Love, love, love it!

I have had my Fisher and Paykel Washsmart for nearly a year and I love love, love it! Being able to add a garment in the wash cycle is great. It washes better than my last machine and spins them dryer as well. My clothes definitely look and feel cleaner! The size is great for our family of 4 and it fits my king size sheets in no worries, never have a backlog of washing because I can do big loads. Time delay is awesome means i can set it to Finnish by the time we get out of bed :) great multitasking lol sleeping and getting the washing done! I have also used the 10min time delay even tho I originally thought I would not need to, I put the clothes in with the 10min time delay and go for a shower, I don't need to remember to go start the machine, I can just keep on getting ready. Have used the 15min wash a couple of times, is great to get you out of a jam :) it's also easy enough for my husband and two teenage boys to use :) another bonus! I am so glad we made the right choice this time as our last one I didn't like at all, but this one I love!
Perfect for those extra special items
by someonesmotherCombined rating
I am fortunate enough to have an extremely talented mother who has dedicated an enormous amount of her time into knitting, crocheting and sewing garments out of very delicate fabrics for my four little ones. As well as a wonderful mother in law, who as a well experienced professional dressmaker, creates the most beautiful princess dresses for my little girl which are so unbelievably detailed that they look incredibly like the dresses seen in Disney movies. The countless amount of hours, not to mention the painstaking work involved when dealing with such intricate detail only add to the beauty and sentiment of each piece. To ensure the greatest care is taken when washing these particular items I usually hand wash them myself. Often a very time consuming task, albeit worth it for peace of mind knowing that the garment will not be ruined in the wash. After over five years of hand washing, I no longer have to wash these items myself. The 'hand wash' cycle on the Fisher and Paykel WashSmart Front Loader actually is gentle enough to wash these garments with the highest amount of care. I am so relieved and incredibly pleased to be able to use the 'hand wash' cycle with the confidence that not only will the machine be gentle with the items, but actually get them thoroughly clean at the same time. Yet another huge time saving feature for me, as well as absolute peace of mind.
Sometimes it's just the little things that make a big difference
by someonesmotherCombined rating
With the wet weather which we have been experiencing over the last few days I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to run a drum clean as well as empty the filter. Both of which were well overdue. I know that they aren't terribly exciting features of any Front Loader, but I thought it was important to mention the incredible ease at which both operations can be performed. It's just nice to know that both necessary functions which should be performed on a regular basis can be done without any complexity. Both are very straight forward, and I feel that due to this added ease of operation it isn't something that one would dread having to do. Sometimes it truly is just the little things in life that make a big difference. I can see that Fisher and Paykel have put a great deal of thought into every aspect of this amazing front loader.
Wet weather is no longer a bother
by someonesmotherCombined rating
Up until now I have been able to dry my families' clothes successfully on two lines of rope tied in our backyard. After starting the Fisher & Paykel WashSmart Front Loader Review I had to add another line of rope to be able to meet the amount of clothing which I am able to wash in the space of a day. It is safe to say that we are going to need to invest in a clothes hoist as soon as possible as I am finding new ways to get the most out of my Front Loader. For example, using the time delay feature I am able to set the machine of an afternoon at around 6pm for it to start at 6am the following day (the time delay feature goes up to 12hours). Throughout the evening if I do come across anymore items of clothing which needs to be placed into that wash, I can still do so thanks to the 'pause' feature. This means that I am able to set and forget the front loader and in the morning I have a load of washing to hang. Even greater, by using the 'wrinkle free' option, even if on a Sunday we happen to sleep in, the WashSmart has such innovative technology that it will continue to cycle the clothes every 15minutes so as to keep the clothes free of wrinkles. It just feels wonderful to be ahead of at least one duty around the home and it truly does give you so much more time in your day. With the cold and rainy weather we have been having recently it has really made me realise how much I can get done during clear weather. Of course I still wash clothes on cold and rainy days, as a family of six I need to. It's much smaller loads though as our clothes airer can't hold too large of a load, and by spinning the clothes at 1400rpm the clothes dry perfectly indoors, and much faster than they would usually if not using such a high spin speed. One thing that used to really be a bother during wet weather was the time it would take to dry necessary items of clothing indoors- without them taking so long to dry that they retain a damp odour. I love that this is no longer a concern for me and I am just so grateful for being given the opportunity to review this amazing Fisher & Paykel WashSmart Front Loader.
Post holiday washing no longer a nightmare
by downunderCombined rating
Home from holidays and everything felt damp and humid so I emptied 3 suitcases and sorted them. I quickly had the girls pink and purple stuff on for washing. Grubby, wet and stinky kids clothes that hadn't been washed in a machine for 2 weeks. I chose the everyday cycle but put the temp up and the soil level. Pleased to say those clothes look and smell great again. I then put on a load for timer so that this morning I could wake up to another load ready to be hung out. I've only been home for less than 24 hours but all the washing is done!! 6 loads!! I absolutely love the add a garment as I regularly find something in the wrong pile or dropped on the way. This is such an easy machine to use with so many variables I feel my clothes are always clean and gentle even on an everyday cycle for clothes I previously would choose delicate. Here is a photo of part of the washing I have been working my way through.
15 mins quick cycle a saviour
by downunderCombined rating
Before we went on a recent holiday I had occasion to use the 15 min cycle. The kids sleeping toys seemed a bit grubby and I only realized the morning we were leaving. I had a few other bits so threw them in for a 15 min cycle. I didn't have much time til we had to leave and needed to get them dry too!! I couldn't believe it when the little white bunny was actually clean. And he smelled really good. We managed to get the sleeping toys cleaned and dried and packed by the time we were leaving! Thanks F&P for my new favourite function.
I now have so much more time in my day!
by someonesmotherCombined rating
Since starting my Fisher and Paykel WashSmart Front Loader review one of the best things it has brought into my life is time. I am noticing that I feel less overwhelmed by the amount of work that there is to get through in a day simply because I have more time on my hands. Firstly, with the ability to run a "SuperQuick" wash I am able to get a quick lightly soiled load washed and ready to hang in roughly fifteen minutes. It's perfect for things like pyjamas, you can throw them in at breakfast and have them washed, hung and dry by dinner. Although it is such an extremely fast wash, the clothes do come out perfectly fresh, clean and in excellent condition. The extra speed does not adversely affect the garments in any way, it is still gentle on all fabrics. Even if it isn't the warmest of days, because of the 1400rpm the clothes leave the front loader incredibly spun and dry extremely fast, which again is another time saver. * it takes less time to wash the clothes * it takes less time to dry the clothes * it actually gives you more time in your day I am not really a very organised person, and I often forget to do certain things even if it is a task I perform so regularly that it should simply be routine. For example, my husbands weekend shirts. There have been countless times where Friday will come along and I will hear my husband ask me "Rochelle do you know where my weekend shirts are?" Of course I know where they are! They are right there in the dirty clothes basket... But of course I don't actually admit to the exact location. Now there isn't really a worry. Even if I leave it until Friday afternoon I can still have them washed and air dried indoors in under eight hours. Whilst on the topic of forgetting things, I simply cannot praise the 'add a garment' feature enough. It is truly wonderful! Of course I am going to forget items. Even if I don't forget an item someone is guaranteed to spill something on themselves whilst a wash is running and I am able to pop it straight into that wash without having to leave it until he next one. I love the amount of extra time this experience has given me and I am truly grateful to everyone at Mouths of Mums and Fisher and Paykel for giving me this life changing opportunity.

