We are so excited to announce the MathsOnline review!

For the MathsOnline review, we’re asking MoM Members all over Australia to trial MathsOnline with their child or children and then share their thoughts and opinions with us.

MathsOnline makes learning maths easy and simple!

As Australia’s #1 online maths tutoring program for kids of all ages, MathsOnline makes learning maths easy and simple.

Each one of the video tutorials is taught by the internationally acclaimed teacher, Pat Murray, who is renowned for teaching math concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand way (and in only a few minutes at a time).

Even students who struggled with maths are getting fantastic results! And ones who were doing OK before are now doing brilliantly.

After twenty-four years of teaching, Pat Murray had seen too many students lose the battle against maths. So, he set out to help them. What he came up with was MathsOnline. Now, Pat’s programs are in the curriculums of more than 720 schools across Australia, and MathsOnline has helped countless students rise to the top of their class.

Students can practice what they learned as the adaptive program introduces progressively harder quizzes and worksheets.

Detailed solutions show step-by-step how to solve each problem; this way, students can see their mistakes and understand what needs to happen next time. Results and progress are saved and made available for parents, so they can check-in and see how their children are doing. They also receive weekly progress reports to monitor improvement over time.

Here’s how the MathsOnline Review will work …

In the MathsOnline Review, MoM Members with school-aged children from K-12 will trial and review. MathsOnline can be used for up to 3 of your school-aged children at any given time.

STEP 1: Lucky MoM Members who have school children from K-12 selected for this review will sign up for the MathsOnline 8-week trial using a unique code supplied by us and the team at MathsOnline.

STEP 2: MoM Members and up to 3 of their children will trial and review MathsOnline for the 8 week trial period which will take us through towards the end of Term 1 2021.

STEP 3: Throughout the trial we’ll ask MoM Members on the trial team to report in with reviews and ratings.

This review is open to thousands of MoM Members and their friends but everyone must apply via this page to receive the 8 week trial code.  SHARE THIS PAGE with everyone you know who have children in K – 12 who’d like to test and review MathsOnline!

Fun way to learn!

by
5 out of 5

My 6 yr old loves Maths Online. The website is easy to use and follow and she loves that it can read things out to her if she's unsure. It takes her through the problem and solution and key points to look for which really helps her to understand and work through. She finds joy in doing maths now! I love it as I can leave her to do it on her own and get on with other things around the house! Win Win!

Gets better every time

by
5 out of 5

My twin daughters are really enjoying MathsOnline. The eldest of the twins has a hard time getting the right answers but she is determined and goes back to the video to watch so she can remember and does the questions again, the ones she got wrong and tries to get them right. She went from a 72% Bronze Certificate to a 77% Silver Certificate in whole numbers for year 4. Very impressive I think. It refreshes what you have learnt at school and teaches you new ways to understand maths. For myself as a mother I think it’s a really neat way to engage children into fun and enjoyable learning. I have already told my friends and family about MathsOnline and can’t wait for them to try it out with their kids too!

Twins throughly enjoyed it

by
5 out of 5

My twin daughters throughly enjoyed it. It took them a little while to start the program but when they did every afternoon after school they want to go back online to tutor again. They are in year 3 and one of them struggles with maths but she’s liking the fact that there is a video to teaches you and explains what to do. And you can always go back to the video if you have forgotten what to do too. I definitely recommending MathsOnline tutoring because it helps my children understand Maths more than they did before.

Maths Online Fans

We absolutely love maths online in our house. It’s so simple to navigate through and little Miss loves the sound button, so when she gets stuck reading a word, the button will read the question for her. It makes maths fun!!! So sorry for the late review. We had iPad trouble and had to wait for lockdown to finish so we could get it fixed and download Maths on Line. Super pleased we were able to try it. My kids are big fans.

Great for all learners

by
5 out of 5

My daughter was lucky enough to try the free 8 week subscription of MathsOnline. She has a good grasp of Maths but does get a little worked up with tricky maths problems. (She would get a little upset and not want to try and work it out, if it was a hard question). With MathsOnline you watch a quick few minutes tutorial that takes you through what you need to know. First they show you an easy problem and the solution, then they will show you a slightly harder one (and tell you what to look out for) and then they will show you the trickiest one showing you what you need to do and what to watch out for when solving these type of tricky maths problems . It makes it sound so easy and gives the child more confidence as they already know how to work out answers to the trickier questions. They watch the tutorial (learn how to solve the problems) then they answer the selection of questions to ensure they know how to apply what they have just learnt. I think it's great for all children (and maybe their parents, lol) as it helps them understand how to handle each type of Maths problem, especially tricky ones, for their year level. You select which year level (eg grade 1) and then you just watch the tutorial then answer the questions and then go on to the next tutorial. There is also a revision test they can do each week or so, to see if they remember what they have learnt. I would highly recommend MathsOnline for all students.

