use, but I found a few times when my mind wandered I would forget to pump the manual one so the electric pump is definitely more convenient. Comfort - I find both quite comfortable. The manual pump gives more control regarding suction level but the Avent Electric pump is still very comfortable. Settings - I really like the first setting on the electric pump that helps to get the milk flowing. My Medela pump has an equivalent function but I never really got the hang of it, so the Avent Electric definitely wins here. Amount - The Avent Electric pump did get a little bit more milk in the same time frame, but given all the other variables, I wouldn't say it was enough of a difference to really count. All in all, I found using the 2 pumps simultaneously was a good way to get a decent amount of milk and if I had my time again or was a full time pumper, I would definitely look at a double electric pump. But as a casual pumper, as much as I do love the Avent Comfort Electric Breast pump, for my money I would still just go with the manual pump. For the Avent Comfort electric pump to be really worth it for me personally, it would need to be almost totally hands free and be able to pump more milk in less time to be worth the extra money.
Lives up to the name- Comfort!
by dannii2284Combined rating
I currently use a single Electric Medela pump so it was easy to compare 'apples with apples.' It was easy to assemble straight from the box, but just by looking at all the components, I can tell it's going to be challenging putting it back together for the next use. I loved the white cap/cover- it's much more hygienic. The massage cushion was so comfortable on the breast. The pump was nice and quiet, and the bottle was comfortable to hold close to the body. Looking fwd to trying again tomorrow night. It's a great idea to add the breast pads too!

they wernt bulky like others and the sofy cover was great esspecially with sore nipples at the start. I did find all the little fiddly bits hard sometimes to clean ect but great to use otherwise

I liked this pump for ease of assembly and cleaning etc. I found thought that my breast didn't sort of fit the cup. It would be nice to have a soft pliable bendy cup rather than a hard one.
A very comfortable and effective pump
by NaomiCombined rating
After a few more days am finding this pump easier to use. I am getting a little frustrated with having to sterilise it all the time, but you get that with any pump. Having said that I have just read some suggestions on the ABA website and perhaps I am going a bit overboard with the cleaning. lol I am still finding the pump very comfortable, but it isn't really any more effective than my manual pumps. And to be honest, I find storing the electric pump part, and needing to be near a powerpoint (or use batteries) just add to the reasons I would be just as happy with my manual pump. I am still hopeful that with more use this pump will come into its own. I can see a time when I only had one baby, and I could really sit back and relax, read or watch TV and pump, Avent comfort electric pump would be ideal. But in my life now with a 6yr old, 3yr old and baby, I just don't have the chance to sit and relax while I pump. Life is always on the go. At least with the manual pump if I have to attend to one of the kids, I can easily take the pump with me and not have to stop. Not very glamorous, but practical. In a perfect world, I would like to see an electric pump that is smaller and can perhaps be somehow strapped to one's body. Also it would be fantastic if it could be truly hands free. Maybe it could somehow clip to a bra or have a strap or something so one could easily pump while playing with/entertaining or even feeding baby at same time as pumping. I look forward to seeing what the innovative people at Philips Avent come up with. :)
Getting better with more use
by NaomiCombined rating
Today I discovered I can tuck the Avent comfort electric breast pump into my bra making it almost hands free. I did keep my hand resting on the bottle for most of the time just to make sure it didn't spill if it did slip, but I was able to take both hands off for brief moments, making it easy to read a book while expressing. I am also finding the more I use this pump, the better my experience. I am now getting my milk to flow faster making pumping easier and less time consuming. I am not sure whether to put this down to my body or experience with using the pump. I am finding the Avent Comfort Electric breast pump very easy to use and more comfortable than my other manual pumps, making the choice to use the electric pump and put away the manual pumps easy. However, despite all the pluses of the electric pump, for a casual user such as myself, I would find it difficult to justify the extra expense of the electric pump when compared to a good quality manual pump.