True to their word

"You know that washing mashing you are reviewing Rochelle? Well there is NOTHING like it on the market. It has a one of a kind motor and something like 30 patients pending..." My husband is a man of few words. So when he came home from work and informed me about how amazing he thought the Fisher and Paykel WashSmart Front Loader is I was really very surprised. I was impressed that he had taken the time to do his own research on the machine. He has always been enthusiastic about motors. If something has a motor he always tends to do research on how good the motor is. After all the motor is what drives the device so I guess if it's as amazing as the rest of the product features then you know you are getting an exceptional machine. I believe that in life all you really have to go by is your word, in the case of companies occasionally they over commit on their product features or become over enthusiastic about slight advancements. This is definitely not the case with the Fisher and Paykel WashSmart front loader. When they say that their "WashSmart Front Loader utilises their SmartDrive technology to eliminate the belt drive, delivering the ultimate clothes care. Using their direct drive motor this washer is whisper quiet. A revolutionary Vortex wash gets clothes cleaner faster." They actually mean it. The clothes are definitely washed faster, but they are also cleaned much better with this new technology. In fact I tested this out by not using stain remover spray on my husbands business shirts simply to see what results I would get. The WashSmart definitely delivered. I was just so impressed that I showed my dad what an amazing difference there is. I have been using the Fisher and Paykel WashSmart for two weeks now and I can say with great confidence that the WashSmart delivers the results that Fisher and Paykel describes. In fact it has truly exceeded my expectations and is an absolutely wonderful appliance. Not a great deal of devices impress my husband or my father in the way that the Fisher and Paykel WashSmart has. It is simply technology at its best.
Loving it!