My tick of Approval

by

My kids are back at school now and it's good to revise and remember how to complete their math's work. My eldest daughter has been busy with her math's online and she finds it fun and easy to do where as my twin daughter have more of a difficult time with their math's so this will help them a lot this term. I like it how they can work at their own pace and go back to the video tutorial if they get stuck with a question. It has my tick of approval.

This is awesome for little 4 yr old. He is loving maths every day. He gets a little bored of the video before hand but loves the quiz and usually tells me the answer before I finish the question. Its super easy to start and to follow. So glad we tried this

Getting back into school

by
5 out of 5

Sorry take two, something happened which made my review post before I was finished lol. After one go with mathsonline we have a fan in the house. It’s quite simple to navigate and you can set the questions up so your child can have another try if they get it wrong the first time. You can choose which area of math you would like to start with eg, numeracy, decimals, addition etc. The function I like the most though is, if they are having trouble reading the question, there is a little speaker button which will read the question to them. It's a great resource to have for just that little extra help when they need to, or to help them catch up if they start falling behind, without it feeling like homework or a chore. It's fun for them. It also keeps track of their progress and shows you where they are having difficulties so you can focus more on that one area

MathsOnline ticks all the boxes

by
5 out of 5

We have been trialing MathsOnline the past week and have found it to be really good. The lessons are great and the video tutorials are clear. Not many programs go beyond year 6 so the fact that MathsOnline does is a very big plus in my books. My kids love maths and they are stuck learning their year level at school. MathsOnline is going to give them the freedom to continue learning above their year level and be engaged. Thank you for allowing me to participate in this review.

A great program

by
5 out of 5

My son wasn’t thrilled at doing “homework” during the school holidays but he after a few minutes said he was having fun! We tried out the program on an iPad and laptop and found it worked great on both devices. I would have liked a bit more guidance as a parent assigning lessons etc but overall I would totally recommend to family and friends.

very customisable

by
5 out of 5

I have 2 kids, one is advanced for his level and another just starting prep this year. I like how MathsOnline enables me to customise the level and types of lessons for my advanced kid. For example, he is advanced in some parts like the addition, substraction of up to thousands and beyond. But then his geometry is right on his level. Using this program, I can actually provide him with more challenges in addition, etc while allowing him to learn on the same level for Geometry. This is way better than having to "upgrade him" to the next level generally. I can also set tasks for a term by week without needing to customise too much. Which works well for my younger child. I'm so grateful for the chance to review this.

The best online maths tutorial for kids

by
5 out of 5

We’ve found the best online tutorial program for my son who is starting Year 2 next week! All thanks MathsOnline, my son has started practicing and improving on his maths skills at home everyday. I love how I can set the program based on what Australian state and year level he’s at. My son’s program includes video tutorial Year 2 lessons on Numbers and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Probability that helps him understand maths in an easy and fun way. He can pause, rewind or repeat a lesson. There are quizzes to test his learning and 8 Weekly Tasks every Term to test how well he has progressed on his weekly lessons. Highly recommended parents who have kids in Foundation to Year 12!

This programme has clear instructions and easy to set up account to sign in with email or either google accounts. It is simple to add children specially when you have multiple children.I have 2 primary school kids and 1 secondary school kid.I added them all.The best thing is parent can easy to do basic followup like set task to do,find most recent logins, number of lessons they have completed and overall grades they have achieved. Also parent can get children weekly progress reports and print out awards and certificates.Which is highly motivation them to do more. Also this programme has great option of nap plan content that is really convenient way to help kids to prepare numeracy test.I would highly recommend this Maths online programme to my friends and family. Most of all my kids enjoying using it and now they all love to do maths as a daily routine.

My 5 year old kinder kid hates Maths . I have tried the traditional pen and paper method but he just doesn't feel interested. When I got to review this , i was like ,this is my last hope! And it truly did the miracle! After logging in , I told him to follow the explanation videos and then he started doing activities. He loves the screen time, so this was like a win win situation for both of us!

Quick and easy to setup, and to add students details/ level requirements. MathsOnline is suitable for a huge range of ages (K-12) and curriculum. So much cheaper and helpful then a tutor, you don’t need to leave your house. They can study at their own pace and on their own terms. Definitely something I will keep in mind for both of my children for the future.

Easy way to do tutoring

by
5 out of 5

After a very hard schooling year during COVID, it was great to learn about a way of getting my son the extra help he needed without having to leave the comfort of home. It was easy to get him started and when he didn’t understand something he could just ask me. It enabled me to get on with household duties without having to drive him to a tutor and sit around for half an hour waiting for him to finish. He can do the lessons at his own pace and if he is too tired he can have a break unlike formal tutoring where you have to go to a set time and place. Happy to proceed with this type of tutoring to give him the extra help he needs.