The Phillips Avent pumps are always fantastic. This one is particular was great! Easy to assemble, easy to clean, pumped milk with ease, was comfortable on my skin. Only thing i think i could pick on would be...sometimes having trouble with suction...sometimes i had to stop and readjust where it sat on me in order to get proper suction.
Quiet, efficient and easy to use little pump
by jodieandsamCombined rating
I have only been using this pump for about a week and it has been difficult finding time to express because my baby has been sick and wanting to constantly feed, but so far I'm impressed. It is very easy to assemble, disassemble and clean. A cover for the flange is included which is great because it helps to keep the unit clean and hygienic, particularly if transporting the pump. This pump is very comfortable to use, particularly with the silicone insert, although I do find that suction is increased once the insert is removed. I think it will be very easy to take to work once I return because it is so compact and light. It is also very quiet. I really like that the let down mode starts automatically once the pump is turned on and then it's very simple to switch it to the desired speed/suction. I haven't been able to get a lot of milk out so far but with my baby being sick I'm essentially having to pump half an hour after a feed. On a superficial note, it's quite good looking for a pump; I particularly like the colour scheme. I'm looking forward to being able to use the pump more regular once my baby is feeling better and also trying it in battery mode.
A good little pump
by NaomiCombined rating
I tried out the Avent Comfort Electric pump with batteries today and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. It worked just as well as if it was plugged in. And much more convenient not having to be close to a powerpoint. I was able to sit in bed comfortably propped on pillows and express. It was great. I suppose the real test will be how long the batteries last.
Comparing pumps
by tree mumCombined rating
I have used quite a lot of different breast pumps, manuals ones and electric older styler Avent one, My biggest problem with this pump is that I had to go and buy a bigger Avent bottle type for pumping as I found that it was not big enough. I like this pump it is very comfortable. But I have large breast size D and I need to hold my breast in the cup because the cub is still too small. So would need to buy a bigger cup to make it easier for me to pump because of my size of my breast.

My breastfeeding days are now over, possibly forever *sniff*, but my pump will be in good hands. My sister will be taking it on to help increase her supply for her newborn bubba. I will ask for her review and let you know.

After using for a few weeks now, it really is a light weight and comfortable but I would like another level of suction to be added, to make it more powerful.
It's not my type of pump, but it works, and is easy to clean
by GurtlingCombined rating
This pump is not my cup of tea. There is nothing wrong with it, if you haven't tried the other pump I am using which is the swing pump by Medalla. I honestly would recommend it as a lower priced pump, but also that its functioning whilst average is not excellent as I have experienced. That said it is effortless to assemble and use and clean thats always a win if you ask me. I do not express as much milk with this pump, as with my other pump. I was lucky to have been gifted both pumps and since have given away the Phillips single electric to a charity for women where I am sure it will be well used and appreciated also. It was comfortable to use, no problems at all just not more comfortable than my Medalla.
just what i needed

I took this with me out whilst at a friends out without bub and it was easy to transport, plus I could express with the battery pack. it was a lil slower that the first time i used it, maybe because I wasn't as full? Not sure.
Great breast pump