Did my video review on Thursday and then did 4 loads of washing! What a machine! Quick cycle for the gym gear and it still came out smelling great! I also tried a handwash cycle and it too was great. Gentle yet the slight stain from the kids came off my brand new cotton/cashmere top! And that add a garment function is almost a regular. If only I could remember to check all the spots for dropped clothes I wouldn't need it. I got rid of the old clunker this weekend as I just know this machine is really perfect for our family. Thanks Fisher and Paykel and Mouths of Mims for letting me review this machine. I will try hubbies shirts next. The last machine made such a tangled mess of them I started taking the shirts to the laundromat... let's see what this one can do.
True Customer 'Care'
by someonesmotherCombined rating
Today I called Fisher and Paykel customer care, not because I had a problem with the WashSmart Front Loader, but because I wanted to see first hand what their customer service was like. As I braced myself for the one thousand and one prompts and buttons I would need to press to eventually reach the desired department and listen to the calm tone of an automated systems voice telling me that "my call is important, thank you for waiting" I was both shocked as well as thrilled to only need to key in one prompt before I was instantly transferred to a REAL PERSON. I love talking to a real person, especially when looking for help or advice and especially if things are not functioning the way one would like them to. At Fisher and Paykel they provide their customers with 24hr customer care staffed by real people seven days a week. Lynette was the name of the consultant that I spoke to today and she was absolutely lovely. She explained that Fisher and Paykel provide their staff with a 'consult panel' which is virtually the control panel which they can plug into their system and actually operate the display with you so that they have a clear understanding of how to help their customers. They have individual control panels for each and every different appliance that Fisher and Paykel produce. Fisher and Paykel believe that their staff are the face of their company and as such they have employed the best, most helpful, dedicated and above all empathetic staff they could possibly find. Lynette was truly wonderful to speak to and she offered me excellent service. Personally I feel that after care service is almost as important as the product itself. One wants to feel confidant that even after the initial purchase that they will still be looked after, and if you are looking for a company with brilliant after sales service then Fisher and Paykel are definitely a company which provide excellent care for their customers. Perfect Display
by someonesmotherCombined rating
7th of May, 2014 My Fisher & Paykel WashSmart Front Loader arrived today and was completely installed with care by two wonderful gentlemen from Fisher & Paykel by 2:45pm. By 3pm I had complete confidence in operating this incredibly innovative machine. Have you ever purchased a large electrical appliance based on its wonderful features, only to have one look at the instruction manual and feel completely overwhelmed? That is definitely not the case with this amazing machine. One could potentially operate this fantastic front loader without even having to consult the manual as the display and layout is designed to be totally user friendly. Looking at it I would say that the display has been designed in a way to include all age groups and ensure ease of use and understanding of the controls for both young and old. It just struck me as yet another key feature of this futuristic machine. Just having the support of a manual which is easily understandable is wonderful to me. It means that you get the most out of it by getting to know all of the features and you aren't left using one basic function for the entire life of the machine. I was so excited today when it arrived, and I just wanted to share this first bit of information as I know it is only the first day and there are going to be so many different areas to cover I didn't want to forget to mention the basics, which often are the most important. Thank you so very much to everyone at Mouths of Mums and of course Fisher & Paykel for giving me an opportunity so exciting that I actually had to sit down when I first found out that I had been lucky enough to be selected.
Thanks to all the reviews!

My 17 year old washing machine blew up recently. So after a quick look around and comparisons, I whittled the list of possible machines down to a few. Then I saw that the Fisher Paykel Washsmart 8.5kg front loader was the machine that was reviewed here on Mouths of Mums. It shot to the top of my list based on the fantastic reviews by the testers, and the willingness of Fisher Paykel to put their machine out there for such market testing. We were able to go and pick up the machine from Harvey Norman, installation was a breeze (and my husband likes to think that he is handy - usually not so! ), and it is a great washer! So quiet, lots of setting options, and all that I needed in a machine.
Love Fisher & Paykel

I've tried the Simpson machines and after converting to Fisher & Paykel I couldn't be happier. With advanced functionality, easy to use display and controls, and many features that are just perfect for my little family's clothes. It's a brand I trust to last the distance and I have yet to find a fault with the machine. Very happy and wish I converted earlier!
I love it!!