Clear and short explanations

by
5 out of 5

My kindy child and I have reviewed several topics as part of the kindy MathsOnline curriculum and are happy with it so far. We have an 8 week trial to test out. Explanation of the review is accompanied by a video below. We find that the explanations of concepts are short and sharp, limited to a few minutes of time to keep the kids attention which is great. It's then followed by questions time where they make it easy for kids who can't read yet, to hear the questions by clicking a button. Entering answers is easy and quick. We're very happy with this so far and recommend it to others.

We recently trialed Maths Online and are blown away with how easy this site is to use. Tahlia (grade 5) was able to watch video tutorials aimed at her year level and check her skills with a 10 question quiz. She even rewards herself with a maths based game after each lesson to stay motivated. On the parents page, you can set goals, track progress and access reports for each student. There’s even a brains trust for the those trickier questions! I highly recommend Maths Online to anyone with school aged children.

Review maths online Hey guys! Your friendly neighbourhood mum here, this month thanks to mouth of Mums I have had the pleasure of reviewing Maths online, your online tutor with Ryleigh (7 years old in year 1) 2 days in and I must say it is so much better then I thought it would be! Ryleigh is loving watching and listening to the videos explaining the lesson and how to achieve the answer. Then answering the questions is easy to do. Ryleigh navigates this program with our supervision but totally independently. She can sort through the lessons and chose what she would like to learn. After missing a big chunk of school due to covid last year I was very excited to try this tutor to help further her learning, and I believe it’s helping her. She is excited to sit down and do some maths. I would 100% recommend this program to any parent who thinks their child is struggling or just wants some extra tutoring.

My daughter Hannah is loving the MathsOnline tutoring. Very easy to follow tutorial with great videos explaining the process to parents and students. We did a video review to Instagram, we had to have a few takes as my daughter couldn't stop laughing but eventually got there and she was brilliant. We have signed up our other 2 daughters to the MathsOnline but they haven't started yet. Hannah is in year 7 this year. Charlotte is in year 4 this year Matilda is in year 4 this year as well. This is a great opportunity for our girls to learn and understand mathematics. Definitely would recommend to family and friends.

In my house I have a mixture I have one boy who’s great at math and another boy who’s struggling. They have been trialing together. One is increasing his skills for a new year of school and the other is improving where he struggled last year and to prepare better for this year. I think it’s great the video lessons are very informative and clear, I love how they haven’t included cute little characters as they can be very distracting to kids. I look forward to continuing to use this great maths online app! Couldn’t be happier 10/10

As a pre-service teacher I found Maths Online to be great for my three kids. My youngest starts Foundation (prep) this year and she really loved it. My older two (grades 3 and 5) both love maths and they really enjoyed it. I too need to sit a maths exam later this year and have noticed that there are some NAPLAN tests on there which will be great for me also. Love the tutorials. Highly recommend Maths Online.

Making maths fun

5 out of 5

I posted an earlier review but had forgotten the video link. I love that is engaging her with something she normally doesn't particularly enjoy in a fun way and whenever she wants at her own pace. She is learning maths and computer skills at the same time which is fantastic and love being able to access it on her tablet if she wanted too. Will be reccomending maths online to a few other parents I know for sure.

by

Maths is not my daughter's favourite subject, she is a science girl, but after just one morning on this I found her engaging with the program and she has enjoyed being able to do a lesson, go away to do something else and come back to it. She has also tried to engage her younger sisters with it while she is working which has been great. Would reccomend for those who struggle to get their children to engage in mathematical learning while also learning some computer skills at the same time.

It’s a great way to get kids into maths

by
4.95 out of 5

I highly recommend MathsOnline because the videos explain the questions and how to solve the answers in a way that is straightforward and very easy for the child to understand. I also love the convenience it comes with as they can access it at anytime and anywhere. MathsOnline has saved me heaps of time and effort as it is teaching my kids maths better than I would have taught them myself. Since my kids are using their own devices to do maths, they are enjoying it, unlike doing maths with a pen and paper. They have also started challenging each other to see who will get a higher mark so not only is it beneficial for them knowledge wise but it is also encouraging them to do better and work harder. I am happy, they are happy, and I’m so grateful for having the opportunity to join MathsOnline.

by
4.95 out of 5

The MathsOnline program is something my son really enjoys doing. Each section is the right length to keep him interested and excited. I like that he can just press the button and have the question read to him which allows me to get other things done. The questions are age appropriate and there are enough challenging questions to ensure he has to work hard for his pass. My son gets very excited when he finishes a section with 100% and is very proud to receive his certificate at the end. The program takes a little bit of adjustment to get used to - mostly because it is online instead of an app, which my son has never done before. Once we got the hang of it, he really started to enjoy it. I have already seen improvements with his maths and am happy to recommend this program to others.