This pump is amazing! I had been trying unsuccessfully to pump with another pump for 3 months. I was sent the Avent electric about 3 weeks before my wedding which I desperately wanted some milk stocked up for. Well the first time I pumped I got 60mlS. The most ever! And after 3 weeks I get 260ml from one side every morning. I would definitely recommend to every expectant mum!
Adequate but prefer other brand
by teegsCombined rating
I tried this advent breast pump and whilst it was easy to use I did have trouble getting enough milk out, I switched to a different brand that was able to suction it out more easily. I would recommend it though as an alternative for other mothers to try. Every woman is different so it may suit them better than it did me.
Easy and comfortable, but still a little slow
by NaomiCombined rating
So far in my breastfeeding career (currently exclusively breastfeeding bubba # 3) I have used the Avent, Medela and Tommee Tippee manual breast pumps. They have all been much the same. Reasonably effective but rather time consuming. My issue with all 3 has been the time it takes me to get one feeds worth of milk. So I was very excited to be chosen to trial the Avent Comfort Electric Breast Pump, with the promise of faster more effective milk extraction. To date I am somewhat disappointed. Yes it is easy and saves on my hand muscles, not having to manually pump. Yes it is very comfortable (more so than my latest pump the Medela). Yes it is effective, but the disappointing factor for me is that it is no faster than any of the manual pumps I have used. Nor does it manage to get any more milk. So for the higher price tag, I would just as soon continue with the manual pump. You still need at least one hand to operate it (the same as a manual pump), and I actually found it was a little harder to use at the same time as I fed my bubba on my other breast, as I needed a third hand to press the "go" button once I had the pump in position over my breast.
First impressions are good.
by tree mumCombined rating
First impressions of the Avent pump is that it is a lot of the medela swing pump just a little bigger. They only provide you with a 125ml bottle which makes it harder if you are pumping more milk that you need to swap bottle over !! Big improvement from the old avent electric pump . First use went okay need to try again to get better at using it.
Satisfactory pump for the money you pay.
by mom56421Combined rating
I found I had to lean forward while expressing or the milk would drip out from the pump. Also, although my supply was great and strong let down, I could never pump much with this pump. I know the milk was there as I could hand express a lot more after finishing with the pump.
Not as easy as it looks
by NaomiCombined rating
Ok, thought I better update my review. I got the pump working! Yay! It seems that you need to make sure all the parts are pushed on very tight. Took a bit of mucking around, but I suppose now I know it should be ok going forward. Didn't express for very long as I need to re-sterilise all the parts since I have been touching it too much trying to get it working. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I can really review the pumps capabilities. Impressions so far are starting to look up. Not as easy to assemble as it first appeared, but once I got it going, it seems to be pretty effective. Very comfortable too.
Wasn't a fan at all. Ruined my milk supply!

I left my pump home on a vacation with my partners family. Luckily his sister had a breast pump. I used it for 1 whole day and it took me at least 40 mins to get 100ml when my normal pump would easily give me 250ml. By the time I started using my normal pump again all I could get was 150ml and bub was so hungry and unsettled it made me so mad. Some mums are different though and this pump may work or them but this is just my experience.
Not off to a good start
by NaomiCombined rating
The Avent electric comfort pump looks fantastic straight out of the box. Very simple instructions, although I do seem to have an extra part that I am assuming is just a spare. However, I just tried out this pump for the first time tonight and so far have been unsuccessful. I really hope that I am doing something wrong, but I have read and followed all the instructions and I am getting hardly any suction and no milk. I know the milk is there as it is leaking from my breast when I take the pump away, but nothing is going into the bottle. I am off to google this to see if I am doing something wrong. So my first impression is this is not as simple as it looks. Hopefully I will have better results tomorrow as I was really looking forward to this pump being the solution to getting more milk expressed.
This product didn't work well for me at all
by sambiiCombined rating
My Mum bought this for me as our Naughties had trouble latching on due to their tiny size and I needed the relief -- what a disaster it was for me! I don't knowing it was faulty or what, but the silicone cover part kept getting milk underneath it and it would constantly lose suction, I'd pump for an hour and only get 40ml of milk after all the effort. Tried to take it back a few days later and the retailer refused and told us we had to go to Philips. Tried that and they basically washed their hands of it so now now we have a nearly $200 useless breast pump! Would never use again and would absolutely not recommend.
Hopeless
by mom171947Combined rating
This device is a complete and utter waste of money. As a healthcare worker, I am familiar with how this device is assembled and what it is meant to do. Despite our baby breast feeding well with plentiful milk supply, we were unable to get more than 5 mls of milk from either breast under any conditions, even after 30 mins of pumping. This isn\\\'t close to enough milk for our 7kg baby. The suction is completely inadequate. Even worse is the appalling customer service and the refusal to offer a refund. The Chemist Warehouse in Sth Melb were similarly unhelpful. \\\'Have we tried using it with a photo of baby in front of us to help stimulate milk flow?\\\' was the most condescending of all suggestions. This is the worst electronic device I have ever purchased. Both Philips and Chemist Warehouse have lost us as customers for life. A $189 scam.