So it's been a couple of months now and I have only fallen more and more in love with this machine. 2 weeks ago a vomiting bug went through our household - myself and 3 out of 4 kids. The 2-year-old in particular went through almost my entire linen closet of sheets and towels in one night! And the next day, the good old Washsmart lived up to all expectations, and I managed to clean the whole lot in one day! I counted 9 loads in the end, including 2 doonas, 2 pillows, several stuffed animals, mattress protectors, sheets, towels, pyjamas, you name it, I washed it!! So yes, overall I have been nothing but impressed every step of the way so far with this washing machine. Being a large family of six, we are never short of things to wash, and the Fisher Paykel Washsmart does it all. It is quiet enough to run overnight, quick enough to do a load before school, and I feel like I am doing my bit for the environment by using such a highly star-rated appliance.
Features to Impress
by debmcgCombined rating
Okay I have been testing the WashSmart for over one week now. I have certainly put it through its paces. I thought I would share my favourite cycles thus far (some I may have already covered in earlier reviews but they are so good I need to repeat them). 1. Add a garment. Since testing this feature, I find myself using it nearly every wash. It definitely is a selling feature of this machine. I love it. 2. Handwash - loving the fact that I no longer have to visit the dry cleaner. I am using this cycle for my delicate items including the 'dry clean only' work pants and jackets. So far so good. It is so gentle on the clothes that I can hang them straight up in the cupboard (after they are dry of course) without ironing them. Whaoh hooh! 3. Quick wash - 30 min cycle. Great when you are in a rush and us busy mums are always in a rush. The clothes still come out clean which is the end result we all want. 4. Delay start - this is perfect as I can load the machine the night before and have the clothes washed and ready to hang out in the morning before I leave for work. I don't like the clothes sitting in the machine wet for hours on end. This feature is a definite bonus!! I do use the everyday cycle regularly - a 59min wash. The cycles (well at least the ones I have tested) automatically select the recommended water temps and spin speed. I love the fact you can override these. Must say I am a fan of a cold wash. There are features on this machine that I may never use like allergy and cottons. The WashSmart is perfect for my family. It's water & energy star rating is fantastic. I have been told that I should see a reduction in my water usage on my next bill. Fingers crossed!! A super big thanks to MoM for giving me the opportunity to test this amazing machine. Washing has become a a little fun now and no longer a major chore...let's hope that feeling continues....
A Handwash without getting my hands wet!!!
by debmcgCombined rating
This has been an exciting week in the washing department. Who would have thought washing would become a fun chore. I am beginning to look for things to wash so I can test the many different cycles the WashSmart has to offer. Today's option - the Handwash cycle. Now my old top loader did have this option but I rarely used it because of the agitator. I found that even though it was meant to be a gentle wash it was still quite rough on the clothes. My 'Handwash' items used to sit in the bottom of my dirty clothes basket for a long time. I was not a fan of hand washing. I used to get my work pants and skirts dry cleaned to save me having to handwash. Needless to say I was a tad excited when the WashSmart had a Handwash cycle option. Today I put it to test. I added my work pants and woollen knitwear. The handwash is a 45min cycle with a default water temp of 30 degrees and a 500 spin speed. I love the fact that you could adjust the water temp - I selected a cold wash. The machine was quiet and I must say extremely gentle on the clothes. My knitwear was still in shape when I pulled them out of the machine and my work pants, well they won't need ironing . They came out wet but not creased at all. A definite bonus. Nearly to good to be true. I'm loving this machine. Stay tuned for the next test..I'm thinking the 'Easy Iron' wash cycle for hubby's work shirts.
wow havent times changed.

My daughter in law has one of these with the new front loaders doing the washing and drying all in one. It was on my christmas list but i did not get one. Maybe next year. Love the child lock on the front door too. Little fingers cant open them. Also compact and saves space in the laundry.
No more dry cleaning!

So my 2yo decided to have a toiling "accident" on my 6yo's bed on Monday night. I'm talking bedspread, quilt cover and wool-filled dry-clean only quilt! I was torn between the despondency of yet another accident, having to find alternative bedding for my daughter, and the secret excitement when I realised that I could now try out the "hand wash" setting on my new machine. The manual claims that this setting is suitable for items labelled as dry-clean only or hand-wash only, so I was keen to give it a whirl. And the quilt came up beautiful. The wash was gentle enough so as to cause minimal disruption to the placement of the wool - no lumps and bumps! Another "win" for me and my WashSmart :)
"Add a Garment" best feature ever!!