They layout of the lessons are good, and easy to watch videos.

Maths tutoring from the comfort of your own home. I love that I can keep tabs on my child's tutoring. I especially like the Naplan practice tests and the opportunity to watch and rewatch any clips. This is an ideal solution for people like me who have lost money from having tutoring canceled because of Covid119 restrictions. This is also beneficial for any parent studying or working from home to help them with time and travel.

by
4.95 out of 5

We were excited to trial MathsOnline and have enjoyed the learning. My daughter is starting Prep this year and what better way to start the first year of school than a little bit of maths learning on the iPad. The MathsOnline program is broken down into year levels so we have begun with the Prep level. The videos are clear and concise and grab the little ones attention in the couple of minutes. The questions are well laid out and easy to view and submit answers. My daughter enjoyed copying the voice of the tutor during the lessons and preempting what numbers were coming next. The fact that they can work at their own pace and repeat lessons and questions is a great feature. We are excited to continue to use the program while she starts school. I would highly recommend this program.

There was a large number of lessons available but you could easily filter to find the ones you needed. The video tutorials for both parents to set up and also the lessons were clear and easy to follow. This would be a program I would recommend to supplement what kids are learning at school.

Miakoby20182012 Kids space koby18 I am overall very pleased with this online tool. From the first email I received it has beende easy. It starts with a tutorial video and that walks you through step by step what needs to be done. This online tool has absolutely everything you need to know about Math and is catered for each age group. It follows the Australian curriculum so it goes hand in hand with what your child will be learning at school. The video tutorials are made simple for kids to understand. There is tests at the end to test what you know now and see what you need help on. There is the option to download a PDF/document of the lesson too. When you download the PDF it also has a talk through attached. The tests are easy to follow and you get your results at the end with the time or took. You can also print your results and they re automatically saved to the account. I am also a teacher so I have loved looking into all the age groups and content.

I am home schooling me niece and she is about two years behind in mathematics compared to her age. Trying to find out her level was difficult until I found maths online. I was able to get samples from different year levels to use to test her knowledge and find where she has missed out so I can work on catching her up. Without mathsonline I do not think I would have the chance that I do now to to make sure that she can catch up. It has the answer sheets so there is no way that the parents can mark them as correct if they are incorrect. It is a great system to use for tutoring and for homeschooling.

For my 7yo boy, the topic by topic, lesson format is easy to follow and go back to if he has problems with concepts. I even enjoy learning alongside him!

My kids have never really enjoyed maths and so need a little bit of extra help at home. Other maths at home programs we have tried have always become a chore and my kids have always put up a fight. After doing the first lesson...my daughter thanked me!! I couldn’t believe my ears!! She looked forward to using the program each day and often wanted to do extra lessons. My son liked the videos and said he finally understood some concepts that he previously hadn’t.

Arya is doing a trial of maths online thanks to Mouths of Mums for her to review and she absolutely loves it. Getting her brain back into maths mode ready for the return to school on Thursday in a fun and interactive way. It's easy to use with an introduction to each topic covered and you can select the appropriate grade level for your child. It's also self paced with lots of topics eg area and mass, measurement etc Arya says it is super fun and is flying through the quizzes getting excited by her results. Registering is super easy as well. Worth checking it out at maths online.com.au As a parent I have to say this is amazing! She's off her Ipad and doing maths.

Maths Online, Maths Easy!

by
4.9 out of 5

My son and I really enjoyed testing out Maths Online! Alex is 10 and going into Year 5. We watched a tutorial and it was so easy to follow and user friendly. Then we tried the questions and at first, I said to Alex - let’s get out some paper for workings. But the layout online was so incredibly user friendly that we didn’t need a notebook!!! The format allows for workings and carrying over numbers etc. Alex was very impressed and said he would use Maths Online to clarify mathematical concepts learnt at school and to do additional exercises to assist his learning. Win for parents, win for students!!!! And probably a win for teachers too! Huge thumb up!

After using this program for a month i can say that I am very happy about it. My son is 4.5 and trying to do some kindergarten lessons. I even surprised what it can be expect on his level-some of the things I wasn't even thinking about explaining to him as I thought its more in advance but after short narrative lesson he picked things up. What I like the most - lessons are quite short and not boring. I wish question part where more interactive especially for small kids. Overally I am very happy with this and will recommend to others

Thank you @mouths_of_mums For a chance of trying this program. MATHS ONLINE is quite easy to navigate and operate even for my 4.5yO. you can choose what level and which task to do. Lessons are short - but quite clear . After it you have few questions to check if you can do it by yourself. Kindergarten lessons are easy but not sure if he will be able to do it without any proper preparation like knowing his numbers and basic reading to do his tasks. I would prefer that to domon app rather on website as the picture is just jumping up and down when moving. Overly I am happy with this program.

I found Math Online to be a great program. It was very easy to set up for each of my 3 kids. Miss 8 found it easy to use and did mention it reminded her of IXL. Master 12 said he found it easy to use. Miss 17 was the real winner here. I was very impressed (as was she) that we could choose VCE Units 3 & 4 Further Maths. As she does extra study for Maths this will be a great tool for her to supplement her school work.

It have great videos to help students to understand and they can do it in their own time and build their confidence in maths. We did start at K level in the school holidays, it isn't boring and fun, Josh wanted to do more but we want to steady the pace for him! My son struggled with his year 7 maths last year and got a D. So to be given the chance to review Maths online is a fantastic chance to improve his grades and knowledge. The set up was super easy and simple (I did it from the comfort of my sofa). My son then simply started doing MathsOnline, he has been enjoying it and picked a variety of subjects to do. I love that I am able to select subjects for him and hide what year level it is for, when I select tasks for him to complete. The videos that are provided for each task are fantastic and if he gets stuck, he can just watch the video tutorial again. The fact that the MathsOnline can be done at home and at our own pace is a huge bonus. My son is enjoying the maths and the speed skills are his favourite. Seeing his scores are a good thing for him and he is trying to improve his score. Thanks MathsOnline and mouthsofmums for this amazing trial.

Mathsonline is very easy to learn, the teacher's voice is very clear. You can understand the words he is saying. The test is very challenging to my little one, he loves it, one of his favorite parts. He's doing his best to get the perfect score. He's happy that he is progressing and learning more knowledge. Its a great option to teach kids with Math. It's awesome, the lessons are very short and clear. And I'm happy thay he likes it and committed to do the lessons everyday. One more thing, you can do it anywhere and whenever you want. Plus, can repeat again and again until the kid understand the lesson. Thanks for the opportunity to review mathsonline.

The video is clear and simple which makes it very easy to understand and she can replay it as many times as she wants. Once she in confident about the lesson, she can try those questions easily. I like that they send a weekly report to the parents so we know how they did in those questions and what lessons they have done so far. I liked it very much and finds that it will be very useful for the kids in their learning of maths. And best of all it is all done online, the kids can do it anytime and anywhere they want. I signed up for this trial because lockdown in Melbourne last year was difficult for both my 9 and 11 year olds. With so much of the year being spent at home and home schooling, I was keen to have extra help to get the kids up to speed with their school work, particularly maths. I created accounts for both of the kids and asked them to log in and work on some modules. I expected grumbles, but they were more than happy to get started, even though we are still on holidays. The platform is very user friendly and easy to navigate. I didn't have to help too much and in fact, the kids knew how to access things better than me! After 2 days, we have a silver certificate each, which is great. Over the next few weeks, we'll continue to work through modules and see how we go. It will be the perfect way to ease them both into the school year ahead.

I was delighted to have this opportunity to review MathsOnline program with my 9-year-old son. I loved maths at school and I encourage my son all the time to persevere with new maths concepts. I think to have an online program available to either review school lessons or explore new topics is a wonderful resource. MathsOnline lessons and videos are just right - enough content to explain the topic and questions reinforce the topic. I think the flexibility in the program is great - setting pass percentages and number of revisions questions. I only have one child and therefore am unable to comment if this program suits all learning capabilities - what I seen and and read I believe this need is met. Thank you for the opportunity.

My son and I started the 8 weeks MathsOnline trialling today. We have really enjoyed the the video tutorials. They are slow and easy to follow. Questions and worksheets are easily accessible and are definitely appropriate for his level. He enjoyed working them out. At one point I spotted him grabbing a piece of paper and pencil to solve a particular question. It was really cute to watch him gain interests. I also love the fact that it follows the Australian National Curriculum. I was also delighted to find out that we could access results and reports. For one of the topics, my son scored 58% and looked a bit upset but I encouraged him to go back to the tutorial after which he understood and did really well.It\\\'s really simple to follow and the questions are great. I look forward to going through the different topics for the rest of the trial period. Thank you for the opportunity.

Fantastic Maths program

by
4.7 out of 5

Mathsonline is such a great program. I was really impressed with the fact that you could adjust the attempts that your child could do before being given the answer. This is so important as a lot of programs just allow the answers to be shown and the student finds it easy if they make a mistake because they know they will just get the answer given to them. Not allowing it on the first attempt gets them to rethink what they have done. I was really excited to be trialling this for my son who needs a little extra help with maths. So far I am really impressed with the program and how it has the year levels, seperate math categories and diagnostic tests. This program is also linked to the curriculum so it works alongside what they are doing at school. The videos are concise and easy to understand. The video is done at a pace in which children are able to get the information without feeling Overwhelmed. I look forward to seeing how my son progresses over the next few weeks. A positive program with potential for use not only in the home but in schools as well!