Tuesday morning and the washing basket is overflowing again. I am sure the basket was nearly empty yesterday. One day back at school and there are school uniforms, sports uniforms, work clothes, socks, socks and more socks. 5 people, 2 feet each should equate to 10 right? Apparently not in our household. I counted 7 socks (not pairs) for just one of my kids. And this is apparently only one day's worth??? Mmm. He is blaming the dog for a missing sock..He assures me that there are no socks or dirty clothes lying in his bedroom. No time to double check so the machine goes on. 5 minutes later my son appears with not only the missing sock but also a soccer jersey. Aargh!!! Luckily I have this new super dooper machine with an "add a garment" feature. Time to test it out. Pressed the button. Machine stopped. Door opened. Sock and jersey added. Closed door. Pressed start again and the machine recommended its wash cycle. Too easy!!! This is awesome additional feature for a front loader. Love it!! It's the simple things that keeps us busy mum's happy.
Best ever !!

A good first impression
by rinso8Combined rating
So after a bit of confusion with delivery, I was stoked to receive this washing machine yesterday afternoon. My husband was put to work installing it after dinner whilst I read the user guide cover to cover and I was able to put it to the test at last! First impressions: *super quiet!! My husband queried whether it was actually working or not! A vast difference to our previous washer which sounded like a rocket about to take off every time it reached the spin cycle! *so many options. At first, reading the manual, I was a little overwhelmed at the choice and wondered how easy it would be to work out which cycle/options to choose. But once I'd loaded the machine and turned it on, it's a very simple step-by-step process. The only option I changed was the water temp (I'm used to washing in cold water) *a great clean! My first load I made a simple Quick (30min) cycle of that day's clothes. I was a little skeptical as to how effective such a quick wash would be, but they came out perfect. Since then, I have done a load of towels and a second load of clothes, experimenting a little with the settings. So far I cannot fault it. So overall, my first impression is that this machine is a quiet, efficient, user-friendly washer

After reading MoM reviews I decided on purchasing the fisher & pay keel washsmart front loader..... Best decision ever made. I have never owned a front loader before and was so used to adding in that forgotten sock into my old top loader but with the add a garment feature on the washsmart it is never a problem. I also love how quiet this machine is, luckily it beeps when the cycle has finished so I know it's done. One of the other main features that I love is the cycle count down, I can easily sees how long is left for the wash cycle so I know weather to wait the 2 mins to hang it out before leaving the house. I would definitely recommend this washer to others looking at purchasing a new machine. I had decided I wanted to go with a front loader this time so that I could add cupboards and bench top to my laundry to allow for extra space for folding clothes etc and this washer as been the perfect fit for our laundry and family!
I'm convinced

So I listed my old top loader on Gumtree today. I guess that means I'm officially converted to the fisher & Paykel wash smart front loader! I spent my queens birthday public holiday catching up on washing. I washed and hung out 3 full loads. And then it started raining! I thought to myself "I'll just leave it a bit, looks like it might just be a passing shower". 3 hours of torrential down pouring later and I discovered the spin cycle program on the washing machine! Now I just have to finish it all off on the dryer and pray that the school uniforms will be ready for the morning!! Apart from today's episode, I am slowly discovering all of this machine's sneaky tricks! It's great. I have my cabinet makers coming this week to finish fitting out my new laundry. I hope to get a work bench fitted over the top of my new machine and existing dryer. Will post a picture when it's all pretty and complete!
First wash - so far so good

First load of wash was straight on right after installation. It was a mixed load of kids clothes (grubby from daycare) and swimmers that were wet and chlorine smelling. I chose a quick 30 min cycle to see how it would clean the kids stuff on a quick cycle. Turned on walked away and then noticed a sock I had dropped … well there was my chance to use the "add a garment" function. Wonderful. I was able to add my sock and then start it back up. No issues. I went in and out a few times to watch the wash and listen to the machine. It was mostly quiet. The only time I found the machine a bit noisy was when the water was draining out. Seemed quite loud. As for cleanliness - yup 30 mins managed to get the swimmers smelling clean and the rest of the stuff wasn't grubby any more! 30 min cycle seems to do the job!
Really quiet, easy to use. even an 11yr old can use!!

Happy Mother's Day Mum. This is the first time I have used a washing machine. Mum asked me to tidy my room (it was a real mess). I decided to wash my sheets. I think my mum is still in shock. I loved using the selection knob. It was fun. This machine is soo much cooler than our old one. It was very easy to use and is extremely quiet. I'm having fun watching the clothes go around. Even my little brother will be able to get the clothes out. One suggestion from me...I think the selection knob should be able to be pressed in so that it doesn't stick out. Mum back to you for more washing! Love Courtneyxx

I am in australia with my daughter and top loading machines are a fairly new thing to me. I love them for the big loads they take, I wish I had had one when my son had a problem with bed wetting. My top loader does do a short wash, but not a short as 15 mins, but I guess it is all part of something new... i am interested that you can open the machine to add a forgotten item, what happens if the water level is over. the door..........i have a few memories of that.