We were lucky enough to be selected by @mouths_of_mums to trial @mathsonline’s online maths tutoring program, so here is my review! ???? I’ve included a walkthrough in the video on my Insta page (@bargain.boss) on how the program works. The program can be used by students from Prep through to Year 12, and includes content for General, Further and Maths Methods subjects. It also has additional content and games, to keep the kids having fun and engaged. Overall, I’m happy with the program - my daughter has used it a few times so far and has enjoyed it, and I am hoping this continues. I can definitely see it complimenting her in school learning this year. I like how the lessons explain and break down the question, and then clearly show how to get to the answer. I would recommend the program, especially as they have a 2 week free trial.

4.6 out of 5

Starting homeschooling this year for my 5 year old is very nerve wracking. She has some learning and developmental issues, but Maths Online was straight forward and easy for her to follow. I will say though, while she could follow it, with only mild guidance from me, I think this would be suited more to older children or in general children who are happy with worksheets (definitely not my child). For younger children it is a bit dry(boring) and would benefit if it was a bit more fun. I would view this as more testing of knowledge rather than teaching at this stage. Each lesson/task is just repetitive of the exact same questions, good for memorization, not so much learning. Setting up the lessons/tasks was easy, and again for older children would be beneficial so they know when they need to complete said tasks by. I do like the email with finished task report, easy to keep track of progress and document for homeschooling. I will keep this in mind for the future, but for a 5 year old it isn't helping develop their skills and testing of knowledge in early years is easier to assess without this program.

I really loved the simplicity of this program - it was really easy to follow and I loved the time we spent together each evening completing the modules. I personally hate maths and find it really boring (I know I shouldn't say it, but it's true!), so I loved that this program made it easy for both of us. As he's young and still learning to read, the speaker button is a great function, and he really enjoys the quizzes.... it feels like a game to him. As a bonus, as it's on a screen, it's counted as his daily 'screen time', so it's win win and I don't feel guilty when I leave him on it to tend his baby sister and dinner.

Both my children use Maths Online for school and find it helpful in explaining concepts and areas in which they need more practice. The website is clear and easy to navigate. The video tutorials and lessons are simple and easy to follow and the practice questions at the end gave them a chance to put their knowledge to the test although some of the examples covered and supplied are quite basic and the website only covers the very basic parts of some topics. most of the questions that appear in tests are a lot harder than the websites tutorials there fore it shouldn\'t be the only website to look at when studying.

I was really happy with the short lessons. My kids are quite young and won't sit still for long so this was great. I was also surprised to get a weekly report. This would be really handy if you have older kids who can access the program without parent assistance. Not as applicable for my kids as they need parental help to use the program. I was initially impressed that there was a few games to play, along with the diagnostic tests but that soured quite quickly as by stage 3 the program was too quick for even me to navigate and our game quickly ended. Overall I think it is a good program and easy to follow.

A Useful Way to Practise Maths Skills

by
4.4 out of 5

I liked this tool - it's not game based but there's plenty of incentive for children to complete activities with various certificates and parents get regular reports of activity. I liked that it was very clearly set out - so you know exactly what is being worked on. One thing is that it's not adaptive, so your child won't get easier or harder problems as required. However, you do have access to all year levels, so you can go backwards to review material or move forward. The videos were short and to the point, which is great as there's no problem with paying attention ...

My son is currently studying extension maths in the HSC. This is excellent as a tool to review what he is doing in class by completing the worksheets and then having the videos as well as the answers to explain when he goes wrong. I am impressed that they cover his level as many programs opt to finish at the younger years and lower levels. So happy to find something that helps him revise that’s interactive. Thanks Maths Online!

My son liked the videos but said games are hard to find

by

Maths online us a good program for motivated students. My son wasn't as interested in it as he is in other maths programs but did say the videos gave good explanations. He also said there weren't enough games and that the games were hidden. So for less engaged students the program might not work but other children would benefit greatly from the program.

Learn at own pace

by

I love that the videos are available and my child is able to go back and forward to make sure she understands the lesson at her own pace. After each video there are questions to test which will make sure that the child has understood the lesson. This gives me the confidence that my kid is learning and able to answer the questions on her own. I am so happy to have found mathsonline. I would recommend it to anyone who needs some help with maths.

Easy to navigate, work at own pace. Builds confidence.

I have used other online methods for my ten year old and she never really took to the program and thought it was added homework at the end of her school day. The difference with maths online is it is a great tool to use for when you need to revise certain sites or forget how to work out an equation or formula. It is simple to navigate and overall very useful for my Yr.11 daughter currently studying Advanced Maths. My Yr.5 is no longer hesitant about jumping inline and maths online helps support her weaknesses.

Great program for school aged children

by
4.25 out of 5

We give our children the iPad as a reward so being an educational program, MathsOnline not only teaches different number concepts it also allows parents to track their child’s progress. I love how it’s a positive learning experience for my child and asks for more every time!

Easy, simple and it involves the screen!

We had an 8 week trial of this, and I managed to convince my 6 year old (in Grade 2 this year) to do some Maths over this long weekend. What got her over the line was that she was allowed to have some screen time. The sign up process was easy, the videos were short and simple, and very easy to follow, even for the little ones. They have lovely illustrations and the voice is very clear and calming. There are test questions (about 10) after each lesson/topic. We got a weekly report, but you can see the report anytime on your Results screen. I have just started using this and it seems quite good.. Will definitely continue for the next 7 weeks and I am hoping to see some improvement (and interest) in my daughters Maths skills.

I am using this for both my children who are at different levels of schooling. It’s easy to use and navigate your way through the programs. It’s set out in an easy format so the kids can use it themselves. I would highly recommend Maths Online for others to try.

I would say that I would not have attempted this program at all. I have been struggling finding tutors for my kids. This totally adds up. I set it up with the super easy guide. You would never have had me thinking that my kids would enjoy Math until I came across this chance to review this fantastic program. Would highly recommend this to anyone that struggles with child and math - it totally adds up with subtracting money from your pocket.

Great site for kids to learn maths

by
4.2 out of 5

I love the way mathsonline add the video explaination , which gives boosts to kids to understand properly and then solve the questions . Also being a parent I sit on site and watching him from far to learning his lesson and doing it all by himself , only some time I will go and explain. It’s an awesome maths site for Kids which is following Australian curriculum.????

We’ve really enjoyed using MathsOnline. I have three children all with different abilities and learning styles and although one is reluctant to do anything resembling school work , the simple format means he can do a little at a time which suits him. My youngest feels very grownup usin* the same program as his brothers. I like the why parents can set tasks and get the email updates. We homeschool and are finding it a valuable tool in our online lessons kit ????

Learn maths at my own pace

by
4.1 out of 5

I love that this program follows the vic curriculum which means that my child is able to learn what the teacher at school is teaching. She can easily go back to the lessons she is struggling on without having to ask someone about it. The questions are very good too as this can confirm their understanding of each lesson and i have more confidence that my child is actually learning at her own pace.

So far maths online has been super easy to setup and follow instructions to tailor it for all my children at different stages. They seem to be keen so far to get some screen time and learn at the same time. I love how you can change levels to suit them and their abilities. We will keep it up and see how we go and review again.

We incorporated this into computer time. The kids enjoyed it. One program for the two different year levels in our house. My youngest struggles with maths and I'm looking forward to sitting with her to work through this program and seeing what benefit she will get from it. Well explained tutorials. We look forward to trialing it some more.

Maths tutor online

by
3.9 out of 5

Overall I think this is a great product. It is aligned to the curriculum and what students are learning in each year level. The teaching videos are clear and concise and are not lengthy and therefore the children don’t get bored. I think it would be good to have a pre-placement test which set up a sequence of lessons for the kids to work through at their point of need. It was great that feedback was immediate for the children and they were able to learn the concept from their mistakes.

Simple and easy to set up and log in. The kids can study at their own pace and at a time that suits my schedule, very convenient. The curriculum covers topics the kids are doing at school and they seem to enjoy doing the tests without much protest! Courses are short enough to keep them motivated but not tool long to get bored.

I’m a mum and school teacher and I am familiar with a lot of online learning products on the market. It’s nice to see a new product like maths online in the arena! Although it’s not as attractive as some other maths platforms, I believe it makes it up in content. It’s user friendly and easy to select areas you would like your child to focus on. The content is solid and not aimed too low like some others in the market. Thanks for letting me try this out Maths online and MoM!

Complicated at first

I wrote a review weeks ago when we received access to the Maths Platform. I was excited for my daughter who is only 7 years old. At first, and that’s why my first review isn’t so great, i found it confusing to use, too many different sections, overwhelming almost. After now 6 weeks, we totally love it. My daughter now can use this program on her own without me sitting next to her all the time. She works independently which is such a huge thing at this age. They like to be control and have a feeling of accomplishment. So, I have come to the conclusion that this program is suitable for learners that need a little help or even just to polish of their skills. It takes a while to get the hang of this program but after a while it becomes more user friendly. Thank you for the opportunity to try this program. My child is always happy to practice her Maths now, especially because its on the Laptop and not on paper.

Great platform for learning

by
3.65 out of 5

I have 2 school aged students, both of which have two very different learning capabilities. My youngest whom is in primary school has learning difficulties and Maths Online was able to cater to her needs by reading out the questions and answer options so she could have a good chance of getting the answers she knew. My older daughter, in high school was able to work on concepts she is currently learning about at school and further develop her knowledge and understanding in those concepts. She was able to go through and get a better understanding of some concepts she was not able to completely understand last year. During COVID, she was not able to go into school and had to learn from home without the support she would have received by going into school, so she was able to go back and get lessons on those topics and get a clear understanding of what is required and how she can improve for next time she learns those concepts.

Simple maths guide

by
3.6 out of 5

We were given exactly a week before we had to post our review for a 8 week trial and felt abit rush to get it started. It was last week of school holidays, but luckily my son love maths so he's keen to start. He was abit lost with what to do cause there was no clear instructions where and which ones to do in the site. He just picked random lessons for his coming year level. But after doing a little everyday, we were not given any progress report until after 1 week (on the last day we were suppose to post a review about it). We realised there was diagnostic test and other stuff that he missed out and needed to be done. At the moment, my son is just confused if there's an order to how he can go about learning in some kind of order, or does he have to do some kind of test to determine what he's weak at and proceed with lessons etc. There's no guide nor someone he can ask. As a working parent, I don't have time to guide him all the time and feels that there are better websites out there (and some of them free too) that he can still learn the same maths. I have slight expectation that a paid website should have clearer instructions and guide on how a child can approach their weak points or learn something in a guided form, and not just churn a basic form on how many lessons he's done with just a score and award that doesn't really reflect how the child has perform.

Son enjoyed it

by
3.45 out of 5

Maths seems to be a passion of my sons he really enjoys numbers so this was great for him. It kept him engaged and didn’t seem to struggle with being challenged with some questions. It would have been great to trial for a longer time as I feel as though we didn’t get to use the program to its full potential. It is definitely something I will keep in mind for both my children for the future though.

Lacks the 'pizzazz' of some Maths resources - bones are great, needs more 'heart' to engage!

by
3 out of 5

We had a pretty thorough click around Maths Online and, to be honest, it wasn't particularly engaging. The content itself was very thorough and aligned with the Australian Curriculum... but it just lacked any element of 'fun', which is really important when trying to engage a VERY reluctant Maths learner! It was fine, but I wouldn't rate it when compared with some of the wonderful stuff out there such as MangaHigh and Study Ladder. Overall, it isn't something we would pursue beyond the trial I'm afraid!

Practically sound but not fun.

Trialled by a seven and 10 year old. Positives – the questions are pitched at the right level of difficulty, the lessons length can be modified to reflect the number of questions and attempts allowed, my seven year old could access the grade above to continue to be challenged, the videos were useful. Negatives – my children prefer the school used app Mathletics. They prefer Mathletics because it is colourful and fun. Mathletics contains an avatar that can be altered when the child has spent a certain amount of time on the app. My husband, who tutored maths in his youth, thinks that Maths Online is an excellent tool for home work and extra tutoring.

Good coverage but needs improvement

by
2.6 out of 5

I like how they covered quite a few areas in learning. Only have a few concerns and once these are fixed this will be a more pleasant resource for kids math learning. - it Doesn’t automatically go to next question after submitting answer. - there’s No option to read out for pre primary kids who can’t read hence making it mandatory for parents to sit in - some Questions are not clear with no instructions again parents involvement required and some guessing in order to answer the questions.

My son is starting PP this year, and I could find much interesting material on there for him. It’s set out well but I wouldn’t say it makes maths interesting. I think it would be more suitable in a few years time for him. His favourite parts were getting certificates. It’s okay but I probably wouldn’t continue.

I didn't really enjoy this for my kids, we have done online tutoring before where it works out what level and what they are missing. This just seems to be year level based and not harder or easier if needed. Not sure if I'm missing something. But wasn't impressed

Not as straight forward as I wish it was

by
2 out of 5

Mathsonline is a good program once you understand the website, links and different stages. It took us a good while to find out where to do maths practise exercise rather than watch the videos that explain maths problems. The videos were boring for my child and not entertains. My child lost interest really fast. The exercise itself was better but as a parent I had to sit next to my child constantly as she wouldn’t be able to read the problems always on her own. It’s an app suitable for the older children but not necessarily for year 1/2. I’m grateful to have tried it but it’s too expensive to suggest this to anyone as it is complicated to navigate

bad techniques.

by
1.1 out of 5

this app made my child get very mad at it. one of the reasons is because when you get one question wrong, it just tells you the answer, not how to work it out. it also takes a large amount of your score away even if you have gotten 100% so far. this has made my child very stressed and upset. it also makes my son's friend kind of mad because it gives him the hardest questions, but he misses one small detail and he's lost at least 15% off his score. very unhappy with this program.
